Whaddya mean, it's December in the MMP?!?

Let’s hope they actually bother to publish the next one.

Chilly and reeeealy windy here. I was kinda bummed last summer when the neighbor had a bunch of trees cut down just onto their side of the boundary, but right now, I’m glad that the trees are not falling on my garage.

My window candles with the automatic timers are having trouble telling time. One just popped on at 2, not supposed to come on til 4.

nellie Here’s hoping the necklace person gets their act together.

Boo Gotta love a well mannered booze sto’. And I agree, $53 is too much for one bottle.

Ugh, I have definitely caught some flavor of The Crud. Downing cough syrup till I’m semi-loopy but still barking like a seal … which is giving me a damn headache.

God, I hope they cut me loose early tonight. Blurf!

I asked Wifey what she wanted for dinner. She said, ‘Turkey! You made a good turkey.’

The biggest problem was that this was a short-fuse event. I think they decided to do it 3 weeks ago. They didn’t contact the local FB pages or even have a sign by the road. They’re going to try another in April - with luck, there will be better weather and enough time to get the word out.

Glad to be home - I’m beat, even tho I didn’t do a whole lot. Since SIL is living downstairs till his plague passes, I took the kids home while Daughter got the school buttoned up. She put a bunch of food and drinks in my trunk for SIL, and I took it down to him with some eating implements. I told him to text me if he needed anything. He’s got TV, his video games, a futon with an electric blanket, the bathroom, and a little fridge. It’s not sumptuous, but it keeps his germs away from his family.

The rest of today is for vegging. I’ll figure out tomorrow when it gets here. I’s tahred…

Howdy Y’all! ‘Tis halftime so I thought I’d get in a post. My Dawgs are whompin’ up on the Kitties, 35-10 at the half. WOOF! WOOF! WOOF! Hope I did not just jinx things. Been a lazy day here at da cave, like that would be any kind of surprise. I did bake a chawklit cake with chawklit icin’ and a corn casserole to take tomorrow for first Sunday brunch. I have no duties tomorrow, so I can plop down in a pew and then go pigout. It’s supposed to get rainy, but so far it’s just been a few sprinkles.

Taters of course you can bitch and moan up in here. It is another one of the Mumper services. Hope you get to use up the vacay time before you lose it all.

Lily conga rats on the weight loss and nearin’ retirement. Retirement is da bomb!

Oopsie hope Bailey got all purtified without too much stress. I read about all your social doin’s and got tahrd! That’s way more than this grumpy old man could deal with.

Nellie hope your daughter gets her necklace. Remember, if needed, we can send the PSWSLNS to that seller.

MOOOOOOM hope the skool made some money from the craft fair. Sounds like SIL has a pretty sweet setup in the basement, but still not worth gettin’ the plague for.

Boo rum is good, plus you get to talk like a pirate while drinkin’. I know you do. Everybody does. That sounds like a pretty nifty booze sto’.

{{{shoe}}} feel better soonest and hope you make it through irk relatively easy.

I just lit a fire in the stove insert. I asked Mrs. L.A. to latch the door as she went by. She did, took a couple of steps, and looked back. ‘You bastard,’ she whispered. ‘I don’t know how you can get the fire going every time.’ She often has difficulty, and has a habit of using two fire-lighters.

I called my uncle today for his 81st birthday. He said my 14-year-old cousin has decided he’s a girl. You may recall that my nephew decided he was a girl last year. (Or maybe it was a couple of years ago.) It’s none of my business how people identify. But it’s in the news so much that I couldn’t stop myself from thinking, ‘How trendy.’ Anyway, as long as they’re happy.

{{{taters}}} Your irk situation sounds like it’s currently sucking.

oopsie, my experience with mobile grooming was when Nelson was a puppy. There was one that would come into the apartment complex every three weeks and I would have Nelson’s nails trimmed and / or have him bathed and his ears cleaned (he was just a puppy and I hadn’t had a dog for a long time, so I trusted the pros more than I did myself). The mobile groomer that came around was really good with the dogs, assisted the one elderly dog that I saw using the service and the trailer wasn’t noisy. All in all, a good experience. Unfortunately, the next complex manager wanted a sizable kickback and the groomer just took us off her roster.

Got the holiday card addressing completed, took Nelson to the dog park (his buddy Bosco was there…he’s gimping a bit right now from a sore hip, but healthy otherwise…he’s a bit elderly). Then we went to the post office to drop the cards in the blue box.

Pan fried fart blossoms with pancetta, onions and garlic was the main course for supper with a baked sweet potato as the side. Dessert is a pumpkin muffin that I made this morning.

I was standing in line at the pharmacy (Yes, again. I am single-handedly increasing the net worth of numerous pharmaceutical CEO’s, but do they call? Write? Send hefty checks for Christmas? Hmph. Ingrates.) when this guy started chatting with me. What else is new, right? But suddenly his face lit up. “Hey, it’s ‘Low Rider’!” Sure enough, the War song was playing over the PA. Turns out he not only knows Leo Oskar, who plays harmonica on the song, but Oskar taught him how to play and has even had him play “Low Rider” with him at small venues. He showed me videos. I’m so grateful our paths crossed. His delight made me very happy.

flyboy, it’s nice your wife appreciates you!

swampy, the cake and corn casserole sound yum! Your congregation sounds like a jolly, well-fed bunch.

Tonight’s Advent calendar beer is: Mob Craft Limonata Love, ABV 5%. As name implies, this is a lemon/lime favored beer. Lactose fortified, very sweet, mild citrus flavor, more soda pop than beer. It was “interesting” in pretty much the same manner as a can of Mountain Dew.

Not every beer is gonna be a winner, I’m sure someone must have liked it otherwise they wouldn’t have made it.

Ogbligatroy silghtly durnkne psot.

GO DAWGS!!! WOOF!!! WOOF!!! WOOF!!!

In case y’all haven’t figured it out yet, my Dawgs beat up on the Loosiana State Kitties.

Just tested neg for plague, so that’s good. That means my sore throat and cough and fatigue are just from seasonal crud.

FCD may be spending the night with his folks. His dad is really bad today.

If this is what happens when modern medicine keeps us alive so long, I have to wonder if it’s worth it. Just because you have a pulse doesn’t mean you’re living.

Ignore me. Morose mood…

Evening all. Did make it to swimmin’ and sauna between soccer games, then decided to have Sunday dinner early on Saturday, so off to the Metro Diner for meatloaf. Then did the December grocery shopping and found out why shopping Saturday nights isn’t the best choice (picked clean Friday and Saturday), but still got all but three items. Now home and resting. 48F outside but cosy inside, so that is where I shall remain.

Morty, I have maybe 2 Coors Lights a month, but I do admire the names people come up with for their Craft Beers. That one sounds interesting (I like Mountain Dew, don’t judge…).

nellie, you meet such interesting people. And the adage “Shared Joy is increased” is obviously an adage you concur with. Hippo Birdies to sister and daughter; and stay after the seller, hope it gets straightened out.

swampy, was a little worried with the two earlier upsets, but Georgia left no doubt. Now if Michigan can do the same…

((shoe}}; working any job with a cold and cough is not fun. Hang in there.

FCM, hope your sloth is going well.

Oopsie, hope Bailey enjoyed the grooming (and wasn’t too stressed about it).

Taters, not sure what state you live in, but you have a Beaver Problem at work–one Dam thing after another. Hang in there.

OK, getting towards 8pm, so need to check a couple of websites that usually update around now (if anyone is curious about the Rat’s You Tube subscriptions, it “Kara and Nate” and “Legal Eagle”; tomorrow is “Noel Phillips” and “74 Gear”.).

See y’all on Sunday.

… remind me what these are?

FWIW I feel the same way. When it comes to caring for the elderly, for making the tough choices, for dealing with the inevitabilities of aging and mortality … I’ve long thought we treat our pets with far more dignity, compassion, and respect than we do our own species.

We gotta do what now?

I achieved a good balance of cough syrup dosage and was pretty damn functional at work. I was on fryers, thank Og, since I could just keep my head down, focus on each ticket in order, and not talk too much.

Now I get to switch over to the stronger nighttime cough syrup.

Oh, it was such a late night last night I forgot to share: I had one guy whose total was $20.50.
He dug around a bit, then with a sheepish expression handed me a twenty and .. a credit card.

{ blink }

“You … want me to charge your card fifty cents?”

He nods.

I handed him back the card. “Nuh-uh. No, honey, I will spot you the two quarters. No way am I wasting your time and mine running a fifty-cent credit card charge.”

After he drove off, I got my coin purse and made the drawer even.

Fifty cent credit card charge, good lord - at that point, just charge the whole thing, save your twenty bill for something else.

Okay, I better eat something before the “good” syrup kicks in. Nobody else here get sick, okay?

So I went in on 10:00pm Friday, took an hour break, and got off at 2:46. P.M. Saturday. tht’s gonna be a check and a half. We have so many Saturday deliveries, they have to run a second sort to fill the boxline cages with the Monday stuff, instead of doing it during regular sort. And I get to do clean up. I also won a drone in the holiday attendance lottery.
Having a gin&tonic

Nearly an inch and a half of rain in the last 24 hours, and Buddy keeps demanding that I let him out, no matter how frequently I open the door to prove to him it’s still raining (which does convince him he really doesn’t WANT to go out after all). Goofy cat.

The rain quit for now, so Buddy insisted on going out. I was taking a bag out to the dumpster after scooping the litterbox, and saw Buddy in that area.

In stereo.

Apparently, Buddy is not the only shorthair orange tabby in the complex. He and his doppleganger are even right about the same size. Said double didn’t want to socialize with me, sadly (skittish).

Brussels sprouts.

Well put. What are grandpa’s optioins? A nursing home where at best, he can hope for benign neglect, at worst, outright abuse? My mom was fortunate, as her parents each died quietly in their sleep. Neither one had dementia, so they maintained their dignity till the end. Sadly, that’s not the case with FIL…

FCD did come home last night and he’s still abed, poor baby. He needs to give his mother an ultimatum, but he feels like he’s a bad son if he does that, so he says nothing. I wish I knew the answer, but how does one deal with a pig-headed old woman who thinks she knows better than everyone?

MetalMouse - I gotta ask - when you watch the soccer matches on TV, is your referee side calling the game? Or can you turn it off and just watch?

My throat is really sore - I see a day of hot tea and not doing a lot. I do need to get the kitchen cleaned up, and I need to search the fridge for blooming science experiments. Plus I got some ground beef that needs to become meatloaves. I should probably wrap the kidlets’ presents, too, just to have that done and not have to worry about Roxy seeing the gifts unwrapped. So maybe not as chill a day as I want. We shall see.

Meanwhile, Happy Sunday!

Um, sore throat was a plague symptom for both DH and me. Do you have tests on hand?

No offense intended, but I’m not sure that older people who are caring for medically fragile elderly should also be hosting a plague patient. I’m worried about you and/or FCD getting it. Vaccinations are not 100% on prevention. Trust me on this.

Already tested - it was neg. As was my daughter and her kids - and my daughter had been dealing with a sore throat for 3 or 4 days. So pretty confident it’s just seasonal crud.

And SIL has the basement to himself - no reason for either of us to go down there. It’s certainly better than having him stay home with 2 littles…
