Just be really careful, OK? You and FCD don’t need to get it, and certainly don’t need to pass it to the in-laws.
Also do keep in mind my experience with testing negative for several days while having symptoms.
Yes, I know, I’m not your mother .

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 58 Amurrkin out and cloudy/foggy, with a predicted high of 71 and cloudy for the day. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization followed by first Sunday brunch. As I mentioned yestiddy, I get to plop in a pew and then pigout so it’s all good. After that we shall return to da cave for Sunday sloth, nappage, and general overall uselessness.
MetalMouse Michigan behaved itself and did what they were supposed to and I am glad for that. shoe Michigan (the U. of) played Purdue last night for the Big Ten kolledge football championship.
Hope all the sick folk are better today.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, purtification for deheathenization must commence. Oh, and I must heat up the corn casserole in the nukelator.
Happy Sunday Y’all!
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. I shall clean, watch handegg, and perhaps nap.
shoe, as Mooooom said, they’re brussels sprouts. (the gospel according to swampy )
All of you sickos sickies feel better soonest.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and a pot of pintos on for supper. In a bit, I’ll do KP and put a pot of turnip greens on to go with the beans. I’ll also make a batch of corn muffins.
Such excitement!
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Good morning, Mumpers.
It’s a really bright, sunny day, out there. Good grief. It’s also a cool 23F, with a wind chill of 17F. It’s supposed to warm up to around 42F. It sure was windy the past couple of days. Not so much, today. Good. I’m nearly deaf, and I could hear the wind howlin’! Jeez.
I don’t know what the day will dish out to me.
I’m sending my daughter to the store (And I didn’t go to our weekly Heathen Brekkie, either!), because I’m having some sort of issue with my hip. I think it’s my hip. It hurts like all hell. Hurts to walk. Hurts to sit. Hurts to get up. Hurts to lie down. I’m eating generic Exederin like they’re TicTacs. So, I’m stopping that crap, and just trying to take them a couple times a day. Always something. Humbug.
I took some chicken tit tenderloins out of the freezer to thaw. I’ll yank out that nasty tendon that is in each of them, and then make some marinated chicken over rice, for dinner.
I did take some ground beef, and ground pork, about 5 pounds, total, out of the freezer to thaw. I’m going to make a batch of Summer Sausage. I have to send my daughter to the store for some mustard seed. I’m pretty sure I don’t have any left, with all the canning I did this summer. I did find my curing salt, though. So, there’s that. I need to remember to look for my smoked Paprika before she heads out, because I don’t know if I have any of that, either.
Since I finished all my coffee, I should get started, before all of the restorative magic wears off.
Have a good day.
I feel for you guys!
When my folks in Florida were in decline and dad was about to fail rehab (no progress so Medicare stops covering rehab) after a hospital stay for a broken hip and we had to figure out his long term care our options looked very bad.
The best advice was from an elder care attorney who rearranged their estate holdings using a Qaulified income Trust (QIT) so Dad could qualify for Medicaid and remain in nursing care and mom was able to stay at home. It still sucked, but they had options that none of us could have worked out on our own.
Of course Merrylande laws ymmv, but if you haven’t already contact an elder care attorney they specialize in elder care issues.
@JaneDoe42 and @purplehorseshoe should get a kick out of this article (shoe, you should make sure to search for the word “serpent” in the page in particular) and others might be interested too.
Morning, all!
Bailey did alright with yesterday’s PetSmart grooming, so we’ll use them again sometime. It only took 1.5 hours, and cost 75% less than one of the mobile grooming options. She was so fluffy when I picked her up…I didn’t know she could get that fluffy! And she smelled good, which meant I kept sticking my nose into her side when we were on the couch. She wasn’t a fan, but was too tired to object much. I feel better knowing that she’s finally been brushed and bathed and had her nails trimmed.
The PetSmart is less than 2 miles from the house: I could have gone back home to wait for her to be done, but instead I decided to go to the Container Store just down the road. It had been forever since I’d gone to that store: it’s a dangerous place for me, given my OCD tendencies and love of organizing (and reorganizing), but I felt like I should go do something vs sitting around a dog-less house. Of course I bought a bunch of stuff I didn’t actually need, but I managed to get out with less damage to my wallet than expected! There was no place else I felt like going, so after I paid for everything I figured I’d take it home and set it up/put it away while waiting for PetSmart to call and say Bailey was ready for pickup – which they did when I was 2-3 blocks from the house. I’m glad they called while I was still in the car.
I’m meeting my friends for brunch in an hour. The restaurant we’re going to is in a very fancy/expensive mall that I haven’t been inside for years (you can get to the restaurant from outside): my favorite joke is that I can’t even afford to window shop there. Still, I might stretch my legs and look around a little after we eat.
Time to go get clean and presentable…I hope everyone has a good day/gets a break/feels better (as applicable)!
Good morning everyone.
It’s currently 32 degrees with a fresh skiff of snow on the ground. We’re supposed to see a little more today, and then it’ll turn to rain. In the early evening, we’re supposed to get rain/snow showers turning to snow and finally cloudy skies.
I couldn’t sleep last night. I hauled myself to bed at about 3:30 am and was up again at 7:30.
I did get the tree and my Christmas village up, along with some other Christmas decor. The village almost didn’t get set up because I couldn’t find my fluffy “snow” anywhere. It seems I had tossed it out during the Great Purge of 2022. I finally found one unopened roll/bag, and it was just enough.
I do need to get to the store because I need a couple of things, so this means I shall have to make myself presentable, so I don’t look like something the cat dragged in. I also need to do laundry, and while out running my errands, I need to put some gas in the Jeep. I was going to do it on my way home Wednesday, but by the time I got to the gas station near my home, I was over being on the roads, over EVERYTHING for that day, and just wanted to get home.
FCM, I think the elder care attorney is a good option if you two haven’t already explored that. The stress and worry of dealing with all the in-laws aren’t doing your body much good either. For the record, that two-month crud that I endured started out with a sore throat and a very painful sore throat where I couldn’t swallow, and my voice did funny things or flat-out disappeared. I was negative for strep, COVID, and everything. I think I just wore myself out, and whatever viral bug attacked me got my body at its lowest ebb. I can usually fight stuff off.
I just finished feeding the corvids their peanuts. They were all squawking, cackling and cawing when I went outside. I’m sure the frenzy has begun because they swooped in as I walked away from the feeder.
Well, I’m going to finish my coffee, tidy the kitchen and clean myself up so I can get to the gettin’ places and have enough time to do laundry when I get home.
Morning (almost afternoon) all. Had my 'really sleep-in day" today, didn’t exit the bed until 9:30am, so really just getting started. Soccer watched and Fettuccine consumed so all ready for the afternoon. Need to drop of a couple of bills and do the remainder of my shopping, but it looks like a clear day today (99% chance of rain tomorrow, however, according to the Weather Wizards) so no problems.
Yeah, I try to appreciate the skills and tactics (I also coach), but I probably watch the referee crew more than most folks do and don;t get too outraged when something happens that the crowds and players are screaming for a penalty and the ref plays on. I couldn’t ref this age, I’d have thrown 2/3 of the players out of the game by now…
Oopsie, glad Bailey is fluffy and has that 'new dog clean" smell.
FCM, I think Chela might have a good idea, depending on the laws and procedures in your neck of the planet.
doggio, congrats on winning the drone. So you get time-and-a-half for the extra hours?
shoe, I’ve done that before (not have enough change/cash) for something, but I just put the total on my card, like you suggested. Guess the guy was so flustered he couldn’t think of it (been there). Good on ya for donating the 0.50.
OK, tackleball starts very soon and then another soccer game then shopping and mailing, so such an exciting day… All y’all take care.
Hooray for fluffed and scented doggie!
Ugh. I called out from irk. I’m feeling worse than yesterday, cannot talk for hours on end, and certainly don’t wanna pass the crud on to anyone else.
Have obtained more cough syrup, and got a little fried chicken while I was out, because they’re right next door to Walgreens and it smelled good. Any brief spark of appetite gets indulged, so I’ve nibbled some chicken, mashed N.O.T. and corn. Will continue to nibble, then - hopefully - get a nap. I’m unimpressed with the “nighttime” syrup I got, it didn’t knock me out the least little bit.
Chicken’s a bit soggy, not nearly as good as my favorite chicken shack (which is closed Sundays, dammit) but at least I got the 1st decent iced tea I’ve had since quitting Dickeys.
Pancakes and deadpig strips for The Missus. Turkey/Tapatio/Cheddar omelette and deadpig strips for me.
I’d better put on some pants and go pick up the axes.
♫ I’m gonna make
Me a big sharp axe.
Shining steel
Tempered in the fire.
I’ll chop you down
Like an old dead tree
Dirty old town
Dirty old town ♫
26f and snowing lightly here today, but supposed to get all the way up to 31f and stop snowing this afternoon. Whew!
Made Spam hash and eggs for breakfast, because I could.
All you sickies get better now. I worry about you.
I worry about you too, Mom.
All I really need to do today is go upstairs and dig out my boots and heavy coat.
Wifey says she’s not leaving the house again 'til Wednesday, when she goes to PT again.
Doggio, have you tried out your drone yet?
Youngest grandson get me a cheap little drone for my birthday a couple years ago. I got it put together and got it going and it shot straight up into the sky, without any prompting from me, and got out of range, whereupon it shot straight back down. After that it didn’t work so pretty good.
Y’all have a good Sonday now.
Just nipping in to:
Wish everyone suffering from crud a speedy recovery;
Wish all pets suffering from anything a speedy recovery;
Give hugs where needed; and
Share my new favorite riddle.
Q: What do you call a fake noodle?
A: An impasta!!
Happy Sunday to all.
This is why we have a catio.
It’s been snowing like crazy for the last three hours or so. It was supposed to let up, isn’t slowing down. Big, fat fluffy flakes are falling.
I have Northern Flickers going to town on my suet and the chickadees, sparrows and finches are darting in to feed on both the seed and suet.
Aren’t you in Washington?
Bright and sunny up here in almost-Canadarrrrrr.
After wasting much of the afternoon reading a trashing historical romance, I just made 3 meatloaves - 2 for us and 1 for the inlaws. SIL had a video appointment with a doc-in-the-box. FCD went to fetch some stuff for SIL and I suspect he got hijacked to the apartment.
Tomorrow, I’m going to Daughter’s first thing, I’ll take Roxy to school, then I’ll stay at their house all day. I don’t want to bring Tobias here because of plague and because I can’t take him into the basement. And maybe I can do a little cleaning for my daughter. If it works out, I’ll probably do the same all week. ugh.
Off to find more trashy reading.
Yes, I am in unincorporated Pierce County between Graham and Puyallup.
