So glad you’re eating!

Oh, and too mini even for the mini-rants, but I just got back from the Gettin’ Sto’ and wanted to chill with Wednesday while fortifying myself for the day’s next adventure.
Remote is dead.
Pry out dead batteries, clean out corrosion (!) and go for replacements. What? Who used the last AAs and didn’t put them on the list?!? (That’d be me, of course.)
I’m usually better about this sort of thing.
Still, I’m not going back to the store, so now I gotta get up and walk to the TV to adjust the volume, like it’s the damn 80s or something.
I’ve heard that universal remote smartphone apps exist.
None of them have or are capable of using a smart phone. They can barely use their flip phones. MIL can’t see hers, FIL is just out of it, and BIL won’t answer his. Yeah, insanity…
Looks like FCD is going to have to be their transportation for the immediate future. Something weird is going on with BIL - he just drives in a straight line - oblivious to turns, landmarks, or anything. They ended up waaaaay north of the county line - they were actually supposed to be going to the hospital, which is maybe 15 minutes from their place. They were over an hour away because… who knows??
It’s bad.
I’ve had cow-orkers like that. Years ago I stumbled on the ultimate counter-superweapon: a CD of traditional Chinese opera. Or in these more modern times, a YouTube channel devoted to the same. Turn it on, turn it up, and rejoice in the glories of a thousand years of Chinese musical tradition. Your cow-orkers may hate you, but like someone brandishing a gun, you will be respected as they back away.
Ooooh, I’m looking forward to watching Wednesday, too. Only reason I haven’t started yet is the houseful of people who invaded last week. I love my family dearly but my nephews are a handful.
Anyway, I’m back to work today after a week off. I didn’t miss it, not at all. It’s quiet-ish, so I’m considering heading out for a brief walk before setting to again.
I used to love Christmas music until one of my favorite radio stations started playing it on Thanksgiving and didn’t stop until mid-January. Now I strongly dislike it very early in the season. My teacher still has me play it for piano, which is fine. For some reason it’s different if I’m playing it myself,
I’ve been horrible about decorating for Christmas the last 3 years. I feel like my reasons are pretty sound, but I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t especially feel like I need a reason, which is nice.
Oh, well - off to the day. Still early enough things can go sideways, late enough it’d probably be hard to prevent it.
May I recommend this album?https://www.amazon.com/Joy-World-Pink-Martini/dp/B0041QSZJM
Oh thanks so much for this. Pink Martini is one of my favorites and Hang On Little Tomato is an outstanding album. Looking forward to Christmas music for the first time in years!
I tried watching it - I couldn’t get thru the first episode. Not that anyone should draw any conclusions - my tastes tend to be very different from the world at large. For example, I’ve never seen Titanic all the way thru, and what little I’ve seen is because someone else was watching it. And that what little struck me as kinda dumb. I have no interest in Harry Potter, either. Or any comic book movie. Gee, ain’t I contrary??
I can’t seem to figure out how to transfer stuff from my old tablet to the new one. I’ve got a lot of books on the old one - somehow I’ll figure it out. I hope. I’m not a luddite, but I guess I’m missing something.
Moooooom, have you considered putting a LoJack on your in-laws vehicle? Given their lack of tech ability, this would put the ball in you or FCD’s hands.
I kind of like Christmas music. As someone who sang in various choirs over the years, I’ve heard and / or performed most of it.
Irked with only one tech issue today: the mouse died…again, but only for the Windows PC. The PC on the data wipe side (the mouse is on a splitter with a toggle) worked fine. I think that the Windows port on the splitter is borked.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Howdy Y’all! OYKW got stuff done whilst I loafed around da cave. I did, however, make up for that by makin’ sup, which has been et and the kitchen cleanded up. I have been inspired by WetOne to have beast tenderloin for Christmas feast. I think it will be perfect for that. I envision a relatively simple feast of that, company smashed N.O.T., bacon wrapped spareguts, squish casserole, rolls, and cheesecake. OYKW will make the cheesecake cause he makes a really good, really rich, really dense Noo Yawk style cheesecake that goes well with macerated strawberries and for real whipped cream. Now I can’t wait for Christmas feast!
Quietly maybe say sump’n along the lines of how happy you are for your friend and his music success, but that type of music is just not your thing. I have friends who do stuff that’s not my thing, but they enjoy it, so I say live and let live. You can be happy for him without subjectin’ yourself to dishwashers bein’ thrown down stairs music.
VanGo make lots of purty things. Congarats on the piece bein’ sold so quick.
lucky hope you get the needed rain. We have a couple of tabletop trees that will get put out eventually, maybe a couple of days before Christmas Eve. That is the extent of Christmas decor at da cave. Hope you remembered how to irk.
Susan the traditional religious music is what I’m talkin’ about. Even some of that I detest.
MetalMouse glad you made it back to Alabammy safe and sound. Congrats on all your new found wealth!
shoe hope you ate a lot of whatever it is you decided to eat.
WetOne you get two mentions in one post, go you! Sometimes the wallet/checkbook/debit/credit card or whatever your preferred method of payment is the best tool for the job. Hope the sinus crud goes away soonest.
MOOOOOOM wish I had an easy fix for dealin’ with the in-laws. I would be seriously leanin’ on FCD to get stuff in place re his brother if I were you.
Nellie glad doggie can entertain herself.
doggio sounds like a three martini evenin’ would be a good thing for you.
Oh, my. Took dogkins for a long walk. She got WAY too excited by 1) a murder of crows 2) a shaggy dog who merely gave her a disdainful look 3) an Irish setter with a big…stick 4) little kids getting off a school bus. We are working on “HEEL,” a foreign concept to her. By the time her person returns , I intend to have la chienne speaking French and running for office. I hear Ye is looking for a running mate.
FCM, yikes on BIL’s driving. I shudder to think how long he’s been drving that way. How is FCD holding up? How are you?
Here’s a quick recap:
Rose: Jack!
Jack: Rose!
Rose: Jack, Jack, Jack!
Jack: Rose! Brrr. Scootch over on that floating door, woncha?
Rose: Nope.
Jack: (freezes solid)
I’ve watched two Harry Potter movies. Took my daughter, a huge fan, to the first one. She and her friends took me to the last one for auld lang sine. Never got into the books. Also not into comic book movies or dark, creepy movies or gore. I think we’d get along swimmingly.
doggio, sounds like a rotten day. Just stick a straw in the gin bottle.
swampy, yum! Will it just be you and your honey for Christmas dinner?
Uphill, both ways? Fighting off bears and panther while you walk through the snow?
Considering Monday is a slow day, and I killed another phone, I might trephinate myself, and just pour gin directly onto my cerebral cortex.
Yeah. I’m sorry you gotta deal with this.
Smart idea, and totally doable. Hubs and I can track each other’s cars with our smart phones and a gizmo we mounted on the roof of the glove box. Easy enough for us to get to if needed, hard to find if you don’t know it is there.
Tis the season. Some old crank threw a fit at the post office because he had to push a no button to verify that he didn’t have anything liquid, flammable, etc.
I used to like Christmas music until stored overdosed me on it. Now I listen to the Lovecraft Society Choir. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ptP0OR-e7rI&list=RDptP0OR-e7rI&start_radio=1
Today we had Thanksgiving. Hubs did the turkey and I did the mashed potatoes, stuffing, etc. It was good. We also went to the Post Office to mail Boo’s package off. I took mom around Mayer to look at the highly decorated houses, but mostly because we like driving around the community and commenting on people’s gardens and trees.
VERY cool!
Mom and I have been stitching together. She forgot the treads for one piece but has enough for her back-up piece that we don’t need to buy more. I’m enjoying our visit and valuing every minute.
Evening all. The World Cup is messing up my gym schedule, games are at 7am, 10am and 1pm around here, so if I watch them it only leaves an hour between games and when they finish up at 3pm I am…not motivated…to go do exercise. Ah well, during the next 4 days the games will be at 9:00 am and 1:00pm so maybe I work in some time from 11-1…we’ll see.
Went to Logan’s tonight to try their chopped steak dinner (tried three places in as many weeks to find one to replace Cracker Barrel), and the winner is Texas Roadhouse, so I’ll add that to my Sunday Dinner rotation.
JtC, knitting with your Mom sounds like a great time to me; cherish it.
FCM, I think the idea of some time of tracker, like suzie and JtC mentioned, may be an option; I doubt BIL is going to give up his keys.
shoe, had to go get AA and AAA batteries a week or two ago, never realized I was out. And hey, some aerobic exercise is good for you…
doggio, amazing that anything gets delivered from there; glad you and some others (we few, we happy few…) keep the wheels of shipping moving.
nellie, sounds like you and the dog are bonding; he’s being a pest and you are ready to smack him…you’d like my family and their dogs…
wet one, hope the handyman can shed light on your garage problem; I had an extra trip to the garage for something more minor, as I was coming in from dinner tonight I reached in my jacket pocket and felt several tiny objects; they were the caps for my tires’ valve stems, I had taken them off when I aired up the tires weeks ago and put them in my pocket, and of course immediately forgot about them…didn’t affect the tire pressure, but I put them back on because I guess I’m supposed to.
OK, dinner is happily assimilating, I have the sneezies (I get them after a larger than normal meal) and will probably turn in early tonight, the tackleball game does not interest me much. All y’all have a good night/morning and I’ll see you on 2sDay.
Happy Moonday!
I was very underdressed at the park this morning. It was in the 50s, but windy and damp.
Cerby behaved pretty well. Near the end he started ignoring the ball and barking at the ceiling. I was ready to leave anyway.
I had called the vet before we left to see if they could see Ripple today.
Doesn’t it figure that they called me back just as I was going through the drive thru at CVS. So, I had the vet’s office on speaker, CVS at the window, and my ex-neighbor saw me and walked up to hug me through the window. That sent Cerby off on a mad barking spell.
I managed to get an appointment for Ripple.
The vet looked at it and said it isn’t a hot spot, it’s a wound.
The tech brought out a muzzle for me to put on Ripple and took him back to clean the wound. About two minutes later she is back with another tech, so I could hold Ripple while they worked on him. The tech shaved around the wound and cleaned it, and told me it looked like he had a cyst that popped. That might explain why it went from looking like a hot spot to an open wound.
He got antibiotics and pain pills.
Putting a t-shirt on him may help to keep Echo and Cerby from licking his sore. Thank you for the suggestion, Shoe. He can’t have a bandage because it needs air to dry out. A loose shirt could keep the others out while letting air in.
I may not have rent due, but the mortgage is… well not due because I paid it yesterday.
I got a call from Niece1 today. We talked a bit about Cerby, and Christmas.
Then she tells me, I knew my sister was going to pull some bullshit, that my sister wants to buy the house for about 2/3 of its appraised value.
She says the house needs a lot of irk (it does need irk, but not that much irk) and that the appraiser over appraised it. I call bullshit. Most of the irk is cosmetic, and appraisers know what they are doing. My sister told my nieces that all the appraiser did was find three comparables and average the price, without taking the irk needed into consideration. I said no, appraisers know what they are doing and if they are consistently over appraising houses, they would soon be out of work.
I suggested that they call in a real estate agent and ask them what they would list the house for. If they list it closer to what my sister wants to pay, then I’ll agree to the price. If they list it closer to the appraisal, then nope, not happening. The house can’t be sold unless everybody agrees to the price.
My sister already stole the ring my mother left me, now she wants to rip me off for another $60,000?
My sister is just trying to rip everybody off, and my nieces are gullible enough to fall for her lies.
I think I need to call the lawyer.
The piece of property up this way hasn’t even been appraised yet. I asked what was up with that. Niece1 said she thought I wanted to buy it. I was under the impression that my sister was buying it. Either way, we have to have some idea of its value. Niece1 thinks an appraisal is a waste of money.
So, okay. Eight acres, $8000 sounds about right to me. If we’re just going to let people name their price.
The scammers are ascamming too.
What is so weird though, is that they are calling a cousin’s husband and telling him that he is the executor of the will. No idea why him. He married into the family, so a different last name. He lives in a different state. So weird.
One of the radio stations up here started playing Christmas carols 24/7 before Halloween.
That station is on my shit list.
I’m not much for Christmas carols, and the ones I like the most are the twisted versions.
I don’t decorate for any holiday. It can be fun to decorate, but not enough fun to make up for the unfun of undecorating.
IOW, Sari is lazy.
Cute finger puppeets FCM
I’m sorry for all your inlaw problems.
Congrats VanGo
My doctor changed some of my pills around. I have to call the cardiologist for one switch she made, he prescribes them so I want to check with him first. I have to work out the new schedule for myself and I have to figure out a schedule for Ripple now too.
Oh farts! I just broke my wine glass. I was washing dishes too fast and knocked it over into the sink. At least it was contained.
sahi Here’s wishing the best for ripple. And good luck with the sister house situation. Sounds like a complete suck-fest.
metal mouse Wasn’t there a thread not long ago about missing tire valve filler caps somewhere? May have been in IMHO? Did you snarf that dude’s caps…
I’m currently up for my usual bio-break … on my friend’s couch, with one of her ‘Meezers purring to beat the band on my lap. Several other cats are strewn about nearby. The tabby “Chaos” was all up in my Kool-aid earlier. I always forget the others’ names - she keeps telling me, but I’m always stoned or about to be so I forget. I think the ultra-fat tabby with the bad eye is “Pork Chop” but that’s as far as my roll call goes.
Went with the pierogi for lunch yesterday, with bacon and lotsa onion. Was so yum I fried up 3 more (they’re the little mini ones) and even had a yogurt, before heading over here.
Dinner was nachos and assorted stoner munchies. Don’t judge.
Okay, back to sleep. See y’all later.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 45 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 76 and partly N.O.S. for the day. Today is laundry day. I can hardly contain myself. Tomorrow is supposed to be all kinds of rain/tstorms/apocalypse accordin’ to TWPTB, so I am entertainin’ the idea of goin’ to the Pubic sto’ today. Maybe we could go to our favorite Mexican place for N.O.L. and then to the sto’. I am sure I would not be met with opposition for that suggestion. Plus that would take care of the main need to feed today. Genius!
Nellie I gather doggie is highly entertainin’ you. JDD and Partner and the Wives will most likely come feast with us, so six of us then. Makin’ the Feast for six is very doable. They can contribute munchies and libations.
shoe no judgement on stoner foods. I ate that a lot durin’ my mispent youth. I was often baked to a golden brown whilst in class way back then.
sari hope Ripple is healed soonest, poor baby. There just always seems to be some family member out for greed when it comes to estate stuff. I am so fortunate that I don’t come from such a family. With my mom’s estate it was like here’s all the assets and they got divied up accordin’ to what had been agreed upon with no fuss and muss.
VanGo shall we mourn the wine glass or was there a backup available?
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Happy Tuesday Y’all!
That’s no joke. FCD has some cousins who were stealing from their widowed mother shortly after their father died. Sickening!! And one of my dad’s sisters swept in and took all kinds of stuff after their mother died. And, of course, she was financially the best off of the 4 of them…
Fortunately, I don’t foresee any issues with my sibs, especially with my bro as executor - he don’t put up with no crap!! And FCD’s bro who might have been a troublemaker is in Texas and he may well die before his folks, so that won’t be an issue - not that it’s a huge estate anyway.
FCD has a dental appt this morning, then he’s taking his bro for his colonoscopy (he failed the Cologuard.) Apparently BIL is over-or-undermedicating - FCD says as soon as he sits down, he’s asleep. We’re guessing it’s related to the fractured skull and the seizures he was having last year, but unless and until he sees a neurologist (I think he as an appt in Jan) there’s no definite answers.
Sorry to keep dumping this stuff here - I do need a vent-friendly depository.
Last night, I finally figured out how to make the transfer of stuff from my old tablet to the new one. What was odd - some of the games came over at the most recent level, others came over starting at level 1. Not that it’s a huge deal, but it is weird. I also remembered that the books I downloaded are on the microSD card, so I need to transfer that to the new tablet.
I purged the old one of all except Roxy’s games - she’ll get it this afternoon if I have time to move the microSD. Daughter has a parent conference at 3 - I’ll be lucky if she gets home by 4:30. Oh well… Meanwhile, when I take Tobias to play in the basement, I’ll try to get all the accumulated toys put away and out of the boxes and baskets that came from Daughter’s house. I should probably go down there now and start a fire to take the chill off.
And so it begins - another day in paradise.
Happy Tuesday!!
