Whaddya mean, it's December in the MMP?!?

Morning, mumpers! It’s 6c/42f with a predicted high of 7c/44f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “It’s overcast and mild. Shut your fucking piehole and take a rain coat, just in case.” Might be a good day to go for the walk we never got yesterday.

Today is our last day in Largs, we are off home tomorrow morning so we will be able to get a better picture of Ophelia’s health condition. Today’s pic from the catsitter shows a bot of eye discharge but that’s not unusual for her. Anyway, we are seeing the vet on Friday morning so will talk to her about the incontinence issues and see what she suggests.

Apparently as we leave here, we have to go via the supermarket for steak pies because we can’t get the right ones back home!

Good morning, folks.

It seems like it’s going to be a somewhat damp day, with some sprinkles in the forecast. It’s supposed to get up to around 61F. Not bad! I love the rain, so, it’s all good. We need it, anyway.

I have more laundry to do. Probably two loads. Could be three. Ugh. I don’t even want to deal with it. My daughter did up dishes, so I need to put them away, and then vacuum. This crap never ends. I may, or may not (depends on my mood), make a batch of cookies, later. I can’t have any, but, it’ll give me something to do, other than be bored half to death. I’m sure the laundry will take care of that, though.

FCM, I know what you, and FCD are dealing with. I went through it with my grandma. Of course, she lived with us, and she went through all the stuff your FIL is going through, dementia-wise. She also became a bit combative. For a frail-ish, 91 year old Italian woman, she was surprisingly strong when she chose to be combative. Good grief. I’m just so sorry that your family has to deal with it. I absolutely understand how difficult it is.

As for the driving, well, my grandma would NOT stop driving. The last straw was when she drove to church, about 2 blocks from here. She was leaving, and ran into someone’s car. They were nice about it, and there was really no damage to either vehicle. I couldn’t allow her to drive, anymore. She was going to hurt someone/something, and it would have been my fault, since I was her POA, and stuff. In my mind, anyway. I don’t know if it would have been, or not.
Anyway, I finally had to fake a letterhead, and print off a fake letter, from the ‘local BMV’, and I mailed it to my grandma, saying that her doctor had informed the BMV that she was no longer able to drive a vehicle, and her license had been revoked. She was pissed, but, it worked! So, I consider it a win.

Have a good day, everyone.

That’s the thing about adulting, isn’t it?? blech.

Forgot to mention - got a call yesterday evening from our car guy. It wasn’t mice - it was an O2 sensor and something in the fuel system and something else I don’t recall… all to the tune of $1200. Cheaper than replacing the truck, but dang!!! So much for beating VISA into submission.

I’ve got a fire going in the basement. It was still below 70° when I went down to check it, but it should be comfy when Tobias arrives. Like he notices anyway! Kids!!!

Just got a text from SIL - he’s on the way!

Gypsy. This one’s name is Gypsy. (Sometimes if I write something/type it out/see it in print, it’s easier to remember.)

clutches pearls

No, seriously, this phrase made me laugh. You have a way with words, swampy.

That’s messed up.

proceeds to pull some serious bullshit

I’m sorry, and it especially sucks that your nieces are being manipulated.

I’ve never heard of this, that’s kinda cute?

What was that old headache medicine, with the ad that just repeated, “APPLY DIRECTLY TO THE FOREHEAD!” over & over?

I’m joining the “Yikes!” chorus about the FC In-Law driving drama. This isn’t safe for anyone, but there’s never an easy solution, and it sucks that you’re probably gonna have to be the bad guy just to protect everyone.

Whelp, imma chill here for a while, maybe lay back down for a bit. My friend already headed out to work (she doesn’t mind me hanging out while she’s not here) and there’s a feed store right up the street. I wanna stop there on my way home & get a bag of corn. It’ll encourage the turkeys to come through my yard (entertaining for me AND for Monkey) plus anything that encourages nature pisses off my neighbor, and at this point, it’s kinda fun to poke the bear.

He probably won’t even know … but I will!

Good morning everyone.

I was at the office yesterday and am at the office today too. It’s 30 degrees and spitting some snowflakes. It was snowing when I left my house and looking at the traffic cams, there is a good deal more snow where I live as compared to down here at the office.

The MPA is supposed to come in to the office today and tomorrow. How much you want to bet she’ll be a no show? Every time we put this project on our calendar she does this. I am pretty sick of it because it’s been happening for three months now.

FCM, you and your husband are dealing with so much. Please feel free to gent here.

I know there is so much more to address, but I am doing this on my phone.

I hope you all have a fantastic day.

Good morning all, taking a break from the morning World Cup games to drop a note or two. 63F heading for 70F today, but the rains are due this afternoon and evening, so that will bring the temps back down. Will try to get to the gym before the USA game at 1:00pm local time. Outside of that nothing much planned.

FCM, rant all you want, but make sure you get some kid therapy with ROxy and Toby now and then. And OUCH on the car work.

Shoe, it was called “Head On” (because of course it was) and those rank up there with the silliest commercials ever made. Enjoy the turkeys.

You missed the critical information: was it full at the time?

Sari, so sorry you’re having family issues on the inheritance. At least I only have 5 folks to inherit my stuff and I’ll probably outlive 1-2 of them, so I hope it’s not a problem in the future.

OK, back to the drama of Senegal vs Ecuador…hey, soccer fans watch all kinds of stuff. Take care all.

Lights in garage and hallway have been replaced. Took all of 15 minutes but I’ll be darned if I’m climbing a ladder to replace 9 foot lights. I’m staying home today to fight the crud and watch Iran v US footie. I’m slightly addicted to the ham and cheese on a pretzel (not the snek) roll at the local Jewel so I may have to head out for one before the game. Or just forage.

Morning. It’s 30f and sunny here right now. I remember there was some drama when my maternal grandma died. Someone cleaned out her house, to the walls, after she was gone. There wasn’t that much of value there though. We have our suspicions about which of the cousins did it, but it doesn’t matter to me. I’m the black sheep anyway and nobody cares what I think.

Enough of that. Today will be more of messing about with the bathroom fan. I may cut a whoppin’ big hole in the wall today. Or not. I also need to go get the mail and stop by the little store and get some more treats for the wee tyrant. He’s not spoiled. Heh.

Wifey has an appointment for PT up in the Dalles tomorrow and will stop at Safeway after and pick up prescriptions and foodstuffs. It’s somewhat cheaper there.

Other than that - life goes on.

Y’all have a wonderful day.

A late start, mismatched bags and a game of musical chairs through the departments. Also hat off the the genius at Kohls who thought that an unpadded plastic bag was the best way to ship wine glasses.

HEAD ON!
APPLY DIRECTLY TO THE FOREHEAD!

Just got the kid down for a nap. I swapped out the microSD, so I can take the old tablet to Roxy. Gradually getting used to the new tablet - it’s just different enough to confuse me a bit. I’m sure there’s a reason they changed what they changed, but durn if I can figure out why. But it only cost a hunnert bucks, so hard t complain about it.

I’m not sure what we’ll do for supper tonight - maybe sketties? Or just sammiches? Dunno.

Meanwhile, I’ll have a few quiet moments until the noise machine wakes up.

And we are the right people for the job~vent away! Wish there was more we could do but I am very happy to listen til the cows come home. It’s a crummy situation all the way around. You and FCD are already going way above and beyond.

Glad you have the adorable and amazing grandbabbies to enjoy. I love hearing tales of what they’re doing.

Nothing noteworthy here. My hair cutter just called me to ask to reschedule to Thursday (from 2 hours from now) and that is fine by me-I’m still sucking down my morning coffee and in my flannel nightgown no less. I wasn’t that eager to have to go out anyway. It’s very gray and overcast here, with a dreary wind. Gray and gloomy enough that I had to turn on the overhead light in the dining room, where I hang out (think moooom’s recliner, except it’s a loveseat in my case), the big bay window wasn’t letting in enough light. Got my front door wreath hung yesterday. I have notions of putting up little artificial tree in my front window facing the street~we’ll see if that happens. It’s an orphan tree from my daughters, replaced there by a pencil tree that fits their space better. I also think my dear SIL was also weary of struggling with the lights on it. I have nothing but time to futz with recalcitrant light strings. I can always slap on more strings if the prelit ones prove uncooperative. It’ll require hunting up an extension cord and some creative plug choreography in my c. 1880 house-always a joy. I’ll be able to see the tree in the front room window from my loveseat haunt in the other room (said bay window is at the opposite end of my humble little house). I think it’ll cheer me up to have some Christmas lights and a tree again and I could use it. I gave this tree to my daughter and SIL for their first apt. together in 2010 and now it’s come full circle back. I quit putting up a tree some years ago because I had cats who persisted in un-decorating it faster than I could decorate it. They pulled it over on a daily basis. Different kitties now and I’ll do just lights, no decorations. I’ll duct tape it to the end table if I have to and there are always bungee cords. Besides they’ve got my oxygen tubing to harass now, it’s always moving and more enticing. A gray gloomy day seems appropriate for bringing on some twinkly lights to chase away the drearies. We’ll see how I do with Project Morale Boost.

Sadly, my plans were interrupted by an evil iPhone. In the hands of an inattentive driver who transformed my truck from a long bed to a short bed. Noisily. Traffic had stopped and she didn’t notice – plowing into the back of my truck so fast my hat came off and flew into the back seat.

The good news, no one was seriously hurt, including her baby who was properly secured in a car seat. I’m a little stiff and walking like an old man, but since I am an old man it’s OK. The other driver is probably mainlining Ibuprofen, judging from the burns and other rough treatment from her car’s airbags. But they worked and everyone’s gonna be OK.

So, today’s chore has been unloading the truck in preparation for the body/repair shops. I was able to drive it back home after finding enough tools to cut/bend the rear fenders so the wheels could turn. I got home after dinnertime last night, and found the bed-cover and tailgate are bent into permanent closed position. I only managed to pry the cover open this morning to get my stuff out. I’m astonished at how much stuff had accumulated. Oh well, it’s getting cleaned out now, I guess.

I guess after the insurance companies square off and figure out who’s paying, I’ll get a rental car. Once that’s done I’ll try again to have Thanksgiving with Dad. Wish me luck.

I still claim this is a good week. Only metal got bent, not people. Priorities, amirite?

Edit: Re: the iPhone. She told me she was using it when she hit my truck.

Genius move! Wish I would have thought of that when we were having similar issues with my dad.

An idiot, but an honest idiot…

Next week (12/9) is our anniversary - the 39th. Isn’t that the heating pad anniversary?

My sweetie is on his way home. The truck is ready for retrieval. And the kidlet is still sleeping. So far…

GIN ON! APPLY DIRECTLY TO THE CEREBRAL CORTEX!

(… to bring the joke back around.)

Enjoy your lights, Boo. To me, they’re the single best part of the holiday season.

Holy CRAP pullin that’s scary as hell! I’m glad nobody was seriously hurt, and maybe that put the fear of Og into the other driver about neverEVER doing that, ever again!

@nonacetone I like your style.

I got a yuuuge (40 lb) bag of corn, so imma go wrestle it outta my hatchback and spread some golden love. I already saw three black squirrels as I was pulling up, so SOMEone will no doubt soon be happy.

WAIT! I keep forgetting to share the best part!

I was telling my tale of Thanksgiving woe last night, and my friend decided that we’d do a holiday meal, just the two of us. A spiral ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, rolls, and I forget what-all else but that’s the most important part for me.

{ jumps up & down } OMG!

Jumping up and down in happy solidarity with you! Sounds like a nice plan.

I dropped in yo say “oh, sh*t ! it’s snowing here! Came on fast. I guess all that gray gloomy blustery wind should of been a clue for me.

Big fluffy flakes being blown in~it’s only 26 degrees here but the ground has been soaking up 50 degree days for a week so I’ll be surprised if it sticks. Glad I have no where I have to be except inside my newly roofed four walls. A treasured friend sent me a lovely cheerful afghan that is heavenly to curl up in and I am going to do just that.

shoe, that sounds like a true friend (the type that will help you move the body). Enjoy.

Yanker, glad no one was hurt, but keep an eye on how you’re doing tomorrow, the bruising may take some time to work it’s way up.

That went well…

Got my Moanday swimming and sauna in today and still made it back for the start of the US-Iran game. However, tunder-boomers moved into the neighborhood in the second half (here, not in Qatar) and I had to watch the last nail-biting 30 minutes on my computer (USA won, sorry if that’s a spoiler). Still raining hard outside and it’s supposed to continue into the late hours tonight so my plan to go back to the gym might be cancelled…we shall see.

Onward!

I got in some outdoor cross-stitch time, tossed some peanuts to go with thr corn & bribe the local wildlife, said “hi” to a friend via text, got some more Christmas shopping done, and am settling down to “Wednesday” and contemplating sardines for dinner. (I need something light but protein-y after last night’s potato chip and guac binge. No regrets.) I have two nice lemons in the fridge, too. Oh, and capers! Sold.

Have a nice candle lit - I’m ultra-picky about scents, but this one is pleasant - and shall, as one says, soon assume the chillage position.

Apparently, Monkey’s a little smarter than my cats :). I’m quite sure at least one would stick their nose into the candle, even if it’s lit. Between that and their zoomies/chases, candles just aren’t a safe item here.

Rather unmotivated day over here. Spent some time moving needed info from Cozi to Evernote. I’m fed up with Cozi’s steadily increasing ads taking up the majority of screen real estate on their app, to the point that I can barely see what I’m actually trying to use the app for. Evernote covers all the functionality, and unlike Cozi, their paid tier actually offers enough added benefit to be WORTH paying for (IMO, YMMV, yada yada (grin)). I can either set DH up with his own free-level Evernote, then share items he needs or just give him the login info for mine. Or he can just text me about items that need to be added to shopping lists, which he’s quite prone to anyway. One of the few good points to Cozi was the ability to share the account so both of us could update shopping lists and such, but there are ways to get the same result without putting up with the “peek through all the ads to see a few lines of useful info” bit.

Yes, there is defilthing that needs to be done, but I’m rather tired and draggy today, so today’s brain-work day. Hopefully, tomorrow is physical grunt work day. I have managed a load of laundry, as well as retrieving the litter-catcher mat and washing it (somekitty apparently found the condition of their box unsatisfactory and expressed it by peeing on the mat. Neither one’s confessing, or trying to tattle on the other). Box has been duly scooped, but it’s heavy enough that I will not be able to put the mat back without help from DH. Scootching the mat out from under the box caused enough back pain, TYVM.
