Whaddya mean, it's December in the MMP?!?

Yeah, I know… been a while since I’ve wandered by. I’m no longer doing security for a bank - now I’m in healthcare. At least I’m still able to work from home, but I’m there as a contractor. Remains to be seen if they will want to keep me after that. PWAISDN is still working on recovering from losing a substantial portion of his clientele from the pandemic, and my mother has progressed from assisted living to memory care.

What was she driving? Another large pickup? We got hit some years back while in our Ram 2500. Their car got obliterated and our back bumper was a bit bent.

I was wondering about you the other day, but I wasn’t at my computer, and when I was back on line, well, the thought had flitted… Glad you popped back in!

What follows is update on BIL, so if you’re tired of hearing it, just skip ahead.

Today’s appt was with the gastro guy, but it was preliminary to the colonoscopy. The doc refused to scheduled the procedure till BIL saw a neurologist because of a gazillion reasons. So he’s got an appt at the hospital with a neuro on Thurs and FCD will be taking him. I hate that my sweetie has to do this, but I’m glad BIL is being seen now - something just ain’t right. So there’s at least some sorta good news.

Tobias woke from his nap with 102° fever, poor baby. I drugged him and took him home (stopping to pick up Roxy on the way.) He seemed to be fine, wandering around the house and playing and giggling and stuff, then around 4 he crashed on me and snoozed for 20 min or so, till his mom got home. She, BTW, has no voice - so we’ll see how long before their crud fells me. They’ll be coming here for supper tomorrow - Daughter has another parent meeting and I told her I would rather she get the kids here since I don’t like driving in the dark (or near dark.) I think I have a meatloaf in the freezer.

When I got home, FCD took me to get the truck - the bill was just under $1200, but like Paul said, even if we were inclined to get a new truck, it’d take months to get one. As it is, ours has only 72K miles (it’s a 2009 very basic work truck.) Anyway, it’s fixed and our VISA balance just took a jump. Dammit.

Meanwhile, I had a bowl of soup. What I want is a nice slab of chocolate cake. What I’ll have is an orange. Not quite the same…

Sounds like you need the chocolate cake for emotional well-being. Hope you don’t get sick, but really, with one grandkid in school and your daughter working at an elementary school, you can count on being exposed to anything going around. Little kids, especially grade-school age, are excellent germ factories.

It’s a middle/high school - grades 6-12 - and several of her students are from anti-vax families. So there’s that…

OK, gonna go get an orange and plant my butt in my recliner.

Dunno why I thought it was a grade school. Might have gotten confused with Roxy’s schools.

She used to teach 5th grade, but that was a decade ago.

Happy Toosday!

It was a bit chilly at the park this morning
I took the laser pointer with me today. It was a mistake to pull it out, Cerby got obsessed with it and went crazy over it. It kept him quiet and busy, until the power went out.
He is smart though. When we play ball, he sometimes tries to put the ball back into the ChuckIt himself.

Ripple’s sore is already looking better.
He won’t let my son put him in the truck anymore though. Nope, he refuses to jump in unless I am there. The vet looked at his tail, it’s okay.

When we got home, we saw the neighbor two doors up (the one I don’t like) was putting a fence in between her and the neighbor in-between us. We had to keep Cerby in because he was barking at them. The fence is not legal, it’s over six foot tall, but I’m not going to complain if it means I never have to look at her face or deal with her bitchiness ever again.

I was on FB earlier and I got a message about people you might know. A woman that I don’t know, who is friends with a cousin on my mother’s side (who lives in VA) and friends with a cousin on my father’s side (who lives in Baltimore) came up in the list. I’d love to know how she knows each of them, and if these two cousins know each other and have no idea they both are related to me.
I have friends and cousins who are mutual friends on FB, but we grew up in the same area and are around the same age.

That is certainly scary Yankers. Glad nobody was hurt too badly.

FCM, I had that problem when I got my new phone a while back. The games transferred over, but some went back to the beginning. There is a way to fix it, although I don’t remember how.

I know so many people who have lost their inheritance to greedy, sneaky relatives. I guess it’s not that unusual, but it sucks when you have to deal with it. The stupid thing though too, is my sister will get back a third of whatever she pays. If she is willing to forgo her third of the price, I’d agree to the lower price.
I should have called the lawyer today, but I wasn’t in the mood to deal with it.

Niece1 and I also had a long talk about Cerby. I didn’t know everything about him. I knew he had nipped a few people, but I didn’t know he had gone after the kids a few times. He was pretty out of control. She told me the kids want him back, she told them that isn’t going to happen. I haven’t seen it yet, other than with Barky mom, but he will sometimes snarl at you for no reason, then suddenly become cuddly. Or go from cuddly to snarling.
I think the main problem was, there was no authority figure in that house. That will make a dog very insecure and anxious. The house was chaotic, and he had little socialization.
He has gotten a lot better here, but there is something about him that’s off. Niece1 agrees, we just can’t quite describe it.

Yay on the sale VanGo!

I don’t decorate for holidays either sari. There just isn’t enough room to store decorations, plus, like you said, there’s taking them down. Hope that Ripple’s owie heals up quickly. You have my sympathy on the sister / estate issue.

Irked, came home, walked Nelson in the rain and et. I stopped at the apartment office to see WTF was up with the app used to pay. I wanted to pay early, since the CU doesn’t know where the heck my new debit card is (supposedly mailed a week and a half ago and my old one expires at the end of the month). She told me to just stop for a cashier’s check and she would waive the fee ($25) for paying with paper. She also said that there were a couple of others who had the same issue.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

You’re 20% of the way to a Wisconsin Old Fashioned.

Glad you’re OK.

Actually, I had a Manhattan today. But yay for the feast! and sardines are good, and good for you.

Considering I’m seen bent metal that was in a double walled box with 2" foam padding around it, yeah. Also, somebody ran over a loose .223 round today. Luckily it was the bullet end, or else we might have had a Code Brown throughout the building.

Welcome back. and ((((hugs))))

Welcome back!

Did you, um … did you bring any passwords with you, by any chance?

Re: decorating, I have a tiny Christmas tree that’s been in the family almost as long as I have. I didn’t bother last year, but I might make the effort to find space for it this year. Outlets are at a premium, and Monkey is sure to cause problems, but … hmmm, will have to have some thinks. If I don’t wash dishes for the next month (ha!) I could put it where the drying rack sits by the kitchen sink & then it would be right in a window (and outlet adjacet)!

I guess I could just set it on the floor for a few hours if I need the drying rack back.

Yay, okay!

On the “Boooooo, wah!” side of things, I’m down to my very last episode of Wednesday. No!! Now what am I gonna watch?!?

Speaking of Monkey, he got a few bites of sardines - seemed to be a fan, but I had a floor-picnic in front of the TV since I had a lot of toppings and not a lotta table space, and he hasn’t bothered the open can at all. I guess just “meh” to him … ?

Anyways, having a nice, hot cuppa Earl Grey and Doping around to put off my last episode as long as possible. The rats got some turkey-corn, so they’re happy.
Later, Mumpers …

The sewing class is on hiatus for December. I am caught up so I am spending time cutting all of the pieces for months three through six.

When I bought my Bernina 325 They told me that I could trade it in for the full price I paid for one year. They sent me an email with the link to their Black Friday sale and the next model up was discounted $400.00. I immediately headed back home and boxed up my three month old machine and traded up for $300.00. Back home I set the new machine up and put it through some paces. I had made seven eight in pinwheels and fourteen three in pinwheels for month two. I wondered if I could go smaller. The quilt my wife made that is now on our bed is made up mostly of two inch squares, so I gave it a shot:

I am very pleased with how it turned out and now I m looking forward to making some smaller pieces.

Nice trade!

… and nice work! They’re so wee and cute!

shoe I love sardines on saltines. They must be King Oscar in olive oil. None of that goofy mustard.,I’z tahred. I took a 2 hour nap but I guess my body needs more. I’m gonna watch another episode of Slow Horses then consider shut eye.

Howdy Y’all! Laundry got laundered, provisions were procured, Mexican N.O.L. got et, and nappage and day drinkin’ were accomplished. Quite the bzzy day for us! We got some shrimpies from the Pubic Sto’, so we shall have shrimpies 'n grits for sup tomorrow. YUM!

Yanker glad nobody was hurt. However, I hope she got a major fine for fiddlin’ with her phone while drivin’. She deserves that.

{{{gotti}}} LTNS! Hope you’re likin’ the new gig. Come back and regale us with tales of well, it’s the MMP, so whatever is on your mind.

Evening all. It’s still raining and thundering outside and the Weather Wizards say it will continue until early in the morning, so stayed inside for the evening, will try to make up for my Moanday sloth at the gym tomorrow (5% chance of rain, they sez).

Welcome home gotti. Tarry awhile if you can.

hippy, sounds like you made a good deal, and while no expert in such things, the pinwheel does look pretty nice.

Sari, I wouldn’t complain either (every one here in my subdivision has a 6-ft wood fence, it’s just the thing to do), guess it’s up to your neighbor if she wants to complain. And hope Cerby gets on the straight and narrow, he sounds like a fun dog with the devil isn’t in him.

FCM, hope you don’t catch the family crud; and glad it wasn’t more expensive than it already was.

shoe, did all my Xmas shopping today on-line, now just waiting for it to show up (IMHO gift cards were probably designed by a single male who did little if any shopping).

Just heard another roll of thunder, so the storming is coming back, so all y’all take care, I’m going reading (got three books open right now). Catch y’all on Hump Day.

Yeah, it started raining pretty hard here a bit ago. I got the munchies and nuked some insta-bacon (don’t judge!!) and let Monkey, who was snuggling on the bed with me, share a few tiny morsels.

Now I’m having one of those gel cups (like Jell-O but vegetarian? vegan? I dunno & don’t care, I just like the strawberry ones) and listening to the rain patter away.

I have a full tum-tum, a job I mostly like, a clean-ish home, a paycheck waiting for me tomorrow, a kitty purring in my lap, a joint & lighter next to me, and a local friend or two so I don’t get too lonely.

Life could - and has been - a lot worse than tonight.

(I know I’ve posted similar recently - my memory’s shit but it’s not that bad. I’m just trying to do better at focusing on the positive things.)

shoe We loves ya.

Boo vs. the Christmas tree and the tree won, so far. Assembled easily but exactly none of the lights work. Of course before I tried the lights I spent a trying hour+ cleared space in front of the window, excavating a power strip and extension cord, plus-shockaroo!-washing the big picture window, which is I am sure a first for this decade. I can hear the pearl clutching from here.

It was pretty amusing clearing the long concretized 12 inch high border of mucusy kitty nose prints. Took several passes get down to bare glass again. Ran out of steam (and oxygen-my effort tolerance is next to nil). Tomorrow is another day.

Tomorrow I will find some light strings at WalMart and throw them on the tree. Not about to mess with troubleshooting the embedded lights on it or even removing them. Low likelihood of success with the first and too damn much trouble for the second. It’s not a tree that anyone will be getting up close to and I plum forgot to enter the House Beautiful tree contest. If I can get it lit and visible from the street, I’ll be happy and pleased with my sorry self.

Such is the report from Chez Boo. A for effort, D for results.

Does anyone speak Dog? I put a fleece blanket in dogkin’s enormous crate, as she pulled out the old coat and towel her person had put in there, as she needed them to hide-and-seek her toys. She pulled that out, too (same reason) and is now lying on the cold, hard plastic in there. I allow her on the sofa, so why?

It was cold and snowy for our early morning walk; cold, windy, and rainy this afternoon, and now it’s cold, wet, and hurricaning out there, but we must brave it before bed. She’s more intrepid than I am.

shoe, you ARE a positive thing. When counting your blessings, don’t forget the blessing of being a blessing.

Exactly what I was thinking!

Multiple personality disorder?

Sounds like the ideal solution. Now she can stew in her own peppery juices.

Moooom, hope you don’t get sick. IME, high school kids are as germy as elementary kids; they’re just bigger petri dishes.

Ugh. This dog isn’t gonna walk herself…
