Whaddya mean, it's December in the MMP?!?

@Sunny_Daze
Happy Birthday

@missred

No. I just use an ordinary rotary cutter and plastic ruler method.

Gotta figure out which to do tomorrow: vacuum the living room and bedroom or clean the hard floors (kitchen/entryway and bathrooms). Pretty close to the same square footage and degree of neglect, so probably about equally odious. I know, especially with several days of stormy weather coming in, that my back will not allow me to do both in the same day.

Trying to decide which one classes as more urgent.

Round Two: hand-ne-down. Tree vs. Boo. The tree won again.

Went out and bought new lights (never shopping at WalMart again. Shelve half stocked, stuff just thrown on shelves, half the aisle are blocked with stocking carts and a 15 minute wait for me to do the clerks job and check myself out. Nope, just nope. Never again. I don’t need to save that 3 cents on the dollar if it costs me 30% of my grip on sanity). Put the lights on. Turned out I put the plug where the electricity enters at the top of the tree instead of the bottom. Duh. Took all the new lights back off. Decided the prelit lights (that no longer worked) needed to come off so that I could tell which plug was which-the old, dead lights or the new hopeful lights. Spent a hour with wire cutters digging out the old lights in 4-6 inch lengths. They were braided into the boughs so it was mind numbing. Roomie, the one not on her ADD meds because she doesn’t need them, clipped one of the new strands in half when her attention wandered, I decided that re-stringing the lights should wait til tomorrow after I went back to a store and replaced the string of lights. Just want be WalMart. Which leaves Target. Fortunately Target also sells booze. Their might need to be some dark rum on hand for Round Three. If I can’t get it lit up and in front of the window tomorrow I’m declaring game! set! match! in favor of the tree. Said tree will then be pitched out the back door in the general vicinity of the trash bins, never to darken my mood again.

sunny,
:tada::confetti_ball::birthday::cake::cupcake::notes::musical_note: happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you :notes::musical_note::cake::birthday::cupcake::tada::confetti_ball:

Happy Birthday, dear sunny! May all your birthday wishes come true! I made ze cookies. If anyone still wants the recipe, let me know.

We got a couple of inches of snow in the two hours between getting home from the afternoon walk and setting forth for the evening one. On the way home, Dogkins suddenly went berserk and started nibbling my sleeve, her leash, etc. She got the zoomies when we got inside. The longer I dog sit, the more certain I am that dogs and teens are way too much alike, the single exception being that dogs don’t hand in work to be graded.

Boo, I’m betting on you licking that tree tomorrow. Maybe don’t let your roomie help.

Looks like you can’t delete a post once it’s started. Tried to post a pic of my sauerkraut but I guess there’s no way SDMB will let me do that. Or is there a work around?

Hippy buthuthday, sunny!

Boo Best of luck with the lights. +votes for the rum, - votes for roomie help.

morty Put your pic on something like imgur and post the link. On a separate line from everything else.

I dropped off a couple of pieces at the close gift store this afternoon. On my walk from the truck to the shop, maybe a block and a half, 2 different people said they liked them. I told them to go to the store.

Let’s see if this works Dropbox - pchop.jpg - Simplify your life
Pork chop with home made sauerkraut and baby potatoes with whole grain mustard sauce.

Another dead-ass night, and I heard it was the same last night, too. Peeps be broke, yo.

At least I went in on a full stomach - made a yuuuuge potato hash before work (with bacon, sausage, and onions) and am settling in to polish off the rest of it, and of Wednesday. (Saved the final episode, don’t wanna wait any longer.) Monkey has chased some treats and is now howling at the back door, like imma let him out into the (very light) snow at one in the effing morning. Silly beastie.

I may have some soup, too, it’s a chilly night and the wind is howling and whhhhoooooooing again, which always makes it feel colder somehow.

The policy didn’t change. They just told me the wrong thing regarding the appraisal requirements for her contract type. And I have nothing in writing…

I had shrimp and grits for the first time at Red Rooster in Harlem this summer. It was fantastic!

It’s not in my belly! That’s what’s not to like!

Done right, they will make your eyes roll back in your head as your mind processes the greatness that was just popped into your mouth. Sadly, they’re more often not done right and both the shrimp and the grits are tough and rubbery/gritty.

Everyone blew their money on Tday and the following 3 (for some) day weekend

it was funny on thanksgiving night years ago(the early '00s) a relative was bored so he came up from anaheim after dinner and we went bar hopping … there only was one bar worth going to that was open and there were 5 -10 people in the bar which was mostly me my cousins and a couple of friends

We hung out for an hour or so and were going to leave but the owner said we could have a special … mixed drinks with 4 items and under were 2 bucks and all shots were a buck a piece …clearly he didn’t know what a bunch of bar flies we were cause although I don’t remember much that happens after 11:30 that night

…I’m told we spent 400 among everyone that night …probably would have been a grand or more if it was standard prices But chatting with the owner of the place he said Tday weekend was the slowest weekend for bars and such in general … I did feel a tad guilty we were drinking his 30 dollars a shot whisky but he didn’t mind … we were clearing out old stock he said

He could’ve asked meeeee if his inventory was in such dire straits. I would’ve been happy to assist!

Circling back to the O.P. it is now, officially, December.

Hoo, boy, let’s see what wonders and miraculous splendors 2023 shall bring!!
/s

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 38 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 59 and N.O.S. for the day. Tomorrow the highs will be back in the 70s. Weather be weird. We shall venture up to da 'Burg to have N.O.L. at a really good meat ‘n three place and then go early vote. That shall be the major activity of the day. The rest of the day shall be spent in the usual sloth, day drinkin’ and general overall uselessness.

red enjoy the staycation. Happy slothful day today!

Oopsie yay for the good test results!

doggio sometimes it’s best to just chant the mantra “it all pays the same” and then go home and drink. You already know that though, right?

gotti that is true about shrimp 'n grits. Done right it is a gourmet delight. Done wrong it’s why did you do this to perfectly good shrimp!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, as I am to be amongst the great unwashed, I suppose I must purtify and don appropriate attire. Life can be full of such bother!

Happy Thursday Y’all!

OK, peoples, I need some good weather vibes for Saturday. Right now they’re threatening 90% chance of morning showers. Saturday is the fund raising craft show at my daughter’s school - we don’t need rain - if it’s held indoors, we won’t get as many shoppers. We need nice weather, dammit!! The school needs new HVAC, so this needs to be the craft fair to end all craft fairs!!!

OK, I know we’re not going to raise that kind of money, but for this school, every penny helps. Maybe I’ll try a lottery ticket again…

I’ll be bringing Roxy here again after school, since Daughter is meeting with an electrician and an HVAC guy this afternoon to get estimates. Their current systems are horrible, plus it’s oil heat, so filling their tank is $$$$. I’m wondering if she’s regretting taking over as headmistress yet. Anyway, I guess I’m feeding them all tonight again.

FCD takes BIL to the neurologist today, and he’s taking his mom to Food Lion. I have to remind him again to use my phone number at checkout to get the MVP prices - other wise MIL will pay way too much. I don’t know why he didn’t arrange for me to take her on Firday when I’m kidless, but there it is.

Gotta get the fire going downstairs before the kid gets here - we had a chilly night. And so the day begins.

Happy December 1th, and Happy Thursday!!

Good morning everyone.

It’s currently 32 degrees and starting to snow again. The expected high is 35 degrees with snowfall expected through about 10:00 am. We got a couple/three inches up where I live.

It was interesting yesterday, I left my office down in West Olympia at about 3:00 pm where it was cloudy and about 39 degrees. By the time I got 10 miles north of there, a wintery mix was falling. Two miles north of that, it was more snow than rain. By the time I got I got about 10 miles from my house, it just snowfall and sticking and continued for several hours into the evening after I got home.

The commute in yesterday morning was pretty bad just because it had really stormed the night before and was still storming rain when I left. The standing water on both the state highway and I-5 was really, really bad.

At least I don’t have to go to the office today. I’ve had to go Monday, Tuesday, and yesterday and I’m sick of it, but I managed to get some stuff sorted while there.

Happy Belated Birthday, Sunny!

I hope for decent weather for the craft bazaar, FCM.

I have to work on getting the tree and Christmas village up tomorrow and that’s about all that’s on the agenda. Today I work and hope to finalize a contract to get old office furniture disposed of by Monday. I do not want to drive over the pass this weekend, and hope I can count on someone local to sign off on the paperwork. If not, I’m going to have to bite the bullet and head over the pass. I think I’ll opt to take Hwy 2/Steven’s Pass because Blewett Pass is pretty nasty in the winter and I have to take that after going through Snoqualmie Pass.

I have read, but retained little. I had a lot of catching up to do!

I hope you all have an outstanding day!

Happy Thorsday!

Happy Birthday Sunny!

No park today, I’m not feeling well.
I know it’s the pills I’m taking. One side effect is nausea.
I should have waited to eat breakfast after coming home from the park.

It’s cold outside too, and windy. It’s 33 feels like 22 degrees.
The dogs are all wound up, so there will be hell to pay later.

Glad you had good test results Ooopsie

I have to pay bills today, and make some phone calls.
I have a bunch of unopened packages from da jungle piled up in the living room that need to be taken care of.
Of course, there is always irk, which has become so irksome.
Although I know it’s more my attitude than irk.
And it’s not as crazy as what Doggio goes through.

@Mortimus

Your link worked. That looks delicious!

Feel better soonest sari!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and practicing sloth. Yesterday, it was 61F when I got up. This morning, it was 24F. Brrrrrrrrrrrr! My bones are hating the weather changes in the last week.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!
