What a disapointing winter or.....

Tahoe is getting absolutely hammered right now. Problem is, its coming down so fast and hard that Heavenly isn’t even able to open!

I’m just on the other side, and my place is getting rain, but I’ve got the house up there and expect a major job of getting enough snow cleared to get into the damn place!

It’s piling up real good, so should be great skiing once the storm moves on.

Live webcam of my favorite spot! Watch it long enough, and you’ll see me. http://www.skiheavenly.com/video-and-interactive/web-cams.aspx

Brrr. The only thing snow is good for is sitting inside where it’s warm and looking at pictures of it on the ground somewhere far away from you.

We had the high winds last night too and just before cooking dinner the power went out! Had to light the stove manually.

It came back on in the middle of the night and finally got some sleep.

The nice pretty snow is melting away! It was in the 40’s today

Might have more nasty weather tonight into tomorrow morning. Wait and see game again

There’s rain in Chicago in January. Rain! California would grovel at Chicago for getting rain this early in the year, even if it’s turning into ice.

ice here this morning, covered with snow now and mostly like either rain or more ice coming

(in the mean time, I shall be strangling my cousin this afternoon she is just too damn negative:smack::smack:)

Six inches at my house overnight! 20" at Tahoe!

Still falling. Forecast is all day!

55" at my house for this first 12 days of the year. Running out of room to plow it to and it’s only January.

anyone want to get rid of their snows?? I’ll move there and it will all go away. Wherever I move the snow goes away.

Wasn’t that a Carpenters tune?

I love sitting inside watching the blizzards blow down the road! Just like in the fall (my favorite season) watching the leaves bounce down the road, beautiful sight for me!:D:D

I live in New England and we had very little snow this winter , we been getting more rain and that mean ice ! Shit I rather have snow than rain. It been too warm too ,in the 50’s and that not normal ! Global warming isn’t a hoax!

Forecasters are predicting a huge blizzard for the East Coast. Waikiki is nice and toasty. Mmmm.

Mauna Kea on the Big Island actually did have a blizzard in the past week or so, with many inches of snow.

I’ve been to the top of Mauna Kea. There’s a little lake up there that was frozen solid. Gotta love Hawaii.

I don’t know how to make it snow for you, but I do know how to make it stop.

We don’t normally get much snow here before Christmas, but last November and December saw lots and lots of it. I finally got sick of it all and for the first time ever, in early January, hired a snowplowing service on a fixed-price contract for the remainder of the season.

Bam! Ever since then, whenever a snowy weather system comes around, it looks down and one of the snowflakes says, “Hey, is that wolfpup’s house down there?” Another one goes, “Yeah, he just paid big bucks for a snowplowing service.” And they all go, “Ha! Ha! Let’s get the hell out of here and go fall someplace else”.

Basically it’s been snowing everywhere else but in this immediate area I’ve conjured up an unnatural springtime, little daisies are peeking out of the ground, and birds are singing. The snowplowing guy came around with a contract for landscaping and lawn maintenance. I know that as soon as I sign up for it, it’s gonna start snowing. Even if it’s July.

I used to love winter. The snow-covered trees and branches, the snow drifts and especially that muted, quiet calm that befalls the world after being blanketed with snow. Those were some of the things I loved about snow and winter.

These days, I fucking hate winter. It doesn’t matter how many years one does it, using a wheelchair in MI winters sucks. You can’t wear nice clothes, unless you want to dress up to stay home. :o Your hands suffer the worst of it, too. Gloves do not keep out water, not even gloves that are supposedly “waterproof”. Also, getting stuck somewhere in the snow is an ever-present risk.

“Many human beings say that they enjoy the winter, but what they really enjoy is feeling proof against it.” ― Richard Adams, Watership Down

Gotta agree; having spent more winter nights than I’d care to admit without adequate shelter, I’m more than willing to never see another damn snowflake for the rest of my life.

…Not that I’m OK with global warming or anything.

Mods, is it against board rules to go out there & beat the snot outta Siam Sam for taunting…& then stay for a couple of days?
8-14" coming my way on Tuesday.
Given it’s just a few days before St. Patty’s Day, I shall be making [del]French[/del] Irish Toast on Tues (bread, eggs, [del]milk[/del] Bailey’s). Lunch will possibly be at one of the pubs/restaurants in town, travel method…snowshoes.

No, really. After 4pm now, and it’s been a lovely day. Not too hot, a refreshing breeze. Mmmm.

They’ve revised the forecast…upward, & added a blizzard warning, too!

3-4"/hour at times!

supposedly the ca mountains have 900 inches of snow this year … and since I live near some and all our watering holes are full WTF id all that water gonna go ? I remeber the big central valley flood from about 10 years ago … I wonder if little rock dam is gonna be full this year
