Today we went to St. Augustine to a really neat boat junk store - consignment stuff, new stuff, salvage stuff - a boat-bum’s paradise! Among other useful items, we found some fabric we wanted to use to reupholster the gawd-awful orange cushions in the main cabin. I figured since the price was so good, I’d get 15 yards - never hurts to have a little extra. At $4/yard, that would be $60. The guys in the shop started unrolling it, tho they really didn’t want to mess with it. So they asked if I wanted to buy the whole bolt - all 68.2 yards of it. They said I could have it for $80. How could I refuse???
So, I’ve got 68.2 yards of a fabric and I only need 12 yards or so to cover the cushions. I suppose I could use some of it to make covers for my van - it’s kinda grubby after 4 years of hard use. Still, 68.2 yards?!?!?
Why not paint large circles of red, blue, yellow and green all over it. Then you can spread it outside and invite all the people from SDMB over and have a really good game of twister. Probably get in the record books with that.

It’s not waterproof, so that takes care of the Wesson Oil party - sorry. It’s not durable enough for outdoor use either, so I can’t use it to make cockpit cushions. The pattern is abstract in pale colors, suggesting a southwest theme if you really look at it, so it’d be way outta place in a Renaissance venue.
I offered to make a tux for my daughter’s prom date - she was not impressed. Hubby suggested I make little saddlebags for the dogs - he’s so helpful…
Perhaps I could design and manufacture a limited run of Straight Dope halters and thongs??
I’m wracking my brain to come up with something useful - there’s a battered women’s shelter near here and I’m making afghans for them - wish I could come up with something using this fabric.
I think I saw this on one of those dime-a-dozen decorating shows that are all over HGTV these days… They used fabric to cover large styrofoam panels which were then mounted on the wall. It was designed to cover an ugly wall that couldn’t be changed (such as in an apartment with ugly paneling). It took a lot of yards (obviously) but what do you care! You could also cover a wall with the same fabric but use more it by gathering it on slender curtain roads that are mounted near ceiling and floor.
You could also cover a headboard, make a matching bulletin board, make curtains with a matching valance…
I’ve seen some rug designs that required tons of fabric, torn up into strips and braided or hooked.
But you’re likely to be sick of it before you use too much up. Ebay it!
Or maybe call a local high school home ec department, or a vocational program to see if they need fabric for the projects they’re doing to teach students to sew? My sister used to teach “Bachelor’s Ed” at the local reform school. She taught the guys to sew, cook, etc.
methinks we have a winner!! I’ll have my daughter talk to someone at her school, and if they don’t want it, I know there are several vocational-type schools in Jax.

I know a Laurel in Calontir who used to be in our household in the West. My lady & I made a pavilion, and there was enough left on the bolt for our friend to make one.
