Texas Tech is the only other team I follow besides Michigan.
Hail to the victors!

Eh. Penn State finally beat Iowa, at home. In steller fashion for the most part.
I had more drinks than that after the game. The Big Lame.
I think what you meant to write is “The Buckeyes snatched victory from the jaws of defeat!”
A GREAT day!
And the officiating crew from that game has been reprimanded and the head ref suspended. Sounds about right.
Illinois was idle, so it was the season highlight in Champaign.

I’d drink to if I was watching ND and Big 10 football.
I need some 'splainen.
Oklahoma puts up 63 on Texas, the program that spends the most on their football program than of any other. Then OK looks absolutely inept on their home field against ND. That game was such an embarrassment to OK it was beyond comprehension. The B1G teams at least looked competitive against them. OK just wilted.
So what’s the deal? Is the B12 that weak? I was at the ND vs. MSU game. MSU played miserably but ND didn’t look like world beaters. Far from it.
I turned on the game tonight thinking that OK would put up 90 on them, not get embarrassed. What a disappointment OK was tonight.
ND’s defense is good. They shut down the run, make teams one dimensional, and keep them out of the endzone.
Not worth starting a pit thread over…but don’t preface the clip of the Marcus Lattimore injury by saying it’s gruesome then proceed to replay it a dozen times?
Feel terrible for the kid though. Just heard on sportscentre that he broke his femur, patella, and all four major ligaments in that knee. He was a potential first rounder, too. I wish him well.
I know McGahee managed a career after his horrific knee injury (but if memory serves, he broke no bones and tore 3 ligaments).
Poor Lattimore. He’s got a long, painful road to recovery ahead and he’s played his last game. I just don’t see him coming back after that.
Glad (and surprised) to see my Dawgs beat Florida today. Where was this defense against S. Carolina? We should win the right to get our ass kicked by Bama, but I’ve never put much stock in UGA to go all the way, either to the SEC or National Title. Richt’s teams seem to lack the discipline needed to go 12-0, 13-0, and while he constantly puts up 9-11 win seasons, I don’t expect anything more.
Back to correct bad info:
no fractures but several torn ligaments. So better news.
ND’s defense is for real and their coordinator, Bob Diaco, is brilliant. Their front 7 is stout enough to stop the run without loading the box and the DBs play soft enough to just not get burnt. They make a team one dimensional, allow the dinks and dunks, and they know eventually they’ll get a sack or a turnover to keep them out of the endzone.
As for Lattimore, man I feel bad for him. It’s tough coming off of one ACL injury and then to have that happen is just a disaster. He seems like a genuinely good kid, too. I hope he was getting a good degree.
Nice win for my Huskers over Michigan. In our 2nd year in the Big Ten, we have beaten everyone, we avenged Northwestern, Michigan, Wisconsin from last year. Unfortunately our coach is usually good for one bonehead home loss a year, so watch out for Minnesota or Iowa.
I find myself rooting for Notre Dame. I know how much fun it is to hate their NBC contract, media bias, and BCS exemptions. But, I am impressed with their scheduling: Michigan, Michigan State, Miami, Stanford, Oklahoma, and USC coming up. If they run that table, I will be happy to see them play for it all; bias will never enter my mind.
Is it me, or have Notre Dame and Kansas State have more impressive victories than Alabama? I realize the SEC has earned the benefit of the doubt, but why should it be ND-KSU-Oregon for #2, while Bama seems immune?
Now I hear the Auburn coach is on a very hot seat, 2 years removed from a national title. Totally unfair. You cannot expect the boosters to pony up $180,000 for a QB every year.
It’s going to be damn difficult, certainly, but Willis McGahee did it.
Oh, snap.
But seriously, I would love to know what the hell happened to Auburn. One player – even a QB – can’t be the difference between 13-0 and 1-11. Chizik didn’t suddenly get stupid overnight.
You make valid points about the ranking of #1 - #4. I think there are computer polls that give weight to strength of schedule; I’m too lazy to look them up but I’d be curious to see how those 4 compare. But what we’re seeing is the heavy hand of pre-season rankings. If the first poll of the season had Notre Dame as #1 they’d be #1 right now.
And I don’t get the hate for ND, but it sure is out there.
ETA: OK, I do get it. They’re usually over-rated, so everybody automatically discounts everything they do. But some year they will truly surprise people. It might be this year.
In the BCS Standings, The computers actually have 'Bama ranked #3, behind a Tie between Kansas St and Notre Dame (who are tied at #1)
There are six computer rankings: Anderson/Hester, Billingsley, Collie Matrix, Massey, Sagarin, and Wolfe. Below is where the computer ranks each of the 5 undefeated teams in FBS.
Team AH RB CM KM JS PW AVG
Bama 3 1 2 3 7 3 3
Ka-St 1 3 3 2 1 1 1
Ndame 2 2 1 1 2 2 1
Oregon 4 4 5 5 8 5 5
L-ville 11 17 10 15 24 11 13
Billingsley formulas rank Bama number 1 while Sagarin’s formulas rank Bama 7th.
Finally! Miami’s defense actually looked ok this year! A lot of yards were given up to VPI, but they did well in the red zone, took advantage of turnovers, and actually got some breaks via Tech’s unforced errors. Other than the game against Bethune Cookman, I think this was the first Miami game this season where the Canes never trailed. Thank god for Thursday night home games. I can’t remember the last time Miami lost one, and I think there’s usually one on the schedule each season. But I hope I never see orange jerseys and orange pants together again. We’re Miami, not Clemson. Ugh.
On to Bama @ LSU, and Oregon @ USC. The remote control is going to get a workout Saturday night.
