I hate feeding the cat, washing dishes, and washing the windows inside the car.
What are these “domestic chores” of which you speak? The concept is unknown to me.
Cleaning the bird cage (cocatiel) and dusting. Yuk and yuk!
Cleaning the bathroom. Particularly toilets.
I hate washing the dishes also, almost as much as ironing. I think it’s the combination of heat and tedium that get to me.
I absolutely hate doing the dishes -->my hands get all wrinkly and pruney like nothing you’ve ever seen before. It’s just too disgusting.
But I love to iron. I like any chore that has the potential to be dangerous.
Same as scout1222.
The main thing that gets me about washing dishes is the frozen, slightly bent over posture. By the time I’m finished, I have the backache from hell.
How to wash dishes:
Fill sink with hot soapy water. Add dishes. Add several healthy glugs of bleach. Smoke cigarettes / play videogames / post to the SDMB for about 45 minutes. Fish out now-clean dishes, rinse and rack-drain. No actual washing necessary.
Worst chore:
Changing the catbox. The author has a sensitive nose and is obsessed with sanitation, so naturally this is a nightmare.
The rest of housekeeping, I do on Saturday, and it takes about an hour if I don’t stop in the middle. Systems, action plans, agenda items, itinerary. Stop for nothing. Then forget all about it for a week.
If you’ve got a sensitive nose, how do you deal with the, um, strong scent of bleach that your dishwashing method must constantly give your house?
I hate washing dishes and sweeping. I don’t mind toilet cleaning, or laundry, or the others - I don’t know why I hate those two. (I actually really like food shopping, unlike clothes shopping. I guess I’m just arbitrary and irrational.)
The other chores seem to have a beginning, middle and end.
But laundry just seems endless and monotonous.
I never catch up.
Ironing ironing ironing.
and dusting.
I will do anything else but don’t make me iron! I’ll trade anyone their toilet cleaning (which I think is great fun) for my ironing!
To me, it just smells like the pool at the YMCA. A fresh, clean smell. Also there’s an exhaust fan which runs a lot.
I second Caprese…I hate doing laundry. It’s ultra-tedious, more so that most other household chores (IMHO).
Ugh, I just hate doing chores, period (yes, I’m a single guy). I have never been good at getting things clean in spite of the effort put into such jobs. My dishes are always spotty (I want a an automatic dishwasher soooo badly!). The kitchen floor never has that “just mopped” look to it when I attempt to mop it. The list goes on.
The chores I hate doing the most are:
Cleaning the bathroom, especially the toilet. I don’t like cleaning the tub, either.
Washing the dishes. I will reuse one bowl, one set of utensils and one glass for as long as I can, rinsing them off between uses.
Changing the litter box. I love my cats dearly, but how I hate the odor of their litter box. It’s the one thing I can’t put off for later, unlike most other chores.
I don’t mind vacuuming or sweeping, which I will do whenever I get a rare burst of ambition to do these things.
My house is a constant mess as a result of my aversion to doing chores, which is why I hardly ever invite anyone over.
Cleaning the kitchen, especially the fridge.
See, I’m good about throwing away old, inedible food/rinsing, washing and drying dishes/wiping stuff off the counters. The people I live with at times are not.
I hate organic mess. Hatehatehate it. The kitchen is just GROSS.
I HATE dishes. I can’t STAND to do them!
I also hate to have to be the one who stops to pick up things on the way home from work. When I get off, I WANT TO GET HOME IN A HURRY!
Sorry for the caps. Hope that didn’t drive anyone nuts. haha
I hate chores, neverending, but the two that came to mind immediately here,
-
Putting laundry away. I don’t mind washing/drying and folding, but the clothes seem to always sit in their little laundry baskets til I can’t tell what’s clean and what’s dirty.
-
Washing Pots…dishes, glasses, cutlery, all fine, but pots, yuck.
-
Unloading the dishwasher and putting dishes away
-
Folding clothes and putting them away
-
Cleaning the mirror in the bathroom. I seem to get quite a bit of the little toothpaste spots on it.
-
Cleaning mini blinds… using the vacuum attachment thing
-
Cleaning the garage
Washing dishes by hand must be the worst job in the world. It makes your hands go pruney, and you always end up slopping water all over yourself. Needless to say, although I’ve had my dishwasher for three years now, I still get a huge thrill every time I load it up, because it’s doing everything for me!.
Dusting is a crappy job as well. Same goes for anything which has to be cleaned by wiping or scrubbing. Doesn’t get done until absolutely necessary, and even then only if I’m in the right mood.
On the other hand, vacuuming is pretty satisfying, and I take immense pride in spending ages getting my laundry done just right. Perhaps I need to get out a little bit more.
