Sigh. I can’t do my job right now because the thing I need is on the top shelf and everybody taller than me is at lunch.
Life just sucks
I need to get out for a while, every time I make a plan some sh comes along to ruin it.
No, 2 Bs. Compare to Ems’ nick of mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Jynxster’s Public Service Annoucement Tuesdays
Remember to take the extra Sweet n’ Sour sauce packets out of your purse and put them into your desk at work. Don’t leave them for five days until they, battered and bruised, leak all over your keys, random change, and chopsticks container but thankfully not your kindle or phone.
This annoucment has been brought to you by Jynxster, a.k.a “Sticky Fingers”
Thanks VB for clearing that up for me
I found out yesterday that my sister didn’t know what ‘headdesk’ meant. So I got to fight a little ignorance. Everyone here know it, right?
Note to self - remember to drill the peas tonight.
:dubious:
“My hovercraft is full of eels!”?
I finally set up the hdtv I bought months ago and it’s taking some time to adjust. The old set was a projection model that had a problem with the lcd chip degrading and giving everything a greenish tint so all of the colors had gradually started to skew. It was a little annoying but most of the time I’m reading something online anyway so it wasn’t that big of a deal and moving the old set wasn’t something I was looking forward to doing. But I finally got around to it and seeing things in true color is almost disturbing now.
Both sets are 50" but this one seems smaller. It is less bulky obviously and has a much narrower frame for the screen but the dimensions still seem off. I have it sitting on 48" mobile industrial rack with the other A/V stuff so I thought 50 was the max I could do but I think I could have gone to 55" with no problem. Suppose I’ll have to measure more carefully when prices come down on the 4k UHD sets. I made the mistake of jumping on the 1080p bandwagon with my old Sony SXRD set and I decided I wasn’t going to do that again this time.

A few years ago, DH had a jar of homemade pickled watermelon in his bag - a gift from someone who knew I liked the stuff enough to eat one or two pieces a year. It’s tasty, but not something I want to eat a lot of.
The jar leaked. The minor miracle was that enough of the syrupy stuff got into his phone to pickle its innards, but not a drop got to the “Your phone got wet and your warranty is void!” sticker. The guy at the phone shop thought the phone smelled funny, but the “I got wet” sticker was still pure white, so they swapped the phone with a raised eyebrow, but no quibbles. :dubious:
The funny thing is that my phone had previously gone through the laundry, and its sticker was as red as it could be, but the phone worked once it dried out. Apparently, Motorola made phones that could survive immersion and agitation in soapy water, but a couple drops of watermelon syrup will kill them dead.
Speaking of DH - he’s out of town on business tonight. What’s for dinner?
I’s home. I’ve got a sack of russets washed, oiled, and in the oven to bake. When they’re done, I’ll scoop 'em out, mix the innards with cheese and butter and stuff, and re-stuff 'em, and most will end up in the freezer for future meals. Yum.
Work still sucks, and if I could find something better that pays as well, I’d be gone in a heartbeat. I try to be Zen about it, but I hate doing a half-assed job because that’s what these people want. :smack:
It’s a chilly 61° outside and 67° inside. I’m thinking some windows will be lowered or closed overnight. Much rain is forecast for the balance of the week. Dreary abounds. Oh well…
Happy Tuesday anyway!
I got into the office at 10:00 a.m. today, our day to all work in the office. I asked my co-worker who we haven’t seen for weeks if she was coming in, and she said no, I’m off in 30 minutes. Apparently, she’s been suffering from insomnia and has decided to start working at 3:00 a.m. My slight issue with that is I would liken this to working at Starbucks and showing up at the store at 4:00 a.m. and sitting there for two hours before it opened and claiming to be working. And of course, also, if this will become her new schedule, then I guess that means she will not be coming into the office at all. (Though she could, I would think, after she drops her son off at school at around 8:00 a.m.)
Back from Sah-son’s driving lesson.
I decided to grab something to eat and sit in the parking lot and wait for him because sitting in the parking lot for 2 hours seemed more pleasant then coming back here.
It’s interesting to sit in a parking lot and watch the word go by.
I saw some miserable walk by with 3 young kids and she was screaming at the middle one and finally gave her a whack on the ass. From the kid’s non-reaction I suppose she is used to it. Then another man came by with his young daughter, holding her hand and they played hide and seek around some posts on the sidewalk.
A new restaurant opened up called the Jalapeno Crab, advertising Tex-Mex seafood. Hmmmm…
The Chinese carry out where I worked almost 40 years ago had exactly 4 customers while I was sitting there. There must have been a laundry mat nearby because every now and then I got an overpowering whiff of flowery fabric softener, as well as seeing people walking by carrying laundry. One woman had a cute little laundry basket on wheels and had a baby sleeping on top of the laundry.
One woman came up to me to gab a bit while she was waiting for her friends, who then wanted to know who I was and why was she talking to me.
I was surprised at how many people were walking or riding bikes.
Almost everybody was holding a cell phone to their head.
So I had chicken tenders for lunch, Sah-son got his pizza, Sah-dog is getting his pizza crusts and everybody is happy.
Pizza Night and a Caesar Salad all from Pink’s the “Real Bacon” people. I am happy
Cheers all
Jim
Back from guarding the empty car park- exept, today it actually wasn’t empty! A bunch of kids who apparently haven’t shown up in 6 months, but are the reason we’re hired to patrol the place showed up.
Still wasn’t actually anything for me to do, mind, as they were trying to get in to the building site next door, chucking stones at one of the builders, so the police were called before I even got there.
It’s all very silly there- there’s two sets of cameras on site, and two companies running patrols, all run by seperate companies. Not only is there no coordination at all between them, our company appears to be the only one of these that has any contact with any of the others, 'cos we occasionally wander down to the office run by the guys who have one set of cameras and chat to them. If they were trying to design a system that was both expensive and inefficient, they couldn’t have done much better.
Howdy Y’all! Irk was well, it lived up to its name. Between havin’ to call up people to ask ‘em why they have not turned in timesheets (payday is Firday) and listenin’ to folks just bald face lie to me about stuff they say they’ve done but haven’t. Yes, I really can tell whether or not you have been in those online courses you’re supposed to spend at least two hours a week workin’ on and I can tell whether or not you spent at least two hours total as well. I told you I would know and now I’m showin’ you I know. Fun times!
Anywho, dindin has been cooked and et. Kitchen is clean. I spent some ummm… “quality time” with OYKW and life is good.
I’ve got a dozen or so N.O.T.s stuffed, wrapped, and in the freezer. We had the skin caps for supper. I’m going to assume the knit position soon.
Sad news yesterday - a couple of folks from FCD’s HOG chapter were killed Sunday night. A woman in an SUV made a left turn in front of them. It was around midnight, so how the HELL did she miss seeing the oncoming headlights?? She was charged with inattentive driving and some other stupid thing. Meanwhile, a man and a woman are dead for no reason. Needless to say, I hate that **FCD **rides. I think the biggest killer of bikers is the stoopit driver.
On a lighter note, I had a dream last night that Stephen Colbert was elected pope. I never did find out what was going to happen to the Colbert Report.
Oh yeah, and Boehner is an ass. You may quote me.
Stupid people really suck, why are there so many of them?
Laundry done, dinner is et, watching hockey on TV. Life is good.
Off to knit. The hat won’t make itself…
I have visions of little green veggies lined up in neat ranks for marching practice.
