“Battle Hymn of Lt. Calley”-song glorifying a war criminal and mass murderer.
I really like this song.
I am really annoyed by
“ROXanne”
Roxanne, you don’t have to put on the red light
Those days are over
You don’t have to sell your body to the night
Roxanne, you don’t have to wear that dress tonight
Walk the streets for money
You don’t care if it’s wrong or if it’s right
How about Brokencyde?
I have actually had arguments over whether or not this band is horrible on purpose and whether their fans like them in a purely ironic way. It really seems like their music is engineered to be a microcosm of everything that sucks in modern music. You’ve got overuse of autotune, bad rapping, background screaming, pathetically lazy electronic backing music, trite lyrics, and so on. They describe their music as a combination of crunk and screamo.
I can “like” music ironically. I feel that way about LMFAO, whose music I interpret as being stupid on purpose, and funny and fun. I also enjoy 2 Live Crew in the same way. But this? This is just too horrible. It’s so bad it’s good, and then back around to bad again. It’s too much of an assault on the eardrums to derive any smirking amusement from.
This and ‘Don’t Worry Kyoko’ are my default choices when someone requests a song from me. Most people know better now.
Winner winner chicken dinner. No other posts required, IMHO.
For really bad songs from a major group, you just can’t beat “Squeeze Box” by The Who.
'Mama’s got a squeeze box she wears on her chest, and when daddy comes home he never gets no rest, because she’s playing all night…"
Who in The Who thought this shit was a good idea?
You take that back! Wock and Woll Santa is a gem!
Can’t let a thread like this go without my Go-To terrible, terrible song.
“Good Morning Starshine.”
Giddy glup gloopy nibby nabby noopy la la la lo lo
Sabba sibby sabba nooby abba nabba le le lo lo
Tooby ooby walla nooby abba nabba
Horrid
“Apache” is kind of generic 70’s pop, but the video is what makes it so over the top terrible. I’ve grown to love this: Tommy Seebach, in this video, cracks me the hell up.
“MacArthur Park” has dreadful lyrics, but it’s a vocalist showcase, and as such, I can’t hate it. Donna Summer did a wonderful version. Carrie Underwood did a great version on Idol. Despite the generic Country-pop she’s done since then, she has a great voice.
Rick Astley’s just typical pop. I even feel an odd sort of affection for it, since the Rickroll was born. I won’t purposely listen to it, but most horrible song? Kinda far down the list.
“We Built This City”, I think, is the worst song by any group, and writer, that had produced great tunes in the past. It’s gotta be the greatest gulf between good and bad by any band.
God that’s so damn awful!
