What are you drinking?

Well, it’s a Franconia Dunkel right now, next up is my Ranger Creek Small Batch #2 from 2012. I think it’s aged long enough, now. That yeast has to have completed its work and died.

After that, it’s probably water. I moved furniture in 101 degree heat today.

Pyramid Outburst Imperial IPA.

Rodeo Clown Double IPA from Karbach Brewery in Houston. I love IPAs, but some are so dry and woody it’s like chewing on tree bark. Rodeo Clown has a nicely balanced taste, and enough kick that you’ll only want one or two.

Vodka, mixed with a fruit water type beverage.

Fat Tire

Forgot to add: my wife is having a Guinness, and the baby is drinking some sort of weird fatty, nutrient rich sweat. Sounds disgusting, but she loves the stuff.

Beer.

ETA: Sleeman Draft.

I found out today that Safeway carries Red Stripe!! Fell in love with it on a recent trip to Florida!

Ommegang Hennepin Ale

Homemade soda water.

Ice-cold Fresca.

And now I’ve moved on to a home made Dunkelweizen. After a year of sitting around, the yeast finally seems to have covered for all my stupid. Thanks, yeast.

Anchor Steams.

It’s about 8pm Saturday night, August 31. And I am enjoying my traditional end-of-the-month Singha beer. I try to do it every month in celebration of making it through another month, all the while hoping I am not premature and don’t die before midnight.

Homebrew! An extract recipe with chinook and cascade hops. Mmmmmm.

Grimbergen Dubbel, a Belgian abbey beer, brewed according to a recipe from 1128, to include some irrelevant detail. Still, tastes pretty fresh.

I somehow got myself addicted to Belgian beer on my holidays, it’s probably a cardinal sin for a German. I regret nothing.

Sunday morning now, and we have some coffee brewing. Starbucks espresso roast.

Europe has fought over Belgium several times. Admit it! You all just want their beer secrets!

Tonight, I’m drinking up some Schmaltz (a David’s Slingshot, and a Genesis), a Rahr’s Ugly Pug, plus a Saint Arnold’s Icon Yellow, a Belgian style brewed in Texas. From the description, the Yellow is winter ale malts combined with saison yeast. It’s bright and sharp, but with a nice smooth malty finish, mmm.

Earlier I had a Goose Island root beer for the first time; pretty good, but not the greatest. Also, I had Barton Springs’ Zilcher Park Cola for the first time today. It had enough vanilla and sugar to taste more like a cream soda than a cola. Not bad, but not what I expected. It’s August, so lots of iced tea and a Dr Pepper, as well. It’s been a good beverage weekend!

Bottled water. Specifically, Singha brand, maker of the beer of the same name.

I’m not even sure I want to know what they put into their brew, having no Reinheitsgebot and all; I’m kinda drinking it under a ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’-policy.

Sounds biblical!
