She wanted a ‘real’ MP3 player, not the COBY with the sandisk card slot that she’d been using. She didn’t want anything ‘Apple’ under pain of Death. I got her a Zen Vision:M 60GB. I got her all the car accessories, a charger, and a PlayDock ZEN to plug it into, in case she wants to ‘boombox’.
She has a brand new Razr, so I got her all the car accessories for that as well as a data-suite & cable, so she could synch her address book as a back-up, download ringtones free from her PC, and upload any pics she might take.
I also got her a game she asked for: world series of poker for Gamecube as well as a Disney Christmas sweater.
(None of this may be romantic for any of you, but she Hates jewelry, says if I buy her a watch, she’ll make me wear it, gets p/o’d if I buy her chocolate, and says she hates my taste in clothes. She wants what she asks for. Period.)
I took her to Kauai on a 2 week business trip in November. I told her my trip to Tempe for a half-ironman in October was mine. It actually cost more than taking her to Kauai, since I used frequent flyer miles for most of her flight, and the company covered our condo. Bike crap is so expensive!
Mine is a secret poet and short story writer. Not many people know that about him. So I got him an engraved fountain pen and a hand made leather bound journal with handmade paper.
It sounded like a good idea about 6 weeks ago but now I am not so sure…he also got hoodies for work.
a pair of slipper boots from lands end (the dive master has the coldest feet in creation), the miniseries ‘band of brothers’ now that it’s price is not so ridiculous, and another dvd tower. he has more dvds than og.
The wife is getting a couple of DVDs, some new slippers, a few random items she had her eyes on, a T-shirt that says “Jesus hates the Yankees” and dinner at a nice restaurant in Vegas. We’re trying to keep it at the “stocking stuffer” level this year. She has a loose definition of that, because I know she’s getting me a new Heinkels kitchen knife, in addition to other stuff. (I peeked!)
Mrs Geek is getting accessories for her bicycle, really nice wool hiking socks from REI (she is a Girl Scout leader and is going camping twice this winter), music CDs from the kids, and since this is an even year, a new purse.
Before the new purse tradition started a few years ago, she wouldn’t buy any purse that cost more than $14.95. It would last around 6 months and she would buy another crappy *-Mart purse. So now she gets a nice leather one every other year.
Well the big day is closing in. So far I’ve gotten her…
[ul]2 bottles of perfume[/ul]
[ul]a new pair of her favorite shoes (she asks for these every year)[/ul]
[ul]a big basket of girly stuff from Bath & Body Works[/ul]
[ul]A massage and haircut from her favorite salon (another thing she asks for each year)[/ul]
I’m thinking of getting her…
[ul]a new winter jacket as the one she wears now is pretty ratty[/ul]
[ul]a bonsai tree or something similar for her office[/ul]
[ul]maybe some diamond stud earnings if I can find some that won’t break the bank[/ul]
How about the rest of you guys what did you get for that someone special?
Ladies – tell us clueless dolts what would you like to get.
The other day an ad for this came on, and my wife said, “That looks neat.” She should know better than to say such a thing in the weeks before Christmas! Can anyone say “stocking stuffer”? (Can you also say “sleep on the couch”?)
Seriously, I’ve recently received a crash course on the various attributes of seamstress shears and retail outlets for same. So tonight I’m gonna go buy me some pinking shears - and embroidery scissors - and seamstress shears - and some other ones I don’t know the names of…
Might get the scrubber anyway just as a gag!
During a recent family gathering, 3 of our nieces/nephews said they had never heard of Chia pets! Guess what they’re getting?
