What are you listening to right now?

Around the World (La La La La La) by ATC. The guys in that video are the gayest looking people I’ve ever seen, though.

Also, Why Oh Why by ATC. I think it actually might be better, even though it was not a hit compared to Around the World.

Greatest Hit by Annie—very black 70s disco-ish for a Norwegian singer. Somebody else post so I don’t feel guilty for triple posting!

‘Get Older’ – Dan Deacon. I’m looking forward to his new album.

Je Veux Te Voir by Yelle. It’s in French, but it’s the raciest song I’ve ever heard (version with badly-translated English subtitles). It’s also a lot easier to understand the meaning of something in French by reading it than hearing it (the first link I posted has English subtitles). The song is about Cuiziner from the French rap group TTC (but is not really a rap song), saying he is ugly and has a small you-know-what. I like the line, “You dream of neon Hummer designed by Akroe, but you don’t have an license; you always take the subway (“metro”, rhyming with Akroe)!”, though.

I just bought a bunch of albums on iTunes with a $50 gift card, so I am enjoying new-to-me music.

Right now, it’s “Out There On The Ice” by Cut Copy from their album In Ghost Colours. I’m really liking this album so far…it reminds me of Lifestyle, one of my favorite locally-known bands from Boston. So earnestly synthy and 80ish.

“Trust Us” from the wonderfully titled Waxed Oop by Fast ‘n’ Bulbous, a spiffy instrumental Captain Beefheart cover band with a four-piece horn section, led by Beefheart alumnus Gary Lucas.

Tudo Que Você Podia Ser and O Trem Azul from Milton Nascimento & Lô Borges’s “Clube Da Esquina”. I’ve been listening to solely Brazilian music for the past few days, and this is probably my favorite album from that country along with Jorge Ben’s “A Tabúa de Esmeralda” (posted earlier).

Yup, I’m listening to all the U.S. albums chronologically. I’m liking them so far, and it will be cool to hear how they grow and change. I took your advice and started a thread so I can keep track of this thing.

Sleepwalker Part 2 by Younger Brother. Up next: MIDIval Punditz.
