I’m listening to really cool version of “Kashmir” by Jimmy Page and Robert Plant accompanied by the Cairo Symphony Orchestra, IIRC.
Anyway, what cool, obscure thing are you listening to right now? Or what shameful pop trash are you listening to? I just thought this would be a cool thread that would help us all get to know each other better .
At the moment, I’m listening to a song that my sweetheart Stephen (or Simetra, as he’s known here) wrote for me called “Heartbeat.” It drives my little sister insane, because I play it over and over for hours on end. I think she’s just jealous that I get to be a muse and she doesn’t.
I’m not sure how obscure this is, but people always look at me like I’ve got three heads when I mention it, so… “Are You Kiddin’ Me?” by Anouk is a fun yet angsty song that I was listening to earlier.
At the time when I first clicked onto this thread: Harry Nilsson singing “I Guess the Lord Must Live in New York City”. By the time the thread loaded: Kitaro, “The Mist”, opening track on INDIA. And yeah, that Page & Plant sounds pretty good. I like the version of Battle of Evermore that they cut on NO QUARTER!
“Silly Fool” by Better Than Ezra. Such a great song. Parts of it are so me, like
“Well you call yourself a realist, but it’s really just the fear that’s holding you, so you separate and alienate anyone who tried to pull you through.”
No effin way! It took me 10 years to find my copy of “Black Noise”, the only FM CD I’ve ever found. You must have lived in Canada in the 80’s, or have used Napster.
I’m listening to the CD player on All Disks, Shuffle. Harry Nilsson’s ‘Jump Into The Fire’ just ended, and The Grateful Dead’s ‘Uncle John’s Band’ came on. Let’s wait for it — OK, third song is ‘Do You Know the Way to San Jose’. WTF? Oh yeah, it’s the Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Welcome to the Pleasuredome CD. Forgot that was on there.
You kidding? I love that soundtrack. I remember waiting anxiously for the movie and the soundtrack to come out. It was big musical doin’s, at least for my little circle of friends.
