*Show Off Time* What Are You Listening To Right Now?

“Walk The Dinosaur”, by Was Not Was. I’m in an '80s mood.

It’s a world of laughter a world of tears
It’s a world of hopes and a world of fears…

Sorry, just getting ready(Disney World, here I come!). Really, that song should not be on any CDs; it is already burned into millions of minds all over the world.

No, I am not listening to a Disney CD, though. I am listening to some Placebo tracks (right now it’s Scared of Girls) that I downloaded from CDs just today. Is my music choice surprising to any of you? Oh, it doesn–you there, in the blue shirt. It surprises you? How could it? Oh, well, I will just have to pound this fact into your feeble little brain even more. MWAH-HAW-HAW…

Sorry. I must be up too late.

Right now, I am listening to ‘Hey Pretty’ by Poe.

Like Captain Amazing, I’m listening to the fan on my computer…BUT if my stereo weren’t broken I would be listening to the new Dave Matthews Band CD, Everyday.

Not obscure to me, but I AM surprised that she’s even known outside of the Netherlands! And yes, she does have some catchy tunes. She used to be really pretty too, but then she decided to get these two gold front teeth. Ugh.

No music here at work, bu this morning before I left, I listened to Twelfth Nights The Collector. All 19 minutes of it. It’s one of the greatest songs ever written (IMHO), and I’d be really surprised if there’s another Doper out there who’s familiar with the band.
OK, maybe one of our English friends with a liking to progressive rock may have heard from them. And maybe someone who’s studied at the University of Reading may accidently know the singer, because he’s a law professor there.

Kinobe, Soundphiles.

And damn but it’s good.

The music from the short “Peculiar Penguins” on the Disney Channel in the background here.

Airline to Heaven sung by Wilco and written by Woody Guthrie. Was Woody Guthrie rich when he died I wonder? I’m just going to try and find that out.

I’ve got Morning Edition on my radio. The guy at the next desk has Lex & Terry. A little bit earlier, I was listening to the idiot in the next cube discuss his love life.

“God Only Knows” by the Beach Boys.

Sniff…I left my ABBA*Teens CD in Germany. Dang, I miss that CD right now.

Cd’s of my friends’ bands…** Crush ** and ** Effigy **.

I love the ** Singles ** soundtrack too. I love “Dyslexic Heart” and “Chloe Dancer-Crown of Thorns.”

In the Moonlight, by Albert Ketelbey. Had The Planets on earlier… but I have to work, and Ketelbey is much less demanding listening than Holst…

I’m listening to Cigarette by Ben Folds Five - not obscure in the slightest, but hey.

From The Last Polka
Cabbage Rolls And Coffee!!!..
Quasi

Swervedriver’s Mezcal Head

Another vote highly recommending this movie. “Just remember, we are loved in Belgium.” Whatshisname, lead singer, Citizen Dick

Right now I’m listening to Morning Edition on NPR. Specifically, they’re doing a story on the myth of Muhammed Ali.

Judas Priest’s Sin after Sin.

I’m listening to the strained sounds of “The Work Mix”:

The a/c blowing, phones ringing, Bob & Tom on the radio, multimedia documentation being created, and someone with an annoying, hacking throat problem.

Let’s see, since I just started Winamp, it’s “Don’t tell me you love me” by Night Ranger. Next is Thomas Dolby, “Eastern Block”, the rest of this song list is either Def Leppard, Alice Cooper, or Warrant.

Mmmm… I love my muse.

I’m listening to a few different bands at the moment. Slip - Abandoned, which is an alternative rock band from 1995 that didn’t make it anywhere and never got a label, but one of my producer friends managed to find them and suggested I give them a listen and tell him what I think. I’m also listening to Tool - Lateralus, which I’m not extrememly impressed by, but it’s not bad. Reminds me a lot of Undertow, just with a much cleaner sound.

And then of course, I’m listening to Paul Oakenfold, since I managed to snag the Swordfish soundtrack from Morpheus. I like it. Tho’, who doesn’t like Oakenfold?
