What are you paying for gas?

Philly: $2.679 (at the super-cheap place).

I drive an econobox, and usually refill when I’m down to a quarter tank. I’ve never paid more than $20 to refill the car until this summer.

Bolton (UK) 89.5 pence per litre which works out at $6.08 per gallon. Damn taxes.

And let’s just head-off all of the inevitable smart alec responses who are going to say “zero” because they walk to work (like me).

St. Louis: Friday I filled the tank at $2.499. I notice those stations have dropped 2-3 cents.

Chicago suburbs: Last Thursday, I paid $2.85/gal.

The good news is, with my Prius getting about 50mpg, I only have to fill it about every 2 weeks.

The bad news is, by the time I have to fill it up again, it’ll probably be over $3.00/gal (regular).

I’m embarassed to say that I don’t actually know. I never pay much attention because I’m in the oil & gas industry and anything extra I pay at the pump is offset by an increase in job security so for me it’s a wash.

I will say this though… judging by news reports there’s just a whole heck of a lot of people that aren’t paying. Theft of gas is skyrocketing here. It’s not just drive-offs either. Theives are stealing hundreds of gallons from the underground tanks at night, they’re siphoning from a business’ vehicle fleet, etc.

I heard some astronomical number last night on what gasoline theft was costing the retail industry each year - $350 Million. Could I have heard that right? A quick Google check reports 112M in 2003, 237M in 2004, so yeah, that’s probably ballpark.

Wow … that’s closer to the prices here in Louisiana than I would have guessed.

Locally: $2.44 – $2.46 is about the cheapest. Many places are still in the low $2.50s. Prices have decrease about 3 cents everywhere since the weekend.

Sad to remember that the cheap place nearest my home was selling gas at $2.05/gal on August 6th. Chinese demand for oil, my foot!

$6.08 per gallon? Holy cow. That means to fill up my tank in the UK, it would cost me…um…my first born, or my right arm.

I was never very good with math, but I know that it would cost me a lot of money.

$2.859.

I have to fill up about once a week. Not bad for a 45-minute commute each way.

I love my Honda Civic, really I do. I kinda wish I could have gotten a hybrid, but that just wasn’t in the cards when I got my car.

Last I got it, it was $2.839 here. I’ve gotta get my Civic checked out, though, it seems like I don’t get the mileage that I should.

$3.99 a pound for shrimp.

Trust me a few hours later I can’t stand to be in the same room as the smells that come from the gas I produce.

Most recent fillup was at $2.499/gal.

Prices here range between $2.69 and about $2.75 for 87 unleaded.

Yep, just yesterday I paid $2.75/gal for the cheapest unleaded at the Herndon (northern Virginia) Citgo. My poor little tank was nearly empty, so the refill cost $26.

I’m very lucky in that I have a ridiculously short commute, so I don’t have to fill up very often – and I’ve been avoiding the 100-mile round-trips to MD to visit family/friends. But I’m starting to miss said family/friends, and I go back to school one day a week starting on Tuesday. I just hope that prices manage to stay below $3/gal!

Just drove by a station in Sacramento California, the price for Premium was $3.22 per gallon!

$0.98 CDN a litre ($3.71 / US gallon) for diesel.

130 L tank, so a fillup is $127.40 CDN or $106.56 US.

In the Albany, NY area, I paid $2.73. I hit an all-time record of $25.00 to fill up my Hyundai Accent!

$3.00+/gallon for diesel in Reno. It costs me over $70 to fill the work truck.

A couple of hundred km out of Rio de Janeiro yesterday on BR-101, I paid around R$2.50 per liter of hi-test (the guy claimed that regular was out, a transparent ploy to get me to pay more).

Figuring that the Brazilian Real is around 2.38/dollar these days, it appears that I paid around four bucks per gallon.

Of course, I´m driving this little Fiat Paulio that sips gasoline, so it ain´t so bad. Makes me appreciate the prices in Jersey, though.

$2.69, down from $2.75 last week, here in the wilds of northern Illinois.
