What are you saving up to buy?

New driveway and a new furnace. Next year? Maybe some furniture that matches.

A new iMac, as well as that whole freedom from debt thing.

I have a trip to Chicago coming up in August, but I don’t expect to spend that much. It’s just a chance to get out of the D.C. August heat for a week.

As for the iMac, I have no practical reason for needing a new computer. Oh, wait, I do! I’m a tall boy, and my current iMac (you know, one of the gumdrop ones), is kind of low and it bugs my shoulders to use it. That floating, adjustable screen would help me considerably. I’ll give my present computer to my old college newspaper at a greatly reduced price, or just sell it on e-bay.

A bike. Nothing too expensive, just your run-of-the-mill Canadian Tire bike, that I can get some exercise on after work (not to go to work -55km is a bit too far!). Next pay cheque (next Thursday).

Also, a new computer chair. There was a nice one at Staples the other day for 130$ - it was REALLY comfy. Next or after-next paycheque too (and once the rent comes out of the account  ).

Basically, I’m a Scrooge, and hate spending money, but these are things that will actually be worthwhile…so I’m trying to convince myself!

Oooh a puppy - I want a puppy too. Please please please.

Well, I’m not really making any money at the moment, but I am trying really hard to save what’s left of my parents’ money after paying tuition – this way it can be used to help pay for my horse habit instead of buying silly things like food and clothes.

Short term:

A trip to NYC

Long term:

Enough funds to get out of Alabama
A Steinway baby grand piano

One of the various 20-gig portable MP3 players on the market, since I’ve recently discovered that I really like listening to my music without having to hunt and swap through my CD collection–but I’d like to be able to do so somewhere other than my computer.

Uh, you couldn’t just put your current monitor on a couple phone books or something? (Sorry, I’m not trying to rain on your parade or anything!)

SNerc probably just wants an excuse to upgrade. That adjustable LCD screen is a lot of fun!

Saving to pay the mortgage off on our new house. Hopefully, within about 5 years that dream will come true! Yay! No monthly home payments!!!

C’mon voguevixen, you know all of us Mac users are all about design and style. The phone books would totally ruin the look I’m going for…

… in my room full of mismatched secondhand furniture.

A Mantis rototiller! ($299.00) I like to garden and I rented one to prepare my soil this year and was so impressed with the job it did and the ease that it accomplished it that I decided that I want one!

Plus ---------- a portable generator. They have a nice one at Lowes Building and supply that can be carried like a briefcase, weighing in at maybe 40 pounds. I want it for house use and on my small boat and camping. It can run fish lights, regular lights, fans and power tools. In a pinch, it can power up household things if the power fails during hurricane season. ($350.00)

Hmm, a Desert Eagle in .50AE and .357 calibers in either brushed chrome or bright nickel finish. I don’t need one and don’t plan to use it for hunting or protection but I just think they’re cool and want one. Why yes, I do have a tiny penis, why do you ask?

A new pool cue from a local cuemaker. I bought one recently for my father and once I got a chance to try it out, I loved it and wished he didn’t so I could have kept it for myself.

Okay, I got the scanner and the fire safe. Still hoarding $ for that main engine seal oil leak repair job, though.
