What are your favorite HAPPY love songs?

Alison Krauss-“Looking in the Eyes of Love”

Blues Traveler-“The Best Part”

Rufus-“Walkin’ In the Sun”

Catie Curtis-“Kiss that Counted”

Cheryl Wheeler-“Gandhi/Buddha”

David Wilcox-“Kindness”

Hothouse Flowers-“Your Love Goes On”

Josh Rouse-“It Looks Like Love”

Kate Wolf-“Give Yourself to Love”

I made a list of all my favorite love songs that didn’t involve breaking up, unrequited love, or loving so much it hurt. It was still pretty long, so I weeded out all the ones with even a modest twinge of longing, as that adds a bit too much poignancy to really be considered a happy love song (even if they weren’t sad either). That left me with just a few:

G. Love & Special Sauce - Baby’s Got Sauce
I’m Just a Lucky So and So (here done by Louis Armstrong & Duke Ellington)
Boyz II Men - I’ll Make Love To You (the ultimate in 90s baby-making music!)

:smack: Forgot me some Van Morrison

Crazy Love

“Walking on Sunshine” - Katrina and the Waves

Talking Heads’ Naive Melody (This Must be the Place)

Absolutely!!

Plus, Lovesong by The Cure

Copied from MetroLyrics.com

And speaking of John Prine… “Unlonely”. (John Prine is not the first person who comes to mind when you think “happy love songs”… but there’s something endearing about this rather grumpy and sardonic guy doing a love song.)

"You Make Me Feel Good"by the Zombies.

“Surprise, Surprise” and “Love To Love You (and Tonight Pigs Will Fly)” by Caravan

“Michelle’s Song” by Elton John

“Emily’s Song” by the Moody Blues. (This one, however, is about a father’s love for his infant daughter.)

I didn’t realize there was a recent song titled “Hallelujah”. So I was wondering why the Ray Charles song didn’t qualify as a happy love song.

Frente doing Open Up Your Heart and Let the Sun Shine In from the Flintstones.

Can’t get sappier than that, but they make it sound really good.

You Without Me by Eddie Tadross

A seriously under-appreciated song and singer. This song just makes me smile no matter what.

This was my first thought too

Others I like include

The Sweetest Thing (I’ve Ever Known) - Juice Newton
You - The Carpenters
Morning Train (Nine To Five) - Sheena Easton

“Close To You” - Carpenters.

“Because” - Dave Clark Five.

“Happy Together” - Turtles.

Any of a dozen early Beatles songs.

Nuts, should have read the other posts first.

Strong second for “My Girl.”

Happy Together! I just love the Turtles, they had a lot of great songs.
This Will Be. An everlasting love, so sweet and optimistic.
At Last by Etta James - maybe not happy, it’s beyond happy into, well, ecstasy.
We’ll Sing In The Sunshine - hey, it’s really happy if you don’t pay close attention to the words!

“Whenever I see your smiling face, I have to smile myself, because I love you.”

Smiling Face, James Taylor.

Matt White Best Days

Do you believe
In love at first sight?
I think you do
We’re lying naked under the covers
Those are the best days of my life

Jack Johnson Better Together

*I believe in memories
They look so, so pretty when I sleep
Hey now, and when I wake up,
You look so pretty sleeping next to me
But there is not enough time,
And there is no, no song I could sing
And there is no, combination of words I could say
But I will still tell you one thing
We’re better together. *

Joshua Radin Lovely Tonight

You are lovely tonight
You, dear, will guide me into the morning light
You are lovely tonight
Lay here beside me - I see the rest of my life with you

Marc Broussard Where You Are
*
Your skin is like the moonlight
Dancing in the midnight
Your touch is sweet as candy
Your kisses they taste so fine, so fine
and I want to love you better
You don’t have to be alone
I want to let you know forever’s waiting right here at home*

She’s Just My Style” by Gary Lewis & the Playboys

Colours” by Donovan

"Reasons for Waiting" by Jethro Tull

“Some Kind of Wonderful” by Grand Funk Railroad

When I hold her in my arms,
You know she sets my soul on fire.
Oooh, when my baby kisses me,
My heart becomes filled with desire.
When she wraps her lovin’ arms around me,
About drives me out of my mind.
Yeah, when my baby kisses me,
Chills run up and down my spine.

“Cinammon Girl” by Neil Young.
