What are your favorite songs that begin with the letter J? See rules in OP [final poll added]

For once, many of my alternate choices were captured by others. Here’s a few more:

J’ai vu le loup - Baltimore Consort
Jam On It - Newcleus
Jane’s Getting Serious - Jon Astley
Java Jive - The Ink Spots
Jerk It Out - Caesars
Jesus To A Child - George Michael
Joy - Apollo 100
Juke-Joint Jezebel - KMFDM
Just Monika, A Doki Doki Literature Club Song - Random Encounters (which is quite obscure unless you’re into songs about video games, but it’s by far one of the best of a very niche genre)

On my list, but not nominated:

Jazz Police - Leonard Cohen
Johnny Dear - Kassi Valazza
Jerusalem - Sinéad O’Connor
Joanne - Michael Nesmith
Judy is a Punk - The Ramones

This won’t help with your current issue, but when this is all done I am going to make a Spotify playlist of every nominated song that I am unfamiliar with.

I estimate that it will contain 700-1,000 songs.

mmm

Surprised given the soft rock bent of this board that Chicago’s Just You 'N Me lagging like it is.

Please post a link when you do…

Very fond of Joanne. And a well-known novelty from that same era: Judy In Disguise (with Glasses) by John Fred and the Playboy Band.

Happy to see @Gyrate mention Java Jive. And while I like the happiness of Joy from Apollo 100 (nominated), the wistful, Bach-based Joy from George Winston is also sweet.

I might have missed a few of the late nominees, but here are some of my leftovers:

Just Like A Pill - P!nk
Jumper - Third Eye Blind
Just Between You And Me - April Wine
Jamie’s Cryin’ - Van Halen
Juke Box Hero - Foreigner

And in the category of Same Name / Different Song:

Jungle Love - Morris Day & The Time
Just the Way You Are - Bruno Mars

I don’t know if they’re anyone’s favorites, but I’d like to have seen

Jeepers Creepers, Where D’You Get Those Peepers - Louis Armstrong (Note 1)
Jobsworth - Jeremy Taylor (Note 2)

j

Note 1 - It appears the title is actually just Jeepers Creepers. How annoying.
Note 2 - I’m suffering from something like the Mandela effect here. I thought it was from the very early sixties, but it turns out to be 1974.

ETA - @Mean_Mr.Mustard, feel free to leave these off your playlist!

Ah ha! I knew there was an ulterior motive!
Actually I have been wondering if any of us are listening to the stuff we don’t recognize. I’ve checked out a couple of things, not many.

More J songs:

Jeans On - David Dundas
Jeep’s Blues - Duke Ellington
Joltin’ Joe DiMaggio - Les Brown and His Orchestra
Jumpin’ at the Woodside - Count Basie and His Orchestra

I’ve listened to some. I haven’t found any hidden gems yet, but I have encountered a few that made me wonder if the nominator was pranking us

mmm

My tastes are usually pretty mainstream, but I’ve picked up a couple artists I’d like to listen to some more thanks to this exercise.

Likewise.

j

Just three left from my list (sadly, I think one is ineligible):
Just Like Me - Paul Revere & The Raiders
Jelly Roll Gumdrop - Zappa
John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt - Any group of scouts at a campout

Quite a few of mine aren’t on Spotify, alas.

Leftovers…

Janie’s Got A Gun - Aerosmith

Jamaica Mistaica - Jimmy Buffett

Jamaica Jerk-Off - Elton John

Yeah, I’ve noted a few in each thread that make me wonder “Is this really one of your favorite songs?, or is it just a song that starts with the right letter?”

I did with Dirty Deeds Done With Sheep, but mainly because I saw its inspiration get nominated first. Didn’t really have any other D cuts that I just had to put in there either.

Because others have posted many of my favorites, I sometimes post ones that aren’t my favorites just to play (maybe they’ll be someone else’s).

Way too late to this thread, but a few songs I really like got totally missed.

Jambi - Tool
Jimmy - Tool
Judith - A Perfect Circle
Join Together - The Who
Jet City Woman - Queensrÿche
