Hey, I never got the hate for that song either. Is it a masterpiece? No! But it’s fairly banal and innocuous and I just don’t see the hate factor.
I feel the same way about “We built This City.”

“Do they know it’s Christmas,” on the other hand, should be banned and all copies destroyed.
And speaking of Christmas, holiday newsletters should be illegal.
How about Greg Lake’s “Father Christmas”? That’s not a Christmas song any more than Extreme’s “More Than Words” is a wedding song.
Women who get involved with abusive men are usually as dysfunctional as he is, if not more so. This DOES NOT mean they deserve it, BTW.
I am not interested in changing any laws but I think abortion should be actively encouraged and offered for free for teenagers. I think abortion is a medical procedure at ANY time and don’t particularly care about saving “unborn babies” more than helping teens achieve goals towards becoming self-supporting adults.
I think community college and vocational training should be paid for through taxes on the highest paid earners.
Divorce is never the child(ren)‘s fault? Not from what I’ve seen. Children can and do cause divorces, and if a child was responsible for the failure of their parents’ marriage, they know it.
Why is flouridation bad policy if you think its not a problem.
So then what would you call an evil action such as murder or rape or theft?
You do realize there is virtually no practical difference between a fetus in the womb at say eight months and a newborn?
I think age of consent should be very low, perhaps down to 14. No exceptions. I’m entirely opposed to Romeo and Juliet laws. I feel they are morally inconsistent. If a minor cannot give consent, then what the hell does the age of the other person have to do with it? Why the fuck should a 16 year old be able to give consent to an 18 year old but not a 20 year old (in states where 18 is the age of consent but has a Romeo and Juliet law)? It’s stupid. If both are minors, prosecute them both for statutory rape. If one is a minor and the other is not, prosecute the adult. This is the main reason I want the consent lowered to a more reasonable age. Kids should be able to be sexually active at around 14 without legal retribution against themselves or their consensual partners. Parents can still discipline them if they disagree with their children’s choices and behaviors.
“Western” women who enjoy equal rights who date Middle Eastern men and move to misogynic Middle Eastern countries where they subsequently are abused and repressed are idiots. I don’t care how handsome, rich, suave, charming, whatever the man is, he’s not worth losing your freedom and identity and potentially your life.
The second part of the statement suggests that he finds it is perfectly valid to use it as an adjective (and possibly as a noun, in the sense of Shakespeare’s “the evil that men do”). Just not as an independent entity.
Hijack: This very much depends I think on age and location. I got permanently sterilized (Essure) when I was 35 and all I got were a few raised eyebrows. The one person who never batted an eye at all was the doctor, which made me super happy. And he was a fertility doctor and it was a fertility clinic! They didn’t even ask me “Are you sure?” The only person who asked me that was my gynecologist, before she recommended me.
I live in upstate NY and I have a lot of confidence so both of these things might have helped me - I had no doubt of what I wanted.
So it is changing. It is getting better.
This is actually not such an unpopular opinion, as far as I can tell. It’s the foundation for CBT.

I believe that class in American is huge, and largely undiscussed. We’ve just started having discussions about “the 1%,” but really there is relevant stuff here about all the little class divisions that make up our society.

I’m not sure that’s an unpopular view, either. Howard Zinn, at the very least, seemed to agree with you.
This is another one, i don’t understand how anyone who supports abortion because it is the womans right to do as she wishes with her body doesn’t support abortion for the whole nine months. It doesn’t matter when life begins, another human being has zero rights to someone elses body and abortion should be legal even if birth is minutes away.
I was reading today on CNN that London is currently facing a crisis from exploding sidewalks. ( I cite the articled entitled “Exploding sidewalks menace London pedestrians”)
My VERY unpopular opinion is that this is merely the coming attraction for a new program on BBC1 this fall, which will be an updated version of “How Not to be Seen”.
I agree, especially if they are intelligent and educated themselves.
Idealism and human will never changed anything on the political or social level. Movements succeed or fail because impersonal historical trends either support or oppose them.
I support abortion, but I don’t support full-term abortion. If the fetus would be viable outside the mother’s body, then it’s too late for an abortion - you don’t have a parasite, you have a guest now. You had your chance for an abortion before then - you need to carry the baby and give it up for adoption now, in my opinion (unless the mother’s health is at risk - that changes things).
Children, including my relatives, are annoying 90% of the time and cute 10%, usually when they’re sleeping.
I think anyone who can’t support there children be it ( 2 or 12 ) . They should be fixed no question. theirs to many lowlifes having kids on our dime.
While I’m pro-life for the whole nine yards (or months rather) I think there are some reasonable other points for determining personhood. While the usual “fetal pain” threshhold is unsatisfactory, a more reasonable one is the start of detectable brain wave activity.
Sorry what?
