Building a pergola in the back yard. Two footings are in and the other two will be poured tomorrow. Ordering lumber soon and will commence construction. Oh, and I don’t really know what I’m doing!
Planning a wedding/transfer to another college out of state.
Should have eloped…
I’m working on my family history.
Trying to get my fucking masters degree.
Trying to terminate a contract with a non-compliant vendor.
At home, I’m still unpacking from my move. And probably will be for the next three years…
Finishing up school. Specifically, building a flash site, which involves me learning flash; illustrating at least 15 story spark cards, six of which are going to go in the student art show; and doing various smaller projects for my independent study.
I’m fixing the toilet in the bath off my office/guest room. No, it shouldn’t be a “big project,” but through laziness and procrastination I’ve made it one. First it was just that I knew I needed to replace the fill valve. Then I was going away to Dragon*Con for a week (this was around Labor Day), so I shut off the water to it so I wouldn’t have to worry about the valve failing while I was gone and flooding.
Then the toilet seat in my powder room downstairs broke, so I scavenged the toilet seat from the office bath to replace it. So now the office bath needs a new fill valve and a new seat.
But the good news is, yesterday I bought both, so now I just have to install them.
I had no idea they were offering those now. Is the Master’s a necessary step, or can one go straight to doctoral work in that field?
Studying to take the Registered Medical Transcriptionist exam.
I start my Master’s program in the fall. Before that, I may buy some land and build a house.
I just don’t have the patience for a rock garden, those things take forever to grow.
Oh hell, that’s a lifetime effort. I’ve been banging my head against the brick walls in my lineage for so long, I’m beginning to enjoy the pain. I swear some of these people were just dropped off by passing aliens, as there is no record of anyone before them.
I’m in Southwest MO–my house is built on a natural 2-acre rock garden. I’ll sell you some good, high-quality starts.
House & garage cleaning, decluttering/organizing, landscaping. All of which are ongoing neverending projects.
• Trying to leave the ranks of the unemloyed
A lot of that requires action that is not action on my part. Therefore in lieu of twiddling my thumbs during the stretches of downtime,
• Family history for me also, but on the software end as well as the data entry end. I have about 8500 individuals I’ve input into my own homegrown FamHx database, and I break up the data entry by stopping to make improvements in the db structure, etc
• Another software project, my own email program. Importing Eudora mailbox data and parsing it, a slow and tedious process, but 85% of the emails are in mailboxes that will never get written to again, so for those at least I only have to do this once.
Work: I’m working in a government department. I have been given the task to improve the way we “communicate”. Yes, that was about the assignment I was given.
Home: Actually, my home is about finished. I bought a few things recently, like a new lamp ans some plants, and then decided things looked better before. As for the garden, this weekend I’m going to plant some seeds and make two planters for the walls and next to the front door with hanging pelargoniums I bought. I love pelargoniums.
Personal: continuing my psychotherapy with Prozac and EMDR. I feel my problems lifting month by month. And I’m going to get a gastric bypass this July, everything is arranged.
I’m doing a policy project on youth violence in Philadelphia. The scale of the project is pretty massive but there are eight of us on the team. We’re working with non-profit organizations and leaders to try to figure out what is going on and how we can fix it.
My part of the project is actually pretty disappointing… I’m supposed to research best practices for creating a panel of experts to make recommendations. Of course there is no literature on this, so my findings are essentially, ‘‘There are no findings.’’ But that’s research I guess.
I’m gearing up to take the GRE. I’m uncertain whether I’m applying to another program at the end of this year or at the end of next, but either way, I’m getting that sucker out of the way ASAP because it’s hanging over my head like the sword of Damocles.
I’m having my bathroom remodeled RIGHT NOW! This is very exciting for me since I’ve been wanting to do it for 8 years and I’ve never in my life done a complete room makeover.
The sounds of hammering from the other room is like music, and the smell of paint is like perfume!
Current Project : This gorgeous coworker. We’ve been circling each other for months now, she feels my heat, like a gazelle being stalked by a lion, and soon, so soon, she will have to will succumb, it’s just a matter of time. She’s powerless before my charms. Of course, there’s about 30 other guys doing the same thing. Got her right where I want her.
Heh Heh…
DOH! :smack:
Well, err, umm, on the other hand, there’s this plastic model in a bottle I’m working on of the USS Constitition, God, the rigging’s a bitch
Writing a book, or five, all about can’t tell you, but you can see the first chapter on my blog, it is johnallen358,blogspot.com
