What Breed Was Tiffany?

Our dog Tiffany had a unique disposition (she’s the white dog on the left: http://www.picturetrail.com/sfx/album/main/1000279/15598310). She was friendly and playful, and a very good watchdog. She was apparently a sheepdog, as she enjoyed “corralling” our cats. She was best friends with our other dog Sandy. But tragically, she died about 10 years ago, living to a fairly ripe old age.

The only thing that I have wondered for some time now is exactly what breed was she? My grandfather thought she was a purebred Briard. I have seen pictures of Briards and they only resemble Tiffany to a passing degree. Another interesting thing about Tiffany (not evident in the picture I gave because her eyes are covered with hair) is she literally looked like a teddy bear with two black eyes and a button nose. Now to further confuse me, the Humane Society recently sent us a calendar with a dog that has these exact same features. No further information, though, is given with it.

It is important to know what breed Tiffany was esp. now because our present dog, Joy, is getting very elderly. And if she dies, we will have to replace her with a good watchdog. And we might be interested in getting one like Tiffany again.

(BTW, if you think Tiffany was a mut, at least tell me what breed she most resembles. We found Tifffany running in a field near our house, so we have no idea who her parents were.)

Thank you in advance to all who reply:)

Looks a lot like a bichon frise. One that hasn’t been groomed into a puffball:

Mrs Labtrash says an Old English Sheepdog mix - too big for a Bichon.

How big was she?

Looks most like an Old English Sheepdog mix to me, but she could have Briard, Puli, Bearded Collie, Komondor, or even Polish Lowland Sheepdog.

Edit: Another pic from a similar angel as the OP

My mother always said she was a big dog. I always thought she was medium-sized or big. That’s an interesting picture. The coincidental resemblance is amazing. What breed is the white dog in the picture?

You of course don’t have to answer my question if you don’t know. “Old English Sheepdog mix” is probably accurate enough:).

I found both those pictures searching Google images for “old english sheepdog mix.” According to the tag, the solo picture is not a mix, only not groomed. I believe the picture with the other dog is a mix.

Based on the size approximation and the white, furry coat, I’m sticking with “OESM.”

Well it *may *be an old english sheep dog, but it looks like a sub species of the north-American Muppet to me.
