I guess at this point, we’d have to start rounding people up and having them compare the average hotness of a random sampling of Asian and non-Asian women. People who consistently found a standard Asian woman more attractive than a comparable white (or whatever) woman might be said to legitimately have a fetish or preference in that case. 2. I think that I like asian women because I grew up around them. I live in California, and while growing up asians were the majority. If there was a class of ten kids two would be white, three hispanic, and five asian. It is just what I am used to.

The exotic nature stems from centuries of colonization of Asian countries and the fact that all that was being told to the rest of America (as the colonization was taking place) was how mysterious, sensual and obedient Asian women were. So Asian women were seen as a hot commodity for the conquerors/Americans who ‘won their freedom’.

In extreme cases, there are a few guys out there who still think of women, especially Asian women as those portrayed on Full Metal Jacket. It’s sad, really. Although it isn’t nearly as bad as that now, those notions about Asian women are still being ingrained into our youth by the media and the overall culture we live in now. Afterall, it was only 10-20 years ago that war movies depicted muscular, white men saving the beautiful Asian prize from the hands of her evil captors. So from these images we saw that Asian women were thin, long-haired and exotic in a way that no other ethnicities were at the time.

Then again, feel free to disagree. This is just what I’ve observed while growing up in the U.S. and watching tv/war movies with my dad and brother and things I’ve talked about in my Asian American Studies classes.

I don’t care if the girl is a fourth-generation Asian American or if she’s fresh off the damn boat. It’s not a cultural thing. It’s about the LOOK of the Asian woman’s face, for me, anyway. Others may like them for different reasons.
