What CD is in your home or car stereo right now?

What CD is in your home or car stereo right now?
Or what is the last CD you remember being in your home or car stereo?

I have a CD in my car called the “Antidotes of Hip Hop” that my friend made and here at the house I have a greatest hits CD of Stevie Wonder.

El Oso by Soul Coughing. I’ve been listening to the song “Rolling” obsessively on the way to work – listen, repeat, listen, repeat. I really wish they’d made more albums.

In my car’s 6-CD changer:

It’s an all-Bob Marley-all-the-time festival!

Burnin’
Catch a Fire
Natty Dread
Rastaman Vibration
Exodus
Kaya

Irie ites, mon!

Car stereo: Far From the Maddening Crowds by Chicane
Home stereo: Nyana disc 1 by Tiësto

Morning Orbit by David Usher.

The Soul Sessions by Joss Stone.

Go. Buy it now.

This is a teenaged, skinny English girl singing the blues- and belting it out like she’s got years of pain and an extra hundred pounds. It’s beautiful.

And the cover of the White Stripes song is far from the best on the album.

Did I mention you should go and buy it now?

Remembering Patsy Cline

Beethoven’s Greatest Hits, Volume 1

Hot Fuss The Killers

Be there for the arrival of this great band. That way you can say, “I was into them before everyone else was.”

Last CD I listen to was Fragments of Unbecoming’s Skywards: A Sylphe’s Ascension. If you’re really into melodic death metal–like, really into it–it might be worth picking up. Me, I wasn’t so impressed.

Right now the cd on in the house is 23rd St. Lullaby by Patti Scialfa. Quite nice. My favorite cuts are State of Grace andStumbling Towards Bethlehem.

Gladys Knight + The Pips: The Ultimate Collection.
I’m nursing a raging crush (as always) and “If I Were Your Woman” really helps me with that.

In my car CD player right now is a CD of Disney sing-a-long songs.

Did I mention that I have a 5-year old?

I have disc 2 in the home stereo. Car: Armin van Buuren’s A State of Trance 2004, Polyphonic Spree and a disc of my favorite Air songs.

There are two discs in our home player, both the Pogues: If I Should Fall From Grace With God and Rum, Sodomy, and the Lash. The latter was the last one in the car CD player yesterday, but my daughter pulled it out so she could finish listening to it today.

There’s nothing quite like hearing your eleven-year-old singing along to the Pogues - and reading the lyrics at the same time.

Summer Teeth, by Wilco. Can’t wait to get their new album today!

I’ve got a 5 CD changer, with only three discs in it at the moment:

The Beatles: Complete BBC Sessions (2004 Upgrade, Remastered Edition) Disc 5

Robert Plant: Austin City Limits

and a CD with the latest edit of the multitrack demo of the song I wrote and recorded last week, so I can get really familiar with how I want it to go when I re-record it next week.

The last CD that was in my stereo was The Messiah by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Chorus.

But what’s playing now is an old cassette tape of Michael Jackson’s Thriller, as my teen has been browsing through Mom and Dad’s old tapes and albums.

Grand Piano Canyon by Bob James

The Ragpicker’s Dream by Mark Knopfler in the car

Picture of Nectar by Phish in the studio system

Eat A Peach by the Allman Brothers in my stereo

and

August and Everything After by Counting Crows on the computer as I type this.

Incredible albums all.
