Total War Warhammer is probably one of the best, if not the best, Total War game. But I got pretty bored of it pretty quickly. Not because it isn’t good, it is great, but I think I’ve just played so many Total War games that I couldn’t get into it.
Although I just looked and I do have 69 hours played on it so that’s not so bad I guess.
Thinking of getting the Borderlands 2 GOTY bundle, only $8.80. If I get that will I wish I’d played Borderlands 1? Or should I skip 1? It’s on sale as well for $4.99.
You can skip BL1. BL2 is superior in pretty much every way (game mechanics, plot, jokes) and the only thing you miss from BL1 is being able to say “heh” when the BL1 characters make NPC cameos in BL2. I mean, you’ll understand the story just fine – you just won’t say “Yeah, that sniper guy with the bird sure was in the last game…”
There are a (very) few in-jokes, and a couple of places will have more emotional heft if you played through the first. But Tiny Tina, who isn’t in the first, makes up for everything. Other than that, Jophiel is right; there were a few rare gameplay elements from BL1 that I preferred, but overall BL2 was much better.
The things about Borderlands 1, is the the story made absolutely no sense. It was a set of arbitrary events that pushed the plot to new areas, and introduced new features.
In Borderlands 2 they retrofitted exposition around the plot of BL1 to have a coherent, but still clunky, motivation, and fit in with the actual plot of BL2.
Shadow of Mordor is great, just bear in mind that it’s relatively short, and that its world consists of two not-very-large maps. It could be a be a bit disappointed for gamers used to today’s huge worlds.
Oh, and if you’re a Tolkien purist, it will probably give you an aneurysm.
I’ve had “The Witness” on my wish list ever since I read a thread on it last year. I saw that it was half price so I went ahead and sprung for it this weekend.
Go in as unspoiled as possible and look nothing up. It’s a great game. My wife and I solved nearly all the of the puzzles in it on our own. I do think we ended up getting a nudge twice out of 175+ puzzles we solved, but it might have been only once.
A two-player(also offers single and four-player) puzzle game. I’ve seen it there for awhile and it got a 40% sale, making it $11.99.
I know it will be $6.99 or something by Christmas or Easter 2018, but its a small game from a small group and I don’t mind them having the money. Besides, I really wanted it.
If either of you play it, I would love to read your thoughts while you play if you wanted to start a thread about it. I’d avoid old threads, as we discussed our own experiences and solutions, etc.
It’s probably in my top 10 of all time, especially the first time through. You can never go back to the first play-through. It’s just…hiding so much you can never unrealize.
The Steam Link is pointless for me, as we literally never use the TV in our house (It even has some stuff stacked up in front of it.) But the controller does look interesting, especially at the price offered.
I mean, I’m the guy who would sometimes use a controller instead of a mouse just for everyday computer stuff. This looks neat. I just wonder if I can justify it when I play so few games nowadays.
The Steam Controller totally fucking rocks. Sometimes it takes a bit to configure it for a game, but the feel of it and the response time are fantastic. I haven’t used my Logitech F710 since I got my SC.
ETA: I was surprised by how many buttons there are and how easy to reach they all are.
I kind of like the 360 controller better, just because of the twin sticks. I seem to have picked up a lot of dual stick shooters on Steam, so that works a lot better. Not that the Steam controller sucks or anything, it works pretty well especially if you can get a deal on it.
