What did you dream about last night?

My dreams can get pretty surreal and fantastical, but last night’s was just amusing. I was a lawyer in court, defending Snagglepuss against charges of vandalism (he apparently wrote something in graffiti somewhere). The judge was a real harsh Judge Judy type women who for some reason really wanted Snagglepuss behind bars. In the end, though, I gave an impassioned defense, won over the hardass judge, and exonerated him.

Last night I dreamed that me and some friends were playing a game that was a cross between Monopoly and Jenga. Here’s how the game worked:

You’ve got a tower of Jenga blocks, but each block is labelled with a Monopoly property (with all the stats: cost, rent, etc). When you pull out a block, you can buy the property if no one owns it. If someone does own it, you have to pay rent to the owner. If you buy it, you find the property card and keep that, but put the block on top the of tower just like in regular Jenga. The blocks were only labeled on one side, so when you put a block on top, you had to make sure to have the label face down so you can’t see it, so it’s harder to avoid properties owned by someone else. Part of the strategy is trying to remember which blocks have been bought and which haven’t, which is hard when the blocks keep getting moved around. There are rent bonuses for owning monopolies, just like in regular Monopoly, but no houses or hotels. The game is over when someone topples the tower. Whoever toppled it is disqualified. Whoever has the most money (out of the players who weren’t disqualified) wins.

I don’t remember the full dream, but part of it was opening the blinds on our front window and finding a huge rabbit in the garden. It was big enough to make eye-level eye contact with me. I calmly called the cats over to check out the bunny and went about my business.

In fact, now that I think about it, I didn’t even realize it was a dream until I’d been up for a while. I had to think about how unusual a rabbit that big would be before I went, “oh, yeah…” That’s actually not uncommon for me.
