That kind of limits me then.
If I’m drunk and alone, it usually means I have just come from drinking and it’s probably around 2 am - 5 am.
So basically, I am going to watch TV and go to bed.
With all the voices in my head, I’m never drunk alone…
Okay, seriously, I usually put on some music, start thinking about my life (no matter how hard I try not to), and wind up getting really thoughtful and depressed.
So, naturally, I email or IM my friends. They just love these messages, and I often get entire IM conversations emailed back to me so I can enjoy the sheer stupidity of my drunken ramblings in the (oh so brutal) light of sobriety.
Yes, e-mail, definitely. My college buddies and I put together a big e-mail group dedicated to the almighty drunk e-mail. I have them saved, and it’s amazing the little nuggets of wisdom that can come through. Plus it makes for some good reference material whenever somebody gives you a hard time about drinking. IM is good too, but it doesn’t lend itself as easily to saving for future viewing.
Is getting drunk alone a bad thing or something? I do it all the time. I usually play computer games when drunk alone.
It can be a symptom of alcoholism so yeah, some people are wary of it.
Well, speaking as a practicing alcoholic, it can be seen as a bad thing. It can indicate that you are so withdrawn that you would rather be alone with your best friend Jack than to be out having a real life with real people. Or it can indicate that you have sunk so far into the depths that you no longer have any friends except Jack, and so, there you sit ALONE drinking, being a pitiful old sot who has no life. Lots of Germans I know refuse to drink alone on principal, being that indulging has its place and time and that is only with friends and/or family. I don’t see any of the above. I like my beer. That’s it. If you drink as much as me, you hear all of the above. But mostly you hear drinking alone = big problem from Americans. In other cultures (IMHE) it’s seen as you just relaxing at home. BTW, I love playing computer games while having some nice ale, but it’s still more fun when there are people around to share it with. YMMV.
As for the sobering reality of IM while loaded, (IMUI is the joke with my brew club buddies, like DUI), yep, it can be really embarrassing when it’s posted to a bulletin board. I have logged every chat I have ever had and I can see myself really being BIZARRE, but the next day I consider the source, some of the stuff is pretty funny. Its still part of my personality, and that’s the way its going to be. Also I’m not the only one, so I don’t wig out too much about it.
So to close ** Wesley Clark ** if you want to sit home and hoist a few, that’s OK as far as I am concerned, It just means that your having a good time. Go ahead and IM me, it should be a blast!

Phfffft! By the time I get home, I’m sick of dealing with people all day. I’d rather drink alone, thank you very much. And when doing so, I re-watch favorite movies like Dumb & Dumber and Kingpin or play video games. I also do the dishes since I’m making frequent trips to the kitchen.
I’ve ended up drunk alone twice in the past week. For me, “drunk” is 2 drinks or more, and I’m sure I average less than one drink a week. I’ve been very stressed of late and drinking more as a deliberate attempt to chill out. But enough about my issues, let’s talk about my drunken behavior.
Mostly I sit partially but not fully reclined, and either close my eyes and free associate in silence, or do the same thing with some music playing in the background.
I spend a fair amount of time doing exactly the same thing when NOT drunk.
Chores, websurf, bed.
I used to wrestle with the dog, but this dog doesn’t get the concept.
I used to do interior house painting, but that is just not good.

Oh. I’m a good one for playing computer games and having a few beers. I’d rather have a few beers at home alone than go out, have a few beers with friends and contemplate driving home/cabbing it.
I also like cooking and playing some loud music at the same time. Which my wife does not always appreciate at 10 PM.
Drunk alone? Not unusual. Boyfriend works a lot. No problem!
When drunk alone, I do lots and lots of online shopping.
(May I also add that I’m not a practicing alcoholic; I got it down pat by now.

If you drink often and/or too much, you might be a drunk, but I don’t know where this never drink alone or you’re a drunk thing got started.
So on to the OP. Video games. Video games rock with alcohol. They also rock without alcohol, but you know, if you’re gonna sit home & drink…
Reruns of Star Trek: TOS is good too. Alcohol in general helps with the suspension of disbelief. Kirk & Spock were such hotties, and that green chick is so cool. I mean, she could totally have chloroplasts in her skin or something.

Heh. I’m a whole lot thirstier now than I was when I wrote that. I wonder why? 
So far I’ve had two cans of soda and a large glass of apple juice, and I’ve only been up for 45 minutes.
Oh, and I ate more Doritos and Salsa con Queso (not Questo, as I posted in my drunkenness) for breakfast.
So, if I do the same things while I’m sober that I do when I’m drunk, what’s the point of being sober? I’ll contemplate that over a beer later today.
Add Marlboros and some sort of children’s program on the tube and you have a well rounded evening…
