What do you do with J&B?

If I told you just how much whisk(e)y I’ve drank in my life, you’d be surprised I’m asking.

But, I always either drink single malt Scotch, neat. Or, I drink bourbon, neat, rock, or mixed with soda or in Manhattans.

So, anyway, bro-in-law gave me a big bottle of J&B this weekend. What do you do with it? Rocks, neat, a mixer? Is it good in a Manhattan? Is there another mixed drink that is good with J&B?

Thanks.

If someone gave me a bottle of J&B, I’d wonder what I did to make him hate me so much!

IMO, the stuff is drain cleaner. If you are a fan of single-malts, you probably aren’t going to like it. Keep it around for people who drink blended scotch.

Yeah, that’s kind of what I was thinking. I’ll probably try to make a Manhattan with it. If you add enough sweet stuff to dry cleaner, it can still end up tasting all right.

A manhattan with Scotch is called a “Rob Roy.” Or put some Drambuie in it, for something called a “Rusty Nail.”

Of course, I drink J&B and Dewar’s, so what the hell do I know.

I enjoy it with a little water and a twist of lemon. It has a slightly sweet taste that lets it work fine with mixers, but it can’t compare to single malts. I’d also second the “Rusty Nail” idea.

Or, it looks like I can substitute some lime syrup for the cherry and make something called the Kiltlifter.

You can click on “rob boy” on the right there and find variations.

Thanks. I’ll probably try a rob roy tonight if I’m having a drink.

You can drink it on the rocks, or you can make a scotch and soda.

If I could get J&B I’d drink it straight. I love J&B. There’s nothing better for drinking straight out of the bottle…stupid Ohio…stupid import laws…#@$@#

Fortunately, I’ll be going back to TX in a couple of weeks and I can get some there.

Well, it’s good for snake bites. If it looks like a snake is going to bite you, whack it with the bottle.
