The 3 things I hate to do most around the house are:
Make lunches
Fold laundry (I don’t mind doing the laundry; I just hate folding it.
Hi Opal!
Shave
I don’t mind cleaning, or feeding the animals, or helping with homework, or moving furniture. I love cutting the lawn and doing yard work. I shovel snow.
So, what is it that you like doing least around the house?
Yardwork. I would rather have a root canal done rectally than do yardwork. No matter how good a job you do, you STILL have to do the same *@*@ stuff a week later.
Having a dishwasher doesn’t necessarily mean your dishes will get washed! SOmeone still has to load and unload it! <lol> My kids fight over this chore all the time.
I’m the same way! I hate putting anything away – laundry, clean dishes, groceries, books to be shelved, etc. I think it’s the back-and-forth of it all – when you clean your floor, once you’re done with a section, you’re done…but when you’re putting dishes away, you keep having to return to the dishwasher time and again. I think this short-circuits some inbred demand for efficiency or something. I also can’t stand making two trips to the car to unload groceries…I’ll nearly collapse under the weight of all the bags and drag half of them to the kitchen rather than take two trips for a more manageable load.
I hate “tidying”–as in putting stuff away. I think it’s because we really don’t have enough storage space. I have to laugh when I see ads from those companies that are supposed come and redo your closet into a miracle of organization. Sure, I’ll call you as soon as I get a closet roughly the size of my whole bedroom, like the one you show in your ad.
The main problem right now is that every toy we buy seems to have about 100 individual pieces.
I’d much rather clean stuff.
Off to read the IKEA catalog under the blankets with a flashlight. Oooh those firm bookshelves. Those big, sleek storage units.
Basically, my kids are in charge of tidying the basement. Usually, I get all 3 of them down there, close the door, and tell them ther’re not allowed up until the basement is spotless. I hear them argue a lot, but it does get done . . . eventually.
I’d rather do anything than scrub the shower. Ours is large (over 4’ X 5’) and tiled. I used a shower spray, but it stillneeds to be scoured once in a while. It’s been quite a while because I hate that chore so much!!
I refuse to empty the cat box - the damn thing shouldn’t be in the house to begin with. As soon as the new house is completed the dogs get the old heave-ho as well. No more hair everywhere, no more cat box odor, no more food and water bowls in the kitchen floor.
Putting away the clean dishes from the dishwasher - glasses and plates aren’t so bad, but hunting down the odd slots, nooks and crannies and even remote locations such as the front hall closet where the stockpots live drives me up the wall.
I would gladly wash, fold, and put away laundry, load and unload the dishwasher, put away groceries, take out the trash and recycling, and vacuum – tasks I kind of enjoy – if only someone else would scrub the damn floors.
I’d even be willing to do really nauseating tasks like cleaning the toilet, cleaning up great gouts of cat vomit, or scrubbing out the garbage can after the neighbor has rudely dumped full ashtrays and half-full cups of Coke loose into it, in exchange for floor scrubbing.
