What do you love that everyone else refuses to eat?

That would, of course, be ca**n[/]talope. <sigh>

Once more:

cantalope

No one mentioned guacamole? I could live on well made guac, and thankfully, in my house, I’m the only one who likes it.

Matt, I’ll save you all of my black jelly bellies. Yuck

lima beans
okra
raw cookie dough
grits
spam] (not often, because my cholesterol is too high)

Orcachow – we should get together some time. My favorite meal of all is liver and lima beans. You’re the second person I’ve heard of that actually likes both (Jane Yolen was the first).

Beef liver, properly cooked (breaded and lightly sauted so it is still moist in the middle), is heaven. And chopped chicken livers . . . mmmmm.

I’ve also discovered that, in my old age, I’ve developed a taste for bait: sashimi and calamari. Also raw clams, but I’ve liked them since I was a kid.

Democritus, I’m quite fond of chorizo, and I didn’t need to know that!
What I really really like is pie crusts made with lard. You don’t know what good pastry is until it’s be made with lard. I don’t feed it to my veggie friends, of course, but it’s flaky heaven. Mmmmmmm. Roasted garlic is another favorite, just slice off the top, place in a pan, pour a little olive oil over it and roast. Wonderful.

That would be mesost. You can read about it here. I don’t care for it much, but there is a spread equivalent which I really enjoy, especially on toast.

I love guacamole too. The secret ingredient in my recipe is cilantro. Yummy! Speaking of apples and salt, has anyone tried apples and peanutbutter? That is good stuff.

Really? We’re the only two people who actually eat. She uses brown sugar, and it kind of tastes like popcorn with a milkshake chaser.

Yes!!! So strong it makes your eyes water!

And for a personal invention: peanut butter on hotdogs. And the sweetened commercial kind, not ‘pure’ organic peanuts-only types.

Let’s see;

  • fresh, raw tomatoes with sugar (they are a fruit, you know)
  • french toast with ketchup (I make it with salt & pepper, soya sauce, etc.)
  • french fries with chocolate ice cream
  • barbequed pork fat (also in the category of "I know I shouldn’t but it’s so yummy…)

Mmmmmmm…Onions. Raw. Cooked. Either way. Especially when fried with garlic.
Cottage Cheese by itself.
Raw Jalepeno Peppers
Yougart of any kind grosses out my fiancee. More for me!
Avocados and guacamole any time, anywhere.

There aren’t too many foods that I won’t eat…I’ll have to disagree with some of you on the liver though. I like the flavor, but there’s just something about the texture that gives me the shivers.

Amen, amen, amen! Yummapalooza!

The women in my family will eat peanut butter with damn near anything. I kid you not. Carrots, pickles, onions, marshmallow fluff, and the list goes on. The only one that I just can’t do is my late grandmother’s personal favorite, peanut butter and horseradish. That was just a little too over the top for me.

Sushi, all types I know of (salmon roe w/raw quail egg!!!).
Anchovies, on pizza or in a salad - just give me a salt-lick :stuck_out_tongue:
Beets.
Blue cheese, many other potent cheeses.
Snails (for the garlic butter…)
Guacamole, anything with avacados:cool: .
Spicy Thai food, powerful curry.
Duck.

Several people have mentioned sushi, but added that it has to be fresh. I’ll eat it even if it’s not fresh. I worked my way through college as a sushi chef, and at the end of the night (usually between midnight and 2AM) I’d make dinner for the rest of the staff while they went about cleaning up and closing the restaurant. Whatever sushi fixings were leftat closing time usually went into the staff meal.

Whoohoo! glad to meet someone else who does!
I grew up in South Africa and picked it up there, only heard of other South Africans liking it. The British just go blehh! mmmm grapefruit, havent tried that, there’s one for the future

Peanut Punch. (Milk + Sugar + Peanut Butter blended)

Tastes good but my more health concious friends think I am trying to kill them.

Ovaltine. Raw.

Lima beans and mushrooms. In fact, there aren’t many vegetables I won’t eat; the only one that comes to mind is okra. And my preference in sandwich spreads is Miracle Whip.

Robin

I like peanut butter, jalapenos, and this weird hot sauce on cheesy rice cakes.
I’m having a heart attack before I’m 20.

Linguine with olive oil, garlic & anchovy.
Yum! When I make that I’m sure to be sitting at the table alone.

Sliced tomato with sugar

Milk with ice cubes

Anything with vinegar

My grandfather, father and brothers all enjoy a good mustard sandwich (mustard and bread). Must be a male, genetic thing. I have cousins that used to eat peanut butter, M&M’s and sugar sandwiches when they were younger. I wonder if they still do…
