Salmon cream cheese spread.

A bagel is clearly a bread product. So I can’t explain why the idea of putting jelly on a bagel seems wrong. But it somehow does.
Depends on my mood. I don’t really like lox, but I will put cream cheese on it, and yes, butter and jelly sometimes. Of course in my rural area we don’t get the bagels I remember from Chicago. They are more like white bread doughnuts labeled bagels.
Toasted bagel with nothing on it.
Cream cheese and bacon, and that’s the best set of poll answers I think I’ve ever seen.
I occasionally put Jelly & cream cheese on a bagel together. I also enjoy lox, onions, and capers on bagels; however, I’ve never had jelly and lox on the same bagel. I do enjoy jalapeño cream cheese on cinnamon raisin bagels. I also like bacon, egg & cheese sandwiches on bagels. I’ve had a bagel reuben and a bagel tuna melt. I’ve used bagels as the base of eggs benedict. I’ve made peanut butter & jelly sandwiches on bagels. I’ve diced bagels and used them in panzanella. I’ve put stale bagels in a food processor and used them for bread crumbs. I have to keep bagels away from my cats because they lick all the poppy seeds, garlic, and onions off them. They don’t touch the sesame seed bagels.
There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio,

Cream cheese, either regular or honey walnut. If there is no cream cheese available, I will eat it plain. I’ve never seen anyone put jelly on a bagel. I don’t like the stuff, so I wouldn’t use it anyway.
I think you should dump him for this heresy.
Ham, papperjack cheese, and dijon mustard
Actually, that sounds pretty good.
(The salsa, not the jelly, you philistines.)
And seeing as most of the bagels I get are savory (like sundried tomato or asiago parmesan), jelly would be…problematic. My toppings of choice are either onion and chive cream cheese, or tuna salad and cheddar.
Also, your boyfriend is wack.
I rarely eat them. They’re bad for you, but they often make the table of some Jewish affair. My son likes them for lunch sometimes.
The correct answer: melted peanut butter.
I sometimes put jelly & cream cheese or butter but generally just butter.
In the age of chocolate donut with bacon why not try every combo?
I occasionally put cream cheese and jelly on my bagels.
I read the title as “What do you put on your haggis?” (tired, iPhone). That makes me pretty stupid- can I be your next boyfriend?
I’ve put jelly on a bagel a couple of times. It’s OK, but putting cream cheese on the bagel, without the jelly, is SO much better. What’s really good is cream cheese and ham on a bagel. I’ve had lox a couple of times, and really, I’d rather just have bagel with cream cheese. I’m not that fond of fish, even lox.
I’m sure he’s a sweet guy but jelly on a bagel makes no sense to me. I put butter and honey on garlic, onion or everything bagels and egg, sausage (pork roll if you’re in a respectable establishment) and cheese on any bagel variety. I’ll use cream cheese, if I have to, on plain or sweetened varieties.
Diosa, Are there a lot of good bagels in SoCal? I’ve mostly had mediocre bagels since I left NJ so I am curious.
Cream cheese and bacon…yum!!
Your boyfriend is clearly not stupid - he had enough sense to snap you up, after all. But he is badly misguided on this issue. Bagels should go naked before they get jellied.
