What do you smoke, Dopers?

I started out smoking Camel filters, but now that I buy cartons to save money I’ll buy lights if they’re cheaper.

Am I the only one with like, no brand loyalty? I smoke whatever’s regular, menthol, and cheapest. There are only two brands that I avoid buying because they are really terrible. But otherwise, I look for sales and try to mix it up. Right now I have the remainder of a pack of Salems, before that I was smoking American Spirits, and before that this brand in a soft pack called “The Brave.” But then again, I smoke about five cigarettes a day and quit for long stretches of time (sometimes years!) so I am not a typical smoker at all.

As for the other stuff, nah, no way. I’m paranoid enough as it is.

I smoke Medallions; lighter than the Player’s I used to smoke -anywhere between $7.95 and $8.50 per package, by the way!!! All cigarettes are approximately the same price here! How 'bout yours?

Yup. Macanudo, Churchill size for me too. I also smoke Partagas, but that’s only because I won several free boxes in a poker tournament. I prefer the mild ‘breakfast’ style of Macanudo over a stronger smoke. They had a golden leaf version available a couple years ago that was wonderful.

I smoked Cowboy Killers™ (the soft pack since you got just a little bit more cigarette than you did with a box) 2+ packs a day for almost 20 years. Down to the filter. I quit smoking cigarettes New Year’s Day 1999 (one of my New Year’s resolutions that I’ve managed to keep, not like the 20 pounds I have to keep losing every year).

Chicken. I like those applewood chips, mmm…

oh, you mean…

Well… when I was a teenager I smoked DuMaurier for several years, until I got caught by my parents and was given an ultimatem. Then I quit cold turkey. (mmm. Turkey.) It was rough going, but I was a tough kid. Nobody wanted to be near me for a while, I was beyond irritable. I still get cravings for them today, and it’s been about 10 or 11 years. Sometimes someone will walk by smelling like smoke and my knees get kind of weak and I wish I had just one.

You can pry my Nat Sherman Classic Mints out of my cold dead hands. MMmm… additive free, and minty, too.

Plus, I do a few flavored shishas in the hookah, and a pipe with different Nat Sherman tobaccos occasionally.

Damn, I need to quit.

No dope. Not for about 6 years.

Normally, I smoke Merit UL 100s. But thems gets expensive, so I’m trying some off brands from internet sources. I recently discovered Kentucky’s Best, pretty good for $15/carton.

I’m trying to imagine how regular cigarettes can differ in taste, since they aren’t eaten. But I’ve never smoked. Is there really a difference?

Marlboro Box, Red.

And it appears that I may be quitting soon - I promised my son that I would try to quit when I turned forty. He’s marking the days off on the calendar now, the little brat.

Smoked American Spirit Mediums when I started at age 21.
(One of top 5 stupidest things I ever did.)
Then quit about 3 years ago when they got expensive and super hard to find. So now I smoke Winston ULs.

Haven’t you ever been more or less repulsed by walking thru a smoker’s fug, guizot? Some stink more than others, and since we’re inhaling thru our mouths, this translates to taste. The taste difference between similar styles is probably not as great as the strength differences. Lights and ultra-lights have less nicotine and the variation is huge, hand a regular smoker an ultra and they damn near turn themselves inside out trying to suck half the cigarette down in one pull, hand them a full-strength one and they’ll cough, choke and sputter like it’s the first time they’ve ever inhaled. (Yes, I’m generalizing, you get the idea.)
Newports, 100s in a box please.

Not much of a smoker anymore, but I do like a cigar once in awhile. Of those I smoke maybe five a year.

On the other hand, on those occasions when I’m around cigarette smokers, I’m apt to accept when they eventually offer me a cigarette. These occasions are very infrequent, once a year if that. I don’t know many smokers.

I do not smoke unless someone sets me on fire.

I just quit smoking Marlboro Lights again. I was up to about 1 1/2 packs a day this summer, then about half pack a day at the end. I can quit cold turkey without any problem, and I never have much in the way of cravings. But whenever I hang out with smokers (most of my friends and coworkers) I just feel so left out it doesn’t take long for me to start bumming one here and there, and then degenerating into actually buying them again.

I wish I wanted to quit. But I don’t. I smoke Virginia Slims Luxury Light 120’s. I smoke less than a third of a pack a day unless I’m drinking alcohol, in which case the count goes way up.

I wish I wanted to quit. But I’m honest enough with myself to know that I enjoy it and I’m not ready to give it up yet. In addition to the fact that I already have enough of a battle with my weight.

I smoke Marlboro UltraLights (1 pack per day) because it only gives you the ultra-light version of terminal cancer and heart disease which is more manageable. Monday is my most recent quit day. I used to smoke two packs a day, but that was more than a decade ago when they were a lot cheaper and I was a lot more stressed.

My mother has smoked Pall Malls (originally unfiltered but now filtered) since 1951. She has been hospitalized several times (though thankfully not recently) for pneumonia, emphysema and other respiratory problems, but there is of course absolutely no connection and anybody who sees one is just believing a bunch of politically correct hype. (Seeing her light up on the way out of the hospital from two collapsed lungs gave me the inspiration to quit for 3 years, but I stupidly thought I could handle “just one”.)

She suffers from the bad example of her father, who smoked roll your owns and unfiltered camels for 60 years (and drank and ate red meat everyday) and never seemed to suffer any consequences from it. Great genes if you can get 'em, but most of us can’t. (I’m 38 and I’ve smoked off and on since I was 21 and I’m already feeling it.)

As my grandfather was dying, I watched him roll the edge of the sheet and raise it to his lips.

I smoke Winston lights, box. Average, a 1/2 pack a day.

I have been thinking about quitting, but I just quit smoking in my house and when I bought my new car, I decided not to smoke in it. So it cuts down on how much I smoke.
I am not ready to give it up yet.
On and off again smoker since 16 ( I am now 29)

Usually whatever’s on sale since I’m broke a lot of the time, but if I have a choice and the cash, Marlboro 27’s or vanilla Djarum cloves.

The green stuff only gets smoked on special occasions nowadays. :stuck_out_tongue:
