What do you think is under-rated?

Mail delivery: Put something in a small box next to your door, and for what is a pretty tiny fee, someone brings it thousands of miles and puts it into a box next to the home of someone you want to receive it. UNDER-RATED!

Radio: Still free.

The “remote control” for cable, t.v., etc.

American cars.

Starship Troopers.

Technically, radio’s not free. Advertisers pay for time slots, then mark up their products or services accordingly to cover the costs of advertising.

I mean, one likes to believe in the freedom of music. But glittering prizes and endless compromises shatters the illusion of integrity. Yeah.

Garbage collection.

For a small fee, someone comes to my house and picks up my smelly, toxic waste and puts it somewhere out of place where it does no harm.

The idea where I would go with my waste otherwise…

Indoor plumbing.

Netflix. Somedays I want to just shout from the roof tops how much I love it!

Pie. You can put freaking anything in a pie. Meat, Fruit, Eggs, Vegetables. As a newly pregnant woman I cant get enough of pie these days. Last night we had Steak n Guinness pie for dinner, and Cheesecake (which i consider pie) for dessert. PIE!!!

Electricity. 90% of your daily activities are affected by it greatly.

The love and care I give to my family.

Smartphones. I can contact anyone I want on the planet anytime. I can look up any fact I want anytime, instantly. It will give me turn-by-turn directions from Hoboken to Hong Kong, within the precision of mere feet. It translates other languages. Doesn’t anyone else think this is simply astounding?

I do. I was saying something just like that last night. It’s also the best quality camera I own (takes video too). I can browse the internet. I can read the New York Times. (also makes a pretty good alarm clock)

Fire

Hot freaking water. I turn a tap and in less than a minute I could scald myself if I wanted to! I’d really miss it if I were somewhere without it, I tell you what!

Everything is either under-rated or over-rated.

Considering the hundreds of job interviews I’ve been on where the interviewer say how impressed they are with me and the fact that I can’t get a job a Taco Bell (yes, I applied, interviewed and didn’t get it), I would say I am vastly under-rated

The post office. People bitch and moan every time the price of postage goes up, but can you find another way to get a piece of paper from New York to California in a few days for less then 44¢? And they’ll even send it all the way back if the address is wrong.

Intellectualism - not only is it under-rated to be bright and thoughtful, it’s often out right derided.

Oh, and ditto the USPS.

DVRs. I don’t care how highly you think of them, you don’t think of them highly enough.

A glass of cold buttermilk. No respect, no respect atoll.

Libraries.

Raising Hope.
mmm

Driving lessons. Driving is so complicated and stressful and dangerous, and most people don’t bother learning to do it properly at all.

Clean sheets on your bed.

All that stuff in all the stores around us that is there for us to buy. The whole system of working and merchandise that allows us to do a job and get paid and go buy any damned thing that we want, and it’s all there for us. Marvelous.

A good, effective teacher. Well, maybe more undervalued than underrated.

I’m on mine right now.

A couple of days ago I downloaded the Google Skymap application. I can now point my phone at the sky and determine which celestial body I am viewing.

I mean, shit! Couple this with email, news, weather, phone…

It’s mind boggling.
