what do you think my name means?

wring, unless your username is obviously feminine people will probably assume that you’re a man. Even my username isn’t obvious enough for some people. So I don’t think it’s that the name wring seems particularly manly, just that it isn’t overtly feminine.

For me, the name suggests someone who is determined and hands-on, and possibly a bit tight-fisted.

Are you going to tell us after a while (you could use a spoilers box, you know) or do I have to go do a search now. Personally I seem to have always considered you female, but that could be something I picked up from a thread somewhere. The name is fairly neutral to me, not masc. or fem. And it never really occurred to me to wonder what it means. Sometimes I gets 'em, sometimes I don’t, and it’s just not the sort of thing that keeps me up at night if I don’t know. Although now you’ve piqued our curiosity.

I’d go w/ the wedding ring - it’s just what comes to mind (well my mind anyway)

I always thought it meant you had screwed up wiring, or a short. I thought you were a guy.

I’m a guy.

I thought it meant something like wringing your hands in frustration over stuff. That, or wringing a dishcloth or something similar.

Then I got the idea to search Google (why, I have no idea). So is it any of these?

[ul]
[li]Wring Builders Merchants (a home and garden company in England)[/li][li]Wring, the perl script (that’s what the search result says; I personally have no idea what a perl script is)[/li][li]Warner Robins Industry Now Group[/li][li]THE WRING AND THE TIGHTS: THE DREAM-LIFE OF EDWARD BLISS, JR. by William Preston Robertson[/li][li]wringing your brow in pain and anguish[/li][li]a Vileda Pro Wring Mop (my parents used to have one of these; I don’t know if they still do)[/li][li]“Take eloquence and wring its neck.” – Paul Verlaine [/li][li]weissen rings[/li][li]the Wring 00 program[/li][li]a misspelling of “ring,” “wiring,” or “writing”[/li][/ul]

Any of those?

F_X

I know, but I’m not telling!

:stuck_out_tongue:

Spelled backwards, it’s . . .

gnirw.

So much for that idea.

Well, some one has actually come pretty damn close to the real deal.

RE: male/female - As long as I’ve been around, I’ve gotten the “Huh, you’re female?” reaction, probably 'cause the name is neutral, my posting style doesn’t generally include referrences to my tits, pregnancy, girlie stuff, and the basic default setting that many people have.

I started this 'cause often when I email folks from here (and explain it), they mention that they’d been wondering.

I have no collar fetish, nor is my name “rosie”, though WRT all of the ‘wedding ring’ guesses, my dad was/is a jeweler .

I think I will start claiming that it’s really

(thanks World Eater)

zwei, (see Flamey - I don’t do long names) I have no problem w/you starting your own thread (of course if all of us start threads like this, the mods will have kittens. And not cute cudley ones, either, mean, claw scraping, yowling, peeing on the carpet kittens)

Well, I thought I knew, and if I do I didn’t figure it out independently, but now you are making it sound all mysterious so maybe I don’t know after all.

Or maybe I am just a dimbulb. Anything’s possible.

Is it really possible that I didn’t make a dumba guess**? Not saying that it is right, just that if two other people thought of it, well maybe…

White Rabbit - ing? Fan of Wonderland? Always worried that you’re late?

Was that a clue for us in the OP?

So, I’m WondeRING

Yeah, I know, it’s a longshot. But, an astute observation nonetheless.

I figured you were a guy.

As far as your name, I was thinking “twisting a wet washcloth to make the water come out”

I thought I knew all the net lingo. What does “WRT” mean?

I thought you just spelled wrong wrong.

WRT=“with regards to”

That’s funny, I thought of a little bird too. I am not sure why either. I did figure you were female though.

well read inquisitive nekkid girl?

I think you’re thinking of a wren.

wring, are you just going to leave us hanging?
