I always think of a wrung-up little person. But I’m pretty weird.
And I always assume everybody is male until they say otherwise, or their username clearly suggests their sex. I just find it hard to imagine people as sexless.

Sorry - the closest was the “Winona Ring” - tho’ “Winona” isn’t correct.
It’s both my name and how I sign in (first initial and last name). and yes, my dad is a jeweler
my email addresses (I have 2 work oriented ones and one for family/friends) all have “wring” as the basis, so when I signed up here and it asked for ‘user name’, I didn’t realize that it would become a screen name and attached to each of my posts. I figured that out when I saw “Satan” posting here.
But, after thinking about changing it, I didn’t ‘cause it’s short, easy to spell, easy to remember, and I think it’s semi-cool that my real life name makes itself into a real word, too. My sister (ering) and brother (kring) didn’t have it so cool, and when kring married, (dring) and had two daughters (sring and kring), they still didn’t achieve this level of ‘coolness’. Now, if I’d not married my sons’ father, he’d have been bring (which would have been mega cool as well).
Now that you have everybody WondeRing about your name are you WorRyING that someone might figure it out.
T-Keela…hmmm…whachatinkboutdat?
“So, I’m wondering - what image am I projecting w/the screen name?”
Wait a minute, didn’t you just say you were WondeRING right here?
As long as his middle isn’t Oswald or something. I’d hate for him to be boring.
Do we get to guess your first name now, or is that too much info to post on a message board?
Yep, a day late as usual, Damn PC won’t load. I was posting my guess same time you were. So, who in your family is Boring, er I mean Bring or any other *rings that make sense.
oooh, **middle ** names~
well, then my sister is damn close since she’d become ‘earing’ but my brother would still be out of luck (klring), as would his daughters (smring and kmring), but sister in law would become daring.
hmmmm but I’d get all screwed up and become ‘wlring’ yeck. although I pointedly never give out my middle name unless it’s forced on me.
sure go ahead and guess the first, it isn’t very esoteric.
No prob, just remind me never to piss you off, lest I’ll be sleeping with the fishies.
OK, I’m ashamed to admit it, being a card carrying feminist and all, but I was shocked when I first discovered you were female. Your posts were too well put together, too masculine in style, logical and intelligent.
Most of us women kind of ramble and maybe get a little off topic and forget that the plural of ancedote is not data. But there are a couple of women on this board who are always laser-like in their precision - their cites are appropriate - their logic is … logical. I can always count on you, Cranky, Mandelstam and some others when I’m about to give up on my own gender.
(Not that every male poster around here has laser like logic and shows intellegence in their posts - you’d think I’d know better).
–Dangerosa (whose user name can be plugged into Google for an accurate (and a couple of not so accurate cites)
First name, not very esoteric, starts with w. You’re a Wilhelmina, aren’t you?
Even before I knew what it meant I thought of Casper’s witch friend with huge glasses. I never thought you were male. But then again the first thread I really remember you from was the prostitution one and from there I always assumed you were a woman.
Me? I’m actually a tiny little guy.
Dangerosa, you make me blush! . thanks!
Oddly enough, BigGirl, when I was in high school, my friend Peggy & I shared a locker, and decorated it w/sundry and assorted clippings and funnies. One of them was cut out from a comic book, “Wendy the good little Witch”, but some one changed the “W” to a “B”, (so of course, it was "Bendy the good little Witch ) - you remember me first from the prostitution thread?? where we disagreed??? geek. and yet we’re pals? wow.
Wring, I think from some of your posts that you are Asian (Chinese?), and I’ve always been trying to figure out where wring or ring comes from??? I haven’t seen that before as a family name in Asia and am just curious about the ethnic background.
Sorry China Guy - the “Ring” is from Grandpa, who was German. Have interest in Asian culture though
Say, wring, do I get a prize or something? Or are you going to wait til I guess your first name?
you won my undying admiration.
Can’t ask for more that that!
