What do you think of this ring? Does it send the right message?

For some reason, I’m reminded of the heart-ripping sacrifice in the Temple of Doom.

I think a 14-year-old would love it. A grown woman, not so much… Sorry. I’m a female and that’s what I think. I would try to lose it rather than wear it.

So help me, but I actually saw ads for this thing on two different websites this morning. Apparently someone out there is taking it seriously.

There are at least two of us. I didn’t even know what image I hadn’t seen until this thread happened. Now I live in fear.

Even before I figured out how the OP might be a whoosh I wasn’t a fan of the ring. I was all set to articulate what message I thought it sent…

So, wait…I’m confused – is this an actual item that you can buy? I figured this was a joke someone put up, but is this a real ring that people are looking at thinking “Oh, how beautiful, I can’t wait to wear this”?

I thought it was because you told me “I need a man who can ballroom dance, and all you bring to the table is a frat boy frug!”. Oh well… live and learn.

Judging from what I’ve seen of other people’s taste, I’d say yes, yes it is.

Well, that too. And then there was the whole watermelon incident …

It seems to be a “Fenian” claddagh, which was designed around the time of the founding of the Irish Republic.

(However, the original crown wasn’t to represent Britain, but the early Irish kings, at least according to wiki.)
Quite honestly? I think it’s ugly. (This ring, not claddaghs in general)

Now, if only the hands were at 10 & 2…

Have it inscribed thus.

 Maybe it is because I clicked the link in the OP here, but an ad for this goatsee ring has just shown up for me in my thread in GQ!

I find it a bit ugly. But my opinion is not the relevant one.

When I saw it, the clenched fists retromanminded me of Johnny Socko and Ultraman. I kind of like it, it’s a bold design and I like the Gold and Silver Contrast. I don’t like the diamond bejeweled heart however… Might be better with a gray tarnish, pewter, or hematite flat or dull cast to the heart… inlaid with ruby and emerald chips.

No, it’s not the Fenian claddah either; that still has the hands cradling the heart, not strangling it.

And njitt, I presume that’s “Ash nazh gimbatul”?

I assume the “woman” in question is 8 or 9?

Well, I don’t actually want to be pronouncing the Black Speech…

The fists also Remind me of Air Force SAC. I

… and the “Iron Fist” insignias of the British 20th Armoured Brigade or the American 46th Army Infantry.

Great. Now I’ve got “Marsy doats and Goatse doats and little lamzy divy…” stuck in my head.

But at least I don’t have THAT ring stuck on my finger.
