Also, for the record, I agree with msmith527 - new co-worker’s complaint is stupid and petty and many women managers do get too invested in their workplaces (as do many man managers).

It’s different though. Women managers tend to take on a surrogate work daughter (or son sometimes) while men tend to turn their workplace into a high school sports team or fraternity house.
Thank goodness I work for a manager who appears to detest us all just about equally.
