What do you want fixed/changed/added to Sims 2?

Well, the “Sims 2 is here!” thread has gone out to seven pages, so I guess the time is ripe for a new thread:

What changes, fixes or add-ons would you like to see included in the next patch or expansion pack? They can be realistic, or just wish-list stuff.

Personally, I’d like to see…

Different sizes for Sims. One of the side effects of playing so much is that when I go outside, I start imagining how I’d create a Sim of the people I see. The first problem that hits me, however, is that real people are vastly different heights and widths. I realize this would probably make coding personal interactions difficult, but I’d like to see a range of heights for kids, teens, adults and elders (maybe depending on genetics and childhood development?), and a greater range of body types than just fat, thin and fit (add in skinny, obese and pumped?)

Color ranges for skin and hair rather than just the set four. When Sims have a kid, I’d like the kid to be more of a blend of the parents’ traits. This one doesn’t seem so hard to do.

More stuff! Especially toys and games. My Sims want to play pool and shoot hoops like in the old version. They want to get down and boogie on the dance floor. The objects for shops are pretty limited, as well.

I want to be able to align stuff diagonally to use with angled walls

More shops! Bring back the restaurants so our Sims can go out for some fun. Or have the entire family go out and let the kids drive the waitstaff crazy by running wild. Maybe have a babysitter townie to watch the kids while Mom and Dad go out?

Make the townies age, have kids and die! It feels weird to have three generations of Sims go steady with the same teen townie. “Wow, you kiss just like your grandpa!”

More places to woohoo? In the closet? In the bushes?

So how about you guys?

I’ll be happy with just that voodoo doll back.

I miss the spiral staircases from whatever expansion they were in. Finding a place for normal stairs is a pain.

There needs to be a sronger neighborhood editor to adjust terrain imported from Sim City 4. I’m still ending up with missing bridges and roads with no way to replace them. I know there’s a stone bridge in the objects but it’s a terrible replacement for the actual bridges because there’s no terrain editor to get it to line up with the roads.

  1. Being able to align objects to the diagonal walls is a big one for me; the whole time I’ve been playing, I’ve just assumed that I was too ignorant to figure out how to do it. Why on earth would the game include diagonal walls if you can’t put things on them or align things with them?

  2. Relationships between adults and teens. They could even disable “woo-hoo” as an option until the teen is an adult, but it’s mega-lame that the options are so limited. I’m not asking to be able to make Mortimer goth molest a child, but if a “Mrs. Robinson” situation arises between Dustin and Angela’s mother, it needs to be able to move beyond “Shoo”/“Say Goodbye”!

This is not my original idea, but I would like to put tombstones on a community lot. Why not have a cemetery?

Man, I so agree with this!! I have a male teen and I’d like to get him hitched with someone he meets in town, but if he becomes an adult and she doesn’t, how can they ever get together? I know you have to “play” the families their friends are in for them to grow up, but if they aren’t IN a family, that’s kinda tough to do, right? Am I missing something?

I’m trying my best to not kill off this family, too

Yes, to aging townsfolk, and the diagonal alignment.

More stuff! More stuff! More stuff!

The getting home from school – is it just me, or does it take nearly an hour to get the last kid off the bus and doing something productive? In a family with three kids, and say one of them brings home a friend from school, I feel like I’m losing A LOT of time waiting for all the bus unloading and cheering. Enough with the cheering!

The phone is driving me crazy. It rings constantly, and it will ring A LONG TIME. It’s much harder to ignore the phone than in the Sims (1). This bothers me so much that you would think my real life phone was ringing, so I think this is maybe a weird phone issue I have.

I think you should be able to purchase clothing over the internet.

I wish hats would go on and off easier. If anyone ever played the Sims Online, that hatstand was a nicer way of wearing hats. That way, you could combine any hat with any hairstyle.

More Sim music and more Sim TV. I know that part of the appeal of the Sims 2 is that you can put your own music and video on the stereo and TV, but I like the Sim music.

Maybe I haven’t figured this out yet, but after a Sim dies, is there any way to access his bio? I took a lot of time and wrote very descriptive bios for my first Sims, but when I realized that they were gone once the Sim died, then I didn’t bother so much. It would be nice to have them all as a family history.

I think that love and woo-hooing shouldn’t be so linked. Two Sims with romance goals should be able to jump in the sack without being in love. I’ve never really understood this, it doesn’t seem to fit with the rest of the game’s morality. “Readiness to jump in the sack” should be on the personality scale, with some Sims quick to do so, and others requiring a lot more coaxing.

Right now I’d just be happy to figure out how to Woo-hoo in public. Where do I go, and how do I instigate it? (My sims, I mean.)
I’d definitely like more objects, particularly decorative objects. Paintings most of all. I’d like to be able to buy them at the store, and I’d absolutely love to have a restaurant.
And a pool table! I miss that so much. More toys for the kids would be nice, too.

As far as I’ve seen, the only way to woohoo in public is to have one Sim go into a changing booth to try on clothes, then tell the other to join him or her for woohoo (“try for a baby” is also available sometimes).

Public places can have hot tubs, though, so it may be possible to public woohoo in one of those.

I found something else that I want added. I’ve been trying to build a multi-level house on a cliff but I can’t do it the way I have in mind. I want to use the lay of the land to build the house but the only way to do this is by having multiple buildingxs. There should be a way to tie all the walls together.

I agree. It’s impossible to get a romance Sim to fulfill his/her aspirations to get 10+ people in the sack when you have to spend days building the relationship up, especially when the Sim has to build up the relationship away from his/her married partner. More casual sex, please!

I’d also like to see more hair colors. Four isn’t enough. Also, whoever said that the genetics don’t blend very well is right. I have three full siblings who look basically like identical twins.

Also, there should be a way to bring in townie children or teens (maybe an “adopt” feature) so they can grow up with your Sims so there won’t be an age lag. Though sometimes I like the age lag, it can lead to wacky family trees. Three generations of one of my families have bore children with the alien in Strangetown. If he aged, I couldn’t do that.

Having now successfully woo-hooed in public, I would like to be able to put my leftovers in the refrigerator. If I’m making a huge pot of spaghetti for two or three people, why can’t I just throw the rest in the refrigerator and warm it up the next day for lunch? The system now is just plain wasteful. It would also be funny if you left your leftovers in there for a long time, it could get green and fuzzy.

I would like to see it rain and snow.

Ewwwwwww!
I second the OP’s vote for varying body types. Considering how long I’ve had to spend watching my Athlete-career Sim work out on a weight bench, I should at least get to see him walking around all buff.

I definitely want more restaurant-type items for the community lots. Grocery stores and a public pool just don’t do it for me.

I’d like the ability to make a house layout and stamp down several copies of it throughout a neighborhood. When I tried building a neighborhood from scratch, I finally hit on a good layout that was affordable for a starter family, but had to keep rebuilding the same house over and over again.

And I’ve mentioned it plenty of times before, but I still want them to change the text “Joined Union” to “Marriage” for same-sex Sims.

At least they call it holy union.

I want to vary the roof angle. I also want the old party game back. That new one is ugly and lame.

Now our Sims can enjoy a long weekend, I want the vacation pack back.

And we need better community lots. With Discos and bull riding machines.

And sex in the showers, it’s more hygenic than the hot tub

I’d like to able to see seasons as well as weather…the sims are now ageing but outside everyday looks the damn same - there’s never rain, wind, snow, fog, etc, etc. How cool would it be to have your sims celebrate Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, etc, etc…

I’d second restaurants, cemeteries, as well as the height diversity

MORE STUFF MORE STUFF MORE STUFF

Ahem. And more staircases, yes. I hate all the one’s they’ve got now.

Area rugs. Why did they not even put one in?

MORE STUFF!

Oh Og damn that rogue apostrophe. :Tries to throttle it:

There seems to be nothing for community lots, or at least, I can’t find much at all. I tried making a restaurant, but could find no food vendors!!

I would like to see kids grow up along with their “friends.” It feels funny trying to maintain a friendship with a kid once my sim is grown up.

I’d like to see Maxis fix that darned “cup bug.” I refuse to even have a coffee machine in my house because of that bug. Once it hits, you can’t stop it and you have to reload from your last save and hope it wasn’t too long ago.
