What do YOU want for Christmas?

In a few hours, I’ll leave for my baby sister’s house (‘baby sister’…she’ll be 47 soon). Just an hour drive. I expect to see Mom (alas, these days she thinks I’m her big brother), my sister and her family, and with any luck, our oldest sister and her family will be there, too. I don’t think the middle sister will be there, as there is a fight going on. At least I’m not in the fight. Anyway, I want lots of conversation and laughing and hours of noshing on things I shouldn’t eat - and I expect to get all of that. Plus, my new Burpee’s catalog came unexpectedly in the mail yesterday…S-W-E-E-E-E-T!!!

List o’loot:
-2 pen refils;
-2 bookmarks (w/pics of puppies!);
-a bag of long golf tees;
-a calendar like I use at work.

Exactly what I wanted and nothing more. It is a tad surprising, and pleasant, how happy this small amount of gifts made me. I will bery much use and appreciate every one of them.

Merry x-mas everybody!

I want to be with my family but they’re in a different country. My own fault for moving away, I guess. I could try calling home but I usually end up crying, if I call on holidays, so I’m really not feeling up to it.

The man’s family is wonderful, and I’ll be spending the day with them… but it’s not the same.

What I would have liked to get (though no one asked me) is subscriptions to Cook’s Illustrated, Cook’s Country, or Simply Knitting magazine.

And the chance to fall asleep in someone’s arms to the sound of his heartbeat…maybe in a few weeks, now that he’s resigned his job and will have time to travel!

What I got (from coworkers and friends) is: Money for a new winter coat (it’s blue and I love it), a gift card to KnitPicks (thanks, Lillith Fair!!! ) a Subway gift card, a bottle of wine and two Bailey’s Mini’s, and a book (Cold Comfort Farm), and a framed enlargement of a photo my coworker took on her vacation in the UP a few years ago…I’ve been bugging her for a copy of the picture for years, and now I can hang it on my wall!

I haven’t seen my family yet today, but I’m not expecting anything…we’re all pretty broke this year.

I ended up getting, from my parents and various siblings:

A Borders gift card (from whoever was my Secret Santa)
a Target gift card
Elizabeth Arden Green Tea perfume (from my niece and older nephew)
a basket with shower gel, lotion and a little coin purse
a coffee mug with ground coffee and chocolate-mint cookies (from my folks - it may seem like an impersonal gift, but they know I like coffee)
a pink Hello Kitty bath towel (sounds childish, but I have been a Hello Kitty collector since I was 10, so this was one of my favorites)
and, from my daughter, a nasty cold. :mad: Sorry, kiddo, I know it’s not your fault, but Mommy doesn’t like colds.

I feel like crap. And we’re still expected at her other grandparents’ at 1 p.m. I’m going anyway because I like them and haven’t seen my younger nephew in several weeks. Plus it will be interesting to see what bizarre outfit my ex decided on for the occasion.

I got just what I asked for.
Spacebags
new headphones (cat chewed through the old ones about 3 weeks ago)
a few skirts
duffel bag
money

About a month and change until I leave for Madagascar for 2 years, so this is all stuff I really need. And I will add that I was more excited about the spacebags than any sane person should be. I want my old clothes to come out of my mom’s attic in 2011 and be wearable!

I wanted two things:

a pleater (for sewing)
and a car (because we’ve needed one for 6 months).

I got both! I’m happy. Especially about the car. AND my sister knitted me socks!

(Now I want homeschooling materials–I shouldn’t go to Classical Writing’s website until it’s actually time to order for next year. So…wonderful…)

I got lovely and thoughtful presents from my 'rents and in-laws: a camera, nursing tops, bath stuff, a couple of photo albums. But I’m most pleased by the gifts from my beloved husband–1491, Shakespeare: The World as Stage, and The Wordy Shipmates. This is a man who clearly knows and loves his geeky wife.

Snow. Lots and lots of snow. I’m in Northern Ontario, where we have a couple of feet so far, but I’d like a great deal more – enough to last for skiing through the spring.

Congratulations! But I’m a little jealous now. :slight_smile: At this moment, the Weather Channel says it’s 55 degrees and cloudy.

Well I scored a box of saltwater taffy today. So far I’m ahead for expectations. :stuck_out_tongue: OTOH, my Yorkshire Pudding this year was the best ever; I think I’ve worked out the kinks.

I don’t want any lords a-leaping this year.

Ladies dancing and maids a-milking, on the other hand, are quite welcome.

The way that title was written reminded me of ‘How YOU doin’?’

In that vein, you don’t expect me to actually post on a public message board what I want now, do you? :wink:

And if I don’t get it, I’ll just have to hunt it down and. . . oh, uh. . . Merry Christmas!

I’m with you on the gift certificate, Ivylass*!

Here’s a poorly taken picture of the necklace. Stonebow is not exactly a photography whiz :smiley:
As far as the rest of my Christmas went - Well, my children surprised me by paying attention, and I got the new bathrobe and hairdryer that I desperately needed!

*Hasn’t SparkPeople been great!?

I had one of those when I groomed dogs. Yes, excellent tool. There now is a pricey groom comb out I would like to try when I have the money at the same time I am at that store.

I take it you weren’t impressed with blouses and cheese, :p. I got a tobaggen to pull hay bales on. My foal jumped on it and went flying. :eek: It was pretty funny after I decided she wasn’t hurt.
