What do you want to be called on here?

Some people have long screen names. (No, no, I’m not suggesting those of you with short screen names are suffering some kind of screen name envy.) Most of the time, when people reply to them or refer to them in posts, they cut and paste the entire name.

So my question is this: How would you like people to refer to you/call you, other than your screen name?

For me, I have no problem in the world with anyone calling me dan or Dan. “theman” might make me look at the post funny, but I won’t immediately think you mean me.

The only time this would be a problem for me would be if someone said “Dan” in a thread in which I hadn’t participated. I couldn’t even find it in a vanity search, then! **

Well, hf or the capitalized version both works. I suppose someone could just call me hope, although I’d probably think they were speaking to someone with that actual name. However, my only request is to not simply address me by fool because, I fear, if that did ever happen it wouldn’t be under the best of circumstances anyway and I might respond a tad snarkily. So there. Other than that, just don’t call me late to dinner.

I think in the end that m.j. will be just fine.
