I agree 100%, but I also worry that this is part of the underlying problem with the many sexual double-standards in our society. Sharing ‘firsts’ is, IMO, a dangerous attitude in that it adds to the ridiculous notion of women being sluts. On a side note, I find the most distressing ‘fix’ to that imbalance is the desire to label men as sluts as well. Such draconian notions of sexuality need to be outgrown.
But while it is undeniably cool to give a woman her first orgasm, I find it equally sad that she never had one before. I remember a conversation with a girlfriend when I was in my early twenties. She told me something like ‘I’ll be away, so you’ll have to take care of yourself.’ meaning masturbation. I replied that she would have to as well, to which she responded that she had never masturbated. I didn’t believe her at first, but she was pretty convincing about it. When I asked her why she hadn’t, she replied that “she never needed to.” WTF? Never needed to? It’s not like eating, woman, it’s about pleasure and being in touch with your own body.
Good lord, the attitude of sex some women still have today is mindboggling. And it’s not limited to women. Every time I hear a man say he wants to marry a virgin, a little piece of my faith in humanity dies.
