What does LOL stand for?

The title says it all.

I will link to this webpage to put my question in context.

Particularly the phrase “LOL Cybermen”, maybe I’m getting old, but I can’t work out this abbreviation.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Laugh(ing) Out Loud?

Land O Lakes… at least when it’s on the board at the Supermarket deli.

Otherwise, Laughing out Loud.

My mother thinks it means “Lots of love”.

Little Old Ladies

It stands for “I Can’t Type.”

if this thread is for admitting you don’t know what common internet abbreviations mean, hallelujah! Can someone please tell me what WAG is supposed to stand for?

double post ---- sorry :smack:

WAG = Wild-Assed Guess.

Wild A** Guess

My company – I kid you not-- uses various abbreviations. BOM (Business Operations Manager). Another is Local Operations Leader (LOL). Who thunk up that one, anyway?

In my country the word ‘assistent’ is regularly abbreviated by taking the first three letters of the word… The job description of a friend of mine is ‘ass. manager’.

My fiancee’s sister uses it the same way. And she’s an internet-savvy 27-year-old. Odd.

lol

As for the “LOL Cybermen” thing, in this context I understand it to mean “ha ha look at the funny Cybermen”, i.e. cheesy badly done sci-fi cliches as seen in Doctor Who.

I always wanna point out two sites…

Seems a lot of people try and find things out the hard way

We abbreviate that word as “asst.” For obvious reasons.

Yeah but I like Svejk’s way better. I dream of someday living the comfortable life of an ass. manager.

Then your career path is clear: you must become the administrative assistant to a proctology office.

In some contexts it is Wives And Girlfriends of professional soccer players.

Huh, the wikipedia article cites a claim that BFN is one of the three most popular abbreviations in internet slang. The other two being LOL and IMHO. This is the first time I’ve ever seen BFN (bye for now) and I’m an internet gamer, does anybody here use that?
