What does this bumper sticker/car decal mean?

I have seen a number of cars driving around (in the Atlanta area, at least) with a small rectangular bumper sticker or car decal consisting of a horizontal black stripe, a blue stripe, and another black stripe. Anybody know what this decal signifies? Allegiance to the Antichrist? Membership in the Illuminati?

Well, you are all familiar, I am sure, with the Rainbow stickers, flags, etc that are used to represent Gay Pride.

Amongst those that are into Domination/Submission, and to a lesser extent, Sado-Masochism, the stickers you described have the same meaning.

Out here, during the Folsom Street Fair last year a friend of mine bought several of the stickers, and was giving them out to other friends that are interested in the same thing.

The S&M flag is alternating blue and back stripes. It has a white stripe in the center. There’s a red heart on the upper left corner.

I’ve never seen one minus any of the above details. Buck, was that what you saw? If not, it’s probably something different.

Woops… once again, I am corrected… you are right, andygirl…

assuming punishment position

No, the one I’ve been seeing is just a small rectangular decal–except at least once I’ve seen it rendered as a front-license plate, but usually it’s small bumper sticker–with three equal horizontal stripes: black, blue, black, from top to bottom. It looks like a flag, but if so, I don’t who or what it’s the flag of. I’m pretty sure it’s not the flag of any country or American state. It’s definitely not the one andygirl and (I presume) Trisan are talking about. (I think I have seen that one somewhere before, and I didn’t know what it meant, so I guess I’ve learned something, anyway.)

Its the flag of my country and they are patriots who are going to overthrow the evil opressors!!

I was told it showed an affiliation with law enforcement. Alledgedly you were more likely not to be stopped.

The Thin Blue Line

A blue stripe against a black background is for Law Enforcement Officers.

And for people who are concerned with police brutality - isn’t it ironic that cops have chosen a symbol that’s black and blue.

Maybe it’s a Tampa fan, showing the colors of the Black and Blue Division?

Doesn’t seem to hit the right note. Chances are that if you are willing to learn about every single country in the world, the CIA’s [url=“http://www.odci.gov/cia/publications/factbook/”]World Factbook[/url might identify the country, if indeed it is a country you are trying to identify.

This is indeed the decal I was seeing. Thanks, Bear_Nenno, for pointing me in the right direction. (And I guess it’s a good thing I never implemented plan B, which was to rear-end one of these guys and try to work it into the resultant conversation: “Whoops, sorry about that! I really do need to get those brakes checked out…Yeah, State Farm…Oh, gee, and it looks like I messed up your bumper sticker, too. Say, that’s an interesting bumper sticker. What’s it mean, anyway?”

And I should add, thanks also galyean, who actually posted the law enforcement connection first. And thanks to the rest of you who tried, although you will of course have to be spanked vigorously for having gotten it wrong.

Well, so much for wondering about my reputation on the boards.
