What does your internet namesake do?

I know a guy with a hyphenated first * and * last name. I think his parents were either extremely drunk, or just couldn’t decide. Either way, i can’t imagine that he ain’t unique.

I looked me up and apparently I’m a basketball player, an 80-yr-old actor and a 78-year-old artist!!

My last name seems pretty uncommon, in that people always say how unique it is, how do you pronounce it, etc. I’ve never met anybody with my last name. However, looking up my last name only brings up lots and lots of people.

With my first name, though, all the hits are actually me. Two out of three are on an education website, where an article I wrote for the school paper in high school has been quoted. (Who knew?! They attribute my subject’s thoughts to me directly, though. :confused: )

The third is the homepage for one of my professors who directed my senior thesis, and I’m listed as one of his students.

I tried my brothers, and all of their hits were actually them. Namely, the posted results of a road race they ran in last fall.

wow …

ok, I did a search and came up with me in varying stages in my life … old links at old jobs that haven’t been updated yet. I also found another one of me … perhaps my evil twin. He is a PhD student at Cornell University. My name is Luke Ballard by the way so I wasn’t expecting a huge number of hits.
There is also a lawyer with the name Frederick Luke Ballard.

My surname is quite rare so as expected I found no direct match, but I did find one surname match and he turns out to be a historian with an artistic bent of some renown (well if you’re in those circles I expect) whose new project is using the World Wide Web to combine his passions…

Who’d have thought?

Actually, you might want to take a gander at this site I found via a brochure I saw at the driving range this morning.
Coldfire in Chicago

Funny, I’m in the same situation. Only, in my case there are only 4 people in the world with the same last name. :slight_smile: Gotcha beat.

There are, however, lots of nigel’s out there. Number one on yahoo’s list is Nigel Pulsford, apparently a british guitarist. Number two is Nigel Perry, a photojournalist.

-niggle

[ul]-10th grader in Penna.
-Former member of a drum and bugle corps (played cymbals).
-Real estate agent.
-Widow of a murder victim.
-Linguist.
-Body builder.
-University coach.
-Attorney. And many more.

I stopped looking after the last because I found out she was, like myself, of Finnish descent. I know our family name was bestowed upon Grampa when he came to this country (Riitijoki became Reed). I wonder what her original family name was? Hmmm, maybe I’ll email and ask.

I found a student looking for a job
an amateur photographer
Some german dude…

Interestingly enough, I looked up Screeme… and got an old old website I was toying around with years ago (I didn’t even know it was still up)… and 2 links to wrestling. Apparantly there’s a professional wrestler using the name Screeme!! :slight_smile:

Screeme

Only a few folks nation wide with my name, but none of them share my middle name. The one here in Wisconsin is a farmer, and no relation to me that I can tell.

Out of nine different search engines, I haven’t found anyone with my name. There are “Ian ‘fan’ Club” pages, “Ian ‘fan’” pages, and of course “Ian <insert last name here> fan” pages, but apparantly no “Ian Fan” pages. Found something with both caps, was a link to a outdated message board, but the use of caps makes it ambiguous “<name>:Why aren’t you a Ian Fan???”.

Did a people search on Lycos too, but no Ian Fan’s… oh well. But at least I guess if anyone is a internet stalker they know who to look for.

Anyone know of any links to any other People Finders besides Lycos?

Like Iampunha, my last name is hyphenated, and therefore unique to myself, my sister, and my mother, and Kyla isn’t all that common a name either, so I only found myself upon searching. I searched using my first name and each of my last names seperately, too, and nothing came up. I find that kind of surprising, though, because one of my names (Wall) isn’t particularly uncommon. The other one, being an Ellis Island name, is a little more unusual, though.

A Poice Captain - and possibly a mayor by now, according to this old article

<sigh> Out of a high school graduating class of 66, there were 2 guys with my name. Out of my college graduating class, there were eight–two of which also shared my middle name! One of the latter was also shared my major–they tried to give me his diploma by mistake. I’m sure there’s everything from convicted murderers to reknowned scientist out there with my name.

Do you see why I prefer “Balance”?

All I could find was myself, but I also found something called Kathy Larrigan under my name, and found minutes for a meeting with someone called John Dublin.

Read them here at

I also have a fairly common name. One of my namesakes playes guitar for “The Tragically Hip”. I like that. :slight_smile:

These are two that I like :slight_smile:

One does Neuroscience at Cornell.
One designed the Church of St Martin in the Field, in London, England.
One is an artist in England, someplace.
One is so bored/worried, he’s forming his own Survival Habitat.
One is is with “uwe.ac.uk.” Teaching African Drama, got into a potential slander/libel case with some Nigeran Professor I also have no clue about.

All leading more interesting lives than I.

My name is on the 1999-2000 Carthage Women’s Swimming Roster here There is also a girl on there from my hometown of Manhattan… don’t think I know her though.

There is also The Boston Wort Processors

This is all using my maiden name though. There wasn’t anything with my married name.

Let’s see…

On my maiden name, I get 184 hits in Google, including:

A woman who started her own PC business but still works part time as a neo-natal nurse;

A previous Chairman of the Western Maryland Health System Board of Directors (male);

A motorcycle racer (male);

A large number of people with my surname and first name reversed (ie, Kim is their last name, my last name is also a common first name);

A church elder at St. Mary’s (now that’s funny).

On my married name (excluding the hyphenation of the maiden name bit), I get 56 results:

Another racer, this one cars;

A webmistress/graphic designer for the (HAH!) Online Catholic Herald (you know that’s NOT me!!!);

and a guitar/mandolin/harmonica player in an Australian blues band.

None on me at all.
