He is risen!
He is risen, indeed!!
Based on a current thread in CS, I would have assumed that it meant “See, Em? Why Kay?”
I remember the Beatles’ ‘snfaulkner is dead’ hoax. Or was it the Rutles?
When I was a student teacher in college, the 2nd graders could not pronounce Mrs (SN) Faulkner. This is their version of my name.
The premier group of session musicians in Los Angeles in the 1960s/early 1970s.
I don’t know what it means.
“Idiot” in Japanese.
Leave me alone.
I’m a guy in Japan. But I wasn’t able to get JpnGuy for some reason. So I settled with JpnDude. FTR, I’m not Japanese.
Do I know you? We seem related, somehow.
It’s the name of the protagonist in a series of Raymond F. Jones science fiction stories from the late forties/early fifties that he fixed up into the novel This Island Earth in 1952. This, in turn, got turned into the movie of the same name in 1955, with the interestingly named Rex Reason playing Cal as a tall, dark, handsome, deep-voiced fighter-jet flying Ph.D. Research scientist. reason died only four years ago, and from pictures on his website he was still as handsome as ever.
The only thing I have in common with him is the Ph.D. and research thing. I only wish I was tall, dark, handsome, and deep-voiced (and fighting huge-brained Metalunan Mutants, using an alien wrench as a bludgeon).
I’m a golfer with a bad slice.
One time in the late 80s, I got a bad haircut. A friend remarked that I looked like Uncle Charlie from My Three Sons. Another day that same week, I made a random comment about how I thought Squeegee would be a good nickname for someone (there may have been marijuana involved). They ended up getting mashed together.
I discovered the SDMB after reading Cecil’s books. I wanted some kind of pun to show I was into smart people stuff, but still miles away from MENSA consideration. Plus, “Knowed Out” sounds like “No Doubt,” a phrase my friend SN Faulkner used the way others would say “Amen!”
Sure, I’ll tell it again.
I copied mine from a Bullwinkle bit from back in the 60s, in which Rocky would introduce him as “Mr. KnowItAll”. Here’s a sample. The intent was always meant in a self-deprecating way.
Not from He-Man, not about music technology, nothing to do with unicorns, not an Indian cartoon character, not a Pacific islet but from a Hawkwind song, Master of the Universe.
It is my second internet name but have been using it primarily for two decades. My first internet name is an obscure wrestling reference as my first “home” (and still is) on the webz is a pro rasslin’ forum. The SD now ranks as my number two home.
OT: I did not realize there were avatars here until I read this thread.
I wanted to register under the name Null-A, but was too tired.
