What does your username mean?

I suppose there are some on the board who don’t know that Hari Seldon was the name of the psychohistorian whose future predictions drove the narrative in Asimov’s Foundation trilogy, at least until The Mule came along and disrupted everything.

and here I always thought you were the least popular Legionaire!!

Mine is a reference to my atheism, leet and an argument I had with a deist that the only true “good news” comes through science and technology.

Maggie’s my name, plus Ocelots are my favorite of the small big cats; throw in a reference to one of my favorite movies starring Liz Taylor & S N Faulkner, and there y’go!

But I’ve always heard that there’s no such thing as an ex-Marine!

I’d love to find the old back issue in which GuanoLad fights Dung Beetle.

May as well point it out here as anyplace else. I just noticed GuanoLad is a guano"lad" and not a guano"load" (which I always thought hilarious).

Did SN Faulkner kill your father?

Eta: dammit! I thought i was clever.

What the hell is going on in this thread? Do…do you guys hear the voices too? Are you guys those voices?

Dunno about the voices, we’re just talking about our usernames. You ok man?

I’m just wondering if I’ve been Tyler Durdening myself during the times I thought I was asleep…or drunk…

Nah, you’re the one with the tin ear.

“Dahnlor” is the name of my Everquest character, created within the first couple of weeks after the game went live in 1999. I had a different name in mind, but I screwed up on my first couple of characters and the game wouldn’t let me use the same name even though I deleted the character, so I came up with something on the spot that sounded reasonably appropriate for a Half-Elven warrior.

After a while, I found the name to be unique enough to become my default pseudonym (and much more unique than the name I originally had in mind), and I have yet to encounter a situation where the name has already been taken by someone other than myself.

Whoa… that’s essentially my origin story as well.

I only wish we could change our username more than once. As much as i like my current name, i thought of what i consider an even more clever name after i used my one name change. :frowning:

I didn’t know we were allowed one name change. Maybe I’ll go with Mulligan.

Of course: the previously unidentified right fielder behind Who was obviously Nevermind. shoeless nevermind faulkner.

The name I’d choose is one i use elsewhere online: A trophy guy. Im sure many here who also frequent the Giraffe board will recognize it, as i use(d) it there.

Hmm, I always parsed it as ambi / valid…that is valid both (all) ways. As in totally legit in anyway you can think of.

I’m S. N. Faulkner, but one leg is longer than the other.

I’ve had more than one change, just ask them.
