What dopers are you thankful for or appreciate even if they may not be aware of it?

I am very thankful for Antonius Block for thinking of me in a time when perhaps nobody else did and doing me an incredible favor out of nowhere. I am also thankful forBricker. Although we often (ok, always) disagree, he is a good man who does good things just for the sake of it.

I am bad with names. There is a doper that went as far as to call me when I was in a time of need and make sure I was doing all right. That Doper showed me kindness that changed my life and I will always be thankful to him. It’s been a hard couple of years, and I’m sure I’ve made some enemies here. But I’ve also met a few angels. I am thankful for all the dopers who’ve helped me through the dark times in my life and on the boards.

I know I’ll forget a few, but here goes.

I’ve learned quite a bit from Bricker, Shodan, and Unclebeer. Finnagain and Eddyteddyfreddy crack me up. levdrakon for admitting that infinite rocket launchers are fun. Leviosaurus for being a wins fan and for tearing up when they wheeled Konstantinov on the ice. Askia and Aesiron in comic book threads with second props going to Fenris and CandidGamera (who has my favorite doper name ever). Anaamika for thinking that spiders are cute. Liberal for being Liberal. Sampiro, who needs to be published. Anyone who’s participated in a hockey thread.

Hell, I’m grateful for the whole lot. I’ve learned quite a bit on the boards.

I appreciate a lot of the usual suspects who were named a thousand times already. So I shall not list them. Ha!!!

But as for individual names, I have someone who I don’t think was mentioned - I appreciate featherlou for responding to me in the creepy guy thread in IMHO. I felt like you were looking out for me, so thanks, I appreciate that. :slight_smile:

Maureen - for unapologetically being a bitch when the need arises. And for the oral sex.

Aesiron - for alternative PsOV concerning a TV franchise, and for actually caring about people irl.

His4Ever - for confirming my own beliefs (often by stark contrast, but for someone to have such strong views, and be willing to state them regardless of how popular… well, I think that’s something.)

Skip Magic - for being a goofy fun ball.

Tracer - for great conversations.

Zeldar - for lazy Sunday mornings. And the best hijacked thread in Dope history.

Jaade - for sticking in there, and actually succeeding. And the oral sex.

Ooo! elfbabe, because the way she neatly sidesteps around her father always makes me smile and even laugh.

I’d have to add Evil Captor, just because. Never noticed him before, but now he’s on my list.

And I have to add vivalostwages. She barely knows me and I barely know her but she was very good to a mutual friend when he was down, and I’ve always been thankful for that.

I really appreciate the TeenDopers[sup]TM[/sup] (and you know who you are), since they keep me from thinking the youth of today are all needing to be shipped off to military school. And not a good military school.

sniff I’m thankful for those who have mentioned me… I’m always surprised to learn I’m a persona on the boards.

Two people whose fan clubs I’m president of:

Mullinator – no list of people who are funnier than hell would be complete without him. Some of his best work is in the Apprentice threads – but his recent “swallowed a nickel” thread was pretty damn funny too. I know he’s been working a lot of hours – and also has been busy with the baby and all – but am always delighted to have him pop in.

Colibri – who’s ridiculously knowledgable and wonderfully generous about answering questions in a lot of detail. I’ve been reading a lot of natural history over the last year or so, and Colibri (who I think is male, but don’t know, so I’m avoiding pronouns here) has been a wonderful source of both direct information and suggesting sources for further reading.

She’s aware of my admiration and gratitude, but I do want to publicly thank DiosaBellissima. The dear girl was not only helpful in my thread soliciting advice about clarinets–she actually GAVE her lovely wooden clarinet to my daughter!

Absolutely, featherlou. Especially that remark in that thread on . . . well, whatever. It was great!

Here’s a good example of what I’m talking about: We’re talking about the babe who backed out of an Internet date by making up a story about being assaulted and dumped in a ditch, and Marley23 says, “I take it this is not the 51st way to leave your lover!” Just absolutely fucking cracked me up. But how do you respond to it? You don’t, so it disappears into the ether. But we love it!

I second the mention of rockle, also. She cracks me up, and is someone whom I actually feel that I know, just from reading her posts.

zut gets my thanks for the TAR summaries.

I always like seeing Robot Arm, too, and I’m glad someone else mentioned him. Not only have I had the pleasure of meeting him, but I really appreciate his understated sense of humor. (I remember his comments in this thread which I thought were very funny but seemed to go over some heads). Even though I’ve only gone to one DopeFest, where I met RA, it’s nice to have that hey, I know you! flash of recognition.

And, of course, more props to Sampiro. Is he still emailing his writing to people? I’d love to get on that list.
