I’m thankful for twickster, jmizzou, and Jelaza for playing FantasyTV with me lo these many seasons. I also happen to think that CK Dexter Haven is a pretty cool guy.
I’m picking Askia, who seems incapable of typing anything that isn’t knowlegeable, thought-provoking or just damn funny. Does a pretty good rant, too. Whenever I see that he’s posted somewhere, I always have to click on it.
There are so many that make the Dope so pleasurable, and I hate naming names because I always forget people.
Off the top of my head:

I have actually slid out of my seat from laughter reading your stuff. Eve, you are so knowledgeable about your passions, and your writing style made me interested in something I previously wasn’t. The bon mots you toss off brighten my day immeasurably.[/li][li]The (former) Trek Dopers: I had some good times reading your stuff. Aes, Viva, carnivorousplant, and the dear, departed Tars Tarkas especially.[/li][li]The Lawyers: Campion, pravnik, GFactor, Random, and especially Bricker. I hate legal language, and I hate all the lawyers I know IRL, but y’all make this stuff easy to understand and argue very well. Bricker, politically I never agree with you, but I appreciate the opposing viewpoint.[/li][li]The Scienticians: Una Persson and Colibri. I know when I see a GQ you’ve posted to, it’ll have an excellent, well-written answer.[/li][li]The Teachers: Too numerous to list them all, but I recall pseudotriton and Manda JO most.[/li][li]The Floridopers, because I don’t have to explain how weird this place is when I mention something off hand.[/li][li]The Others: Excalibre, for his encylopedic knowledge of languages and linguistics. Polycarp, for his broad knowledge and kind, warm soul. matt_mcl, who usually posts what I’m thinking for me, without knowing it. jay jay, for much the same reason. Biggirl, cause she can be so damn funny. [/ul][/li]

I forgot Qadgop, of all people. Smart, funny, and always happy to help. His stories of prison life are also always entertaining.
Well, duh…I should not have forgotten Bambi, without whom I might never have seen the new BSG.

Ooh, ooh, I thought of someone I always look forward to reading - Bryan Ekers. It only
registered with me recently how funny this poster is. And of course there’s a whole bunch more, most of whom have been mentioned already.

All of my favorites have pretty much been mentioned, but I’ll mention a couple again.
Of course, Ivylass for her level-headed approach to politics. While I rarely post in political threads, I read most of them, and I’m reminded that the majority of people who are on the opposite side of the spectrum are pretty damn good people. I like being reminded of that.
Irishgirl, who seemed so joyful over getting married - and although I only mentioned the miscarriage I had in September in passing in a couple of threads, she expressed her sympathy to me very kindly in one of them.
Anaamika, who had a LONG email exchange with me a few months ago during a bout of depression I was dealing with - helped keep my spirits up a LOT.
There are a lot more, but everyone’s been mentioned. This is easily one of my favorite boards to read.

I’m grateful for Polycarp, Siege, Mangetout, and quite a few others who don’t spring instantly to mind, for being visible and reasonable Christians who are willing to take the time on this board to combat the occasional and rare idiot who thinks he can’t be a Christian without hating people.
I’m grateful for Qadgop and Chronos (and others, but especially those two) for being my brothers-in-Tolkienry. I still live for LotR threads.
I’m grateful to the whole MMP gang for making my days at work so much less ridiculously boring and giving me a thread that moves fast enough for me to actually interact with during my breaks and lunch.
I’m grateful for my queer brothers and sisters here (I’m not naming names, because I’m bound to forget someone and I don’t need that drama). Together we usually manage to fight ignorance of the homophobic or just plain curious flavors.
I’m grateful for supervenusfreak. Period.
